john 1:1 is a very known verse to us, stated here my bros and sis.it is speak of the plan of GOD,for creation, redemption, perfection.the bible tells in revelation 3:14 that Jesus is the beg. of the creation of GOD,COLOSSIAN 1:15.NOW Jesus is not GOD in the BEG.he is the center of the plan of GOD,that's why the bible tells in mat.14:33 he is the son of God.
  • Rev. Autrey on John 1 - 11 years ago
As the song says, "God in three persons, blessed trinity." The word "person" comes from the term "persona," who you are or the character one plays. This means that we are not talking about separate entities, but the personalities of God. You can have as many personalities as you like and still remain who you are. God has three personalities, but he still remains one God. Two of these personalities are mentioned in John 1:1: Jesus and the Father. The other personality, the Holy Spirit, is mentioned in other Scriptures. All of these are the same God.

To sum it up, the personality of God through whom he made the world is Jesus.
  • Rev. Autrey on John 1 - 11 years ago
This verse says that "the Word (Jesus) was God. This means that Jesus is not a created being as some teach, but God Himself. This is possible because what we are talking about is self identity or personality. ... God has three personalities, but Jesus is the personality through whom God created the world.
  • Joel Baldwin on John 1 - 11 years ago
Jesus is the Word; literally He was with the Father from the beginning. In the Old Testament, He came as Melchizadek; He became flesh in the New Testament (just over 2000 years ago, a willing sacrifice for those who would be saved by his laying down His life).
  • Joel Baldwin on John 1 - 11 years ago
The Word is Jesus, not a thought or idea. Jesus was not created by God (the Father), but has always existed. He became manifest in the flesh when He was literally born into the world, just over 2,000 years ago. Prior to His virgin birth, He took the form of Melchizadek (in the Old Testament) at points in history, as the Bible records.
  • Margaret on 3 John 1:2 - 11 years ago
I believe God is strategically encouraging us to pay close attention to His Words because His Words have life. He's not saying that we will all have prosperity and good health, but that is His unfailing desire for us. There are other components, such as, obedience and love involved in getting the prosperity and good health mentioned in 3 John 1:2.

the word of God is power that has the ability to manifest itself in so many dimensions including what ever man desire of in this world because john 1:1 everything was by him n through him including the food being spoken here.

Gracious is you lord. Thank you for your mercy that endure forever.
  • Heron Diaz on Genesis 1 - 11 years ago
We need to understand time if we are to understand what happend during creation. God's time is not the same us our time. The word image actually means that God made us with the ability to create. God was speaking with Jesus in begining (read John 1:1). Jesus always made the distinction between He and the Father (God).

    There love in Jesus Christ
  • Ciscokid on John 1 - 12 years ago
John lebeoa-- In John 1:1 The "Word" is the thought, intent or purpose of God to create Jesus.-Jesus was not with God--except in the mind of God. The Bible tells us in the gospels WHEN Jesus was ACTUALLY created/born.
  • Skylar Sinclair on John 1:11 - 12 years ago
I take it that "His own" is talking either about those who had been saved in that that had received Jesus Christ into their hearts...OR... that perhaps His "blood" family rejected him. Either way I can certainly relate because our two sons have rejected us and we have no earthly idea why. Rejection is one of the most painful things on earth especially when it's "your own".
  • Tamsyn on John 1:5 - 12 years ago
The light, as James stated in 2010, is the Word of God. But John, the gospel writer, is not referring to The Bible as "the Word of God". He is referring to God's living communication, the person of Jesus. That written book, The Bible, gives an account of Jesus, and the way he communicated God's message in actions and words. It gives an account of life before Jesus' incarnation, and an account after Jesus incarnation. But Christians should never lose sight of the fact that it was Jesus who was God's message to the world (God's Word), not the written book that gives testimony to the life of Jesus, and the struggle by people like the apostles, most notably Paul, to make sense of the events and base a theology on them.

Today, we have whole schools of theology, and churches that have grown out of them that worship "The Word of God" in the form of a written text. Sure, it provides the only record we have of Jesus' teaching and life. It also informs us of the prophecies that heralded him and the church that followed. But mistaking the written words of fallible man as God's dictation leads to all sorts of problems. Jesus, incarnate, crucified and risen is sufficient. He was, is and will remain "The light that shineth in the darkness".
  • Paul V. on Matthew 2:23 - 12 years ago
The Bible is about 30% prophecy: highly detailed events penned in the past about future events, and most has already been fulfilled, to the letter. So Mike's comment above re: "I think it is all made up" seems flippant in the extreme, and is not a rational response, given the all we know. Isaiah 53 and Nathanael's comment in John 1:46 support the statement: the Messiah was despised and rejected, and Nazareth was synonymous with that which was despised. Mike's comment on his problem with the date of Nazareth's existence is based on what? Not scripture; must be the shifting sand of man's wisdom. When man's wisdom and the Bible disagree, the Bible has always been proven correct - just recall the debate about the existence of the Hittites.
  • James Olukayode on Genesis 1:1 - 12 years ago
The triune God made the universe. John 1:1 elaborates this further. Jesus is the the word by whom the world was created, while the Spirit of God hovers, to give creative power to the words declared by God the father
  • Ike Emma Kanu on John 1 - 12 years ago
There is no doubt that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the only King of kings and redeemer of mankind. Philip and Nathanael confirmed it. John 1*45,49
  • Mprince on Genesis 1 - 12 years ago
Mark...all through the bible you find just how powerful God's spoken word was and is. God spoke the world into existence. And Jesus(the Word of God) simply spoke and the seas were calmed, demons were cast out, blinded eyes were opened, the lame were able to walk and with His spoken Word Jesus raised the dead! John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Jesus I believe, is the outward manifestation of God! In other words, Jesus is God!

    DELE DANIEL's & Idowu Isaiah A's:
In regards to your comments about Jesus and God being "ONE" You are absolutely correct in that Jesus said he and the Father are One.

But neither one of you quoted John 17:20 where Jesus stated: "that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me."

According to Jesus's own words all of his followers are ONE with him and with the Father. Does that mean that we are all GOD as well?
  • Martha Prince on 1 John 1 - 12 years ago
Dan...these scriptures should answer your question.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

  • Joyce Hutto on John 8 - 12 years ago
The true answer cometh from reading the word; John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. We have His answers to all things contained in His Holy Word.
  • John lebeoa on John 1:1 - 12 years ago
jesus is the 'word';"before your great ancestor abraham was born,i was there".through jesus(word) the world was created. meaning, he was there before Adam too.the question is; if the son is the 'word',is that mean the father is the 'thought'? (because the 'word' comes out from the 'thought'.)
  • KAY on John 1:2 - 12 years ago
i thnk alot of information is hidden in this statement..it seems to echo the first verse..as though to provide emphasis or even a new mystery...to God be th glory for his wisdom knows no end
  • Robert on Genesis 1 - 12 years ago
I've recently started looking at verse three in view of John 1:3-4, and Revelation 5:6. Since God is light (1 John 1:5), why else would He say "Let there be light" if not to provide the lamb of salvation for His creation?
  • Innocent Oko Agbo on John 1 - 12 years ago
John is a man that respect his calling. He had all the opportunity of saying that he is the Christ but did not do that. Even though he did not see Jesus at the beginning, he was able to realise that Jesus is the Christ through the revelation he got of a dove descending on him.
  • Maxine R. Gladden on 1 Kings 21 - 12 years ago
Greetings in the Sovereign Name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I believe the Lord God shows that His heart is SO MOVED by ANY show of humility when man does wrong, that He's willing to deal with the LEAST of sincere reaction on our part! (I say least because King Ahab's reaction to the prophecy of doom was a sincere reaction of fear, yet pathetic in the REPENTANCE dept.; far from what Proverbs 28:13 & 1 John 1:7-10 calls for!) If God softened the sentence because of Ahab's feeble reaction, think of what He does for people that TRULY TAKE HIS WORD SERIOUSLY AND SUBMIT TO JESUS CHRIST FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT TO REALLY CHANGE THEM! Note: the GUILT is removed, but not the earthly consequences and heartfelt remorse!
  • Tom Thumb on John 1:1 - 12 years ago
    @Kris
Jesus himself stated that "the Father is greater than I am." – John 4:28. This statement is true and I believe Jesus was referring to his form at the time which was in the flesh and before and after his existence he was and is God as he and the Father are the same.
