God has in His infinite wisdom used a donkey (won't use the KJV word as to avoid being flagged); and even said the rocks would cry out ( Luke 19:40) if those offering praise were silenced.
When we consider that God sees HIMSELF in all those who come to saving faith we understand that truly we are not our own.
Without Him intervening and living in us as John 16:8 states we are all literally toast.
What this does NOT mean is that we attempt to figure out who is called and chosen and who is not; and that we love our enemies as Jesus did with Judas Iscariot or there wouldn't have been the prophecy of a beloved friend betraying Him ( Psalm 41:9). If things are Predestined why does God bother to rain on the just and the unjust? Things like this are beyond our understanding.
So in one hand we can confidently say that God loves us even in our sin but comes to reveal to us the truth and that is by exposing our dreadful plight. We should consider our own situation when coming to faith and warn others as well. Let them call us what they may; we dare not water down the Gospel to make anyone feel good. This doesn't contradict the dignity of man but it is the love of God which grabs the heart and changes a man and that kind of love only comes from repentance granted by the Lord that causes a person to fall to their knees and confess with their mouths and believe in their hearts as Romans states.
We could say that is is necessary due to God's character to offer salvation; as we are His creation. Rather than saying "limited atonement" we should say that such a lifeline is clearly only taken by some; so it isn't affectatious for those who reject such truth; and that explains their condemnation. We can say that we were needed to complete His plan according to His purposes and He always loves us. He isn't dependent ultimately on success or failure; as Revelation 3:11 warns us we can forfeit our reward to another.
The question may be does the Spirit remain in the building if many in the congregation are either backslidden or mere professors of the faith? If we take a good look at Revelation 2 and 3; we see a few left who are worthy (actually Revelation 3:4 with Sardis).
There are places such as Laodicea where the potential existed for repentance; but even warnings for the Philadelphia church who was the only one as a whole worthy to escape all that would come to pass ( Rev. 3:10); but the next verse warns that we don't lose our reward to another.
Clearly; Jesus Himself spells out the conditions when He says in Matthew 18:20 about being present when two or more gather in His Name; and individually of course according to John 16:8 He is present living in a believer.
This logic makes us face the hard decision as I did recently not to attend services when those in known sinful lifestyles hang out.
This is a different situation from someone that slips into sin; but nonetheless at Communion we need to search our hearts for God can as Paul explains in Corinthians judge His own if they are doing this unworthily.
A place therefore can simultaneously be a place where demons hang out as well as where the Spirit is; as wheat often unknowingly is with tares. We can't control when visitors come in; or even those with a demonic agenda which i have seen several times in a couple different places (the most recent a couple years back where this guy said he was Christ and the Rapture was likely the next day. The Satanic caricatures on his cell phone were poorly disguised; I'll just say that).
Pride is a dangerous sin; and that often holds many in bondage today. It has become unpopular to sharpen as iron sharpens iron; and labeled judgmental when we expose evil; nonetheless it is a scriptural mandate following certain protocol if someone is teaching heresy.
I'll say what i've told others don't ask God to reveal things unless you're ready to accept it and count the cost.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11
When we look at the ultimate and final meaning of this prophecy we see the Tribulation saint martyrs. We can certainly extrapolate today's suffering church as well as apply this to our daily death to the sin nature; the world system and Satan.
In light of this I have some personal thoughts; not a "thus saith the Lord" but nonetheless I find a need to get into it.
We are all aware; more or less at this site how late the hour is. Some if not most are already in a predetermined path to suffer in the Tribulation; and some will escape out of it as I see Scripture. There will be saved and unsaved at that time as God refines His people primarily to purge out the dross and goes through the predetermined phases of judgments leading to Armageddon and His arrival to overthrow the Beast and his partner in crime and establish the long awaited Kingdom of Christ in the Millennium.
My first warning is that mere factual assent isn't enough to save us and if we are saved the Spirit dwells in us ( John 16:8). For a true believer the enemy would love to sidetrack us to avoid effective witness and try to convince us we will be left behind (at least in my case). Whether it is this side of the Rapture or not we risk catastrophic spiritual defeat if we put our hopes; fears or dreams in this world system.
Prayer warriors are needed in this hour; much as they will during the Tribulation with the incense of their prayers mentioned before the seal and trumpet judgments. For those dying during this Tribulation period there is no vagueness about it; we will be along with the world well aware of our soul going to heaven after martyrdom.
Let us be wary to avoid traps which could ensnare us. The world as most here know is being set up ( Isaiah 8:14; 2 Thessalonians; etc). We all must guard our hearts ( Prov. 4:23).
In further thoughts; this idea saddens me greatly. The tares simply don't know; they are unaware they are being deceived until too late. Now that brings up a whole controversy on free will and predestination. I will admit we all were enemies of God and followed the god of this world before the Lord reached us. Whatever our capability of accepting or rejecting truth and the steps on the way to the process of acceptance or rejection of God; we have to take His Word at face value; some simply are tares or goats. Some make it to heaven and some don't; and God is fair even though we don't get it. I will also say that emotion no matter how dramatic isn't enough in regard to being saved; but we also can't intellectually consent to Biblical truths without a new heart or without any emotion; after all a saved person HAS died or crucified their old nature in Him and that is a painful process whose death blow comes at salvation but until we are glorified continues to have residual effects in our fleshly mortal bodies. Again that is very saddening to think about; how much misery our remaining sins and rebellion cause for ourselves and others not to mention greiving the Spirit.
Now if we take something like deliverance ministry; no doubt there are some wolves in sheep's clothing who like to fling around the name of Jesus and may actually get some results. John 16:8 shows what should really rattle someone demon posessessed.
Satan ain't impressed with a sideshow and as we see in the book of Acts it can turn against those who want a publicity stunt.
We need to keep in mind when Jesus said that we shouldn't publicize our "good works" as the Pharisees did. (Again sorry I can't readily access the verse). This explains not casting our pearls before swine for those who are not serious about repenting seeking deliverance and also those TRULY filled with the Spirit not worshipping with professing believers in sinful lifestyles.
There is but one olive tree; some branches were cut off that we might be grafted in. We should not boast but be thankful, because by doing so, we could be cut off, Romans 11:17-21. We think today the Church, the body of Christ, as being Gentiles, but the Church, the body of Christ, started with the Jews," to the Jew first", that began at Pentecost, Romans 1:16. We, by the grace of God, were added to the olive tree and the Church, the body of Christ.
Of the Jews, the Lord saves a remnant through Christ, then and today, while the rest fell for the reconciliation of the world, us. God is not done with Israel; their return to God through faith in Christ will be like life from the dead, Romans 11:15.
Have we become ignorant of the mystery of their blindness in part and become wise in our own conceits until the fullness, meaning, completion, fulfillment, or the total of the Gentiles? When will that be? Tomorrow, years from now. Are we ready? Are we looking for things that are not coming?
Is our faith strong enough that we are willing to face death? There are many teachings out there, but only one truth. Deception is thick; we are in spiritual warfare, Colossians 2:8, 1 John 4:1. Discernment is critical in spiritual warfare; it enables believers to differentiate between truth and falsehood, particularly in the context of teachings and prophecies.
It is found in prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, as Jesus said in John 16:13-14 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Other translations say guard your heart. In this segment I am surveying God's exclusivity; or narrow path in comparison with the ecumenical "wide road" as it were. I will let the reader find the verse "you shall know them by their fruits"; but when we look at the recent increasing number of scandals that seem to be affecting many well known megachurch Pastors; many of whom are in what is called "hypercharismatic" circles often they don't practice what they preach. In general; we can examine what spirit is affecting people when we see the long term changes or lack thereof that result. Such is the case often when people have an "experience" these days in mass gatherings which have a sort of self fulfilling prophecy of predetermined objectives. Rather than looking for one of the lost sheep the 99 seem to be the focus; and the message in regard to the narrow path seems to be; well-lost in the wayside more or less.
The irony is the freedom such gatherings promise ends up being captivity; where a person's God given individuality in regard to spiritual gifting is put aside to majority opinion which historically is often a dangerous mindset. People no doubt feel free of the traditional ordinances of church structure; and no doubt some have found a temporary reprieve from stuffy; legalistic congregations which have stifled to a large extent genuine praise and thanksgiving which should accompany the assembly of the righteous.
Embracing any human mindset of values without the power of the Spirit's righteousness stated in John 16:8 risks demonic entities mimicking God and of course exaggerates the platitudes of those who are on the "top of the heap" of such ventures; which in reality are part of a large corporation type entity rather than true fellowship in many cases.
Whatever scripture apart from extrabiblical standards are applied brings some truth despite deception.
True interpretation of Scripture comes only by the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised that the Spirit would guide us into all truth ( John 16:13). That means God's Word must be understood within His order of revelation. If it is from the Spirit, it will align with the dispensational distinctions God has made-Israel under the Law and covenants, versus the Body of Christ under grace revealed through Paul. Paul declared that the "mystery" was hid until given to him ( Eph. 3:1-9). If we ignore that, we either make Paul a liar or accuse the Spirit of contradiction. The Spirit never contradicts Himself. He inspired all Scripture, but He also progressively revealed truth in its proper time and order. Therefore, Spirit-led interpretation recognizes Israel's promises, the church's heavenly calling, and the separation of prophecy from mystery. Any teaching that erases those boundaries is not from the Spirit. If it is truly of Him, it will be dispensational, because only then is Paul's testimony true.
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
The "heart" of the matter: Our fallen nature vs our living hope
1 Peter 1:3-5 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
I mentioned a particular song in the last posting; which has had a profound affect on my heart. I let the writer of it know; that indeed I sense God is going to use it in amazing ways.
Music indeed today is even with Christian artists seems dumbed down and lukewarm. John 16:8 shows that the true influence of the Holy Spirit comes to convict of sin; righteousness nd judgment to come. God's love is overflowing with His Holiness and reminds me anyway whenever it comes of my own wretched state. In the presence of someone Spirit filled I find myself ashamed of myself and am painfully reminded of my own cold heart. THIS is what Agape should do; it demands attention and draws us away from any competing affections. This is no mamby pamby sentiment; I don't intend to be condescending but as some have stated God is a jealous God that brooks no rivals as it were. Lukewarmness therefore has the worst of both worlds; it has all the form of true worship without the substance ( 2 Tim. 3:5); and it leads to legalism without any fear of God and His Holiness. Other forms of following rules of course can lead to someone who is cold hearted but full of outward vigor in what he defines as pursuing holiness. The opposite is anarchy; a free grace sort of careless mindset as to any fruit that the lord of the vineyard expects from those He has planted.
In short; we are all much worse than we can imagine; but thankfully this makes the gift that much more precious of eternal life.
Hello Cordellwbeesr, just to share with you my understanding of the relationship between God the Father and Jesus His Son. And to state, this is one of those impossible 'concepts' to understand, simply because we can only (and rightly) read and understand such things based on our ability with human limitatons. Many have tried to illustrate this 'strange' relationship using earthly imagery, such as using the three aspects of the sun or an egg, but even these fail to correctly show us the Truth of divine things.
What Jesus Himself declared to us should be strongly regarded; verses such as John 16:27,28 (Jesus came out from God - out from God's Being); John 17:5 (Jesus had all of God's Glory from the beginning); and John 1:1-14 (God took His Word and gave it flesh; and this was for the purpose of God's Love being shown in offering the perfect & only Sacrifice that could atone for our sins). And there are many other Scriptures that others have given you, which should show us that this Jesus was not just an ordinary human being born with human parents in sin, but was indeed the "second man, the Lord from Heaven" ( 1 Corinthians 15:47) and also called the "last Adam, a quickening (life-giving) spirit" ( 1 Corinthians 15:45).
Yes, Jesus came forth from the Person of God and given flesh for the purpose of being the only Sacrifice that could redeem us back to God. So how does Jesus have "free will" or even "prays to God". Remember, God gave His Word to be made human, so as a Human, Jesus encountered everything we have to face in life, and as a Human, the Glory He had ( John 17:5) had to be laid aside so that He could be like us, suffer and die (for God cannot die); see Philippians 2:5-11 (He was God's equal, He emptied Himself (Gk. kenosis) & took on humanity. Jesus now became God's Son in His Humanity, so He had free will and as a Son prayed to His Father. How can God pray to God, is often asked? These verses quoted should help you in knowing this Truth. GBU.
Let's look at the Old Testament and New Testament examples from the King James Bible, showing how God's truth unfolds step by step.
Old Testament Progressive Revelation
1. Genesis beginnings
* God reveals Himself as Creator ( Gen. 1:1).
* He promises a Redeemer after the fall ( Gen. 3:15).
2. Covenants with patriarchs
* Noah learns about God's covenant to preserve life ( Gen. 9:8-17).
* Abraham receives promises of land, seed, and blessing ( Gen. 12:1-3).
3. Law and priesthood
* At Sinai, Israel is given the Law, sacrifices, and priesthood ( Exod. 19-24; Lev. 16).
* This reveals God's holiness and points to the need for a perfect sacrifice ( Gal. 3:24).
4. Prophets and promises
* Isaiah foretells a virgin birth and a suffering servant ( Isa. 7:14; Isa. 53).
* Jeremiah announces a new covenant beyond the Mosaic Law ( Jer. 31:31-34).
New Testament Progressive Revelation
1. Christ's earthly ministry
* "Godhath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son" ( Heb. 1:1-2).
* Jesus reveals the Father ( John 14:9) but also withholds some truth until later ( John 16:12).
2. The Kingdom Gospel
* The twelve preach the gospel of the kingdom, offering Israel her promised Messiah ( Matt. 10:5-7; Acts 3:19-21).
3. Paul's unique revelation
* Paul declares "the mysterykept secret since the world began" but now revealed ( Rom. 16:25-26).
* This includes the Body of Christ, Jew and Gentile in one ( Eph. 3:1-9; Col. 1:25-27).
4. Future revelation
* John's Revelation unveils Christ's return, judgment, and the new heaven and new earth ( Rev. 21-22).
SummaryProgressive revelation in the KJV shows God's truth as a unfolding story: from promise in Genesis, to Law and prophecy, to Christ in the Gospels, to the hidden "mystery" revealed to Paul, and finally to the consummation in Revelation.
It's like a scroll unrolled across history-truth revealed as people were ready to receive it.
It appears that the term progressive has ruffled a few feathers, so let me see if I can shed some clarity on it.
In the King James Bible, the term progressive revelation itself does not appear, but the concept is clearly seen throughout Scripture. In the same way the word Trinity is not in the Bible but the concept is there.
Progressive revelation simply means that God did not reveal all of His truth at once, but unfolded it gradually over time. Each stage of the Bible adds more light, building on what came before.
* Old Testament beginnings: God first revealed Himself to Adam and Eve, then expanded His promises to Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The Law of Moses gave Israel knowledge of God's holiness and their need for atonement ( Deut. 29:29).
* Prophets and promises: Through the prophets, God progressively revealed details about the coming Messiah, His kingdom, and the new covenant ( Isa. 9:6-7; Jer. 31:31-34). Yet many truths were still hidden.
* Christ's earthly ministry: In the Gospels, Christ revealed the Father more fully ( John 1:18; Heb. 1:1-2). Still, some things were kept from His disciples until later ( John 16:12-13).
* Paul's writings: Paul speaks of "the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God" but was revealed to him for the Body of Christ ( Eph. 3:1-9; Col. 1:25-26). This shows God unfolding truths at the right time.
* So in the King James Bible, progressive revelation is the unfolding of God's plan across the ages-truths hinted at in earlier times, then revealed more fully later, especially concerning Christ and the mystery given to Paul.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. ( John 16:13).
In this passage I don't want to focus on what is commonly known as "extrabiblical revelation" but the Spirit making clear what the Word means as to future prophetic implications in particular. As per my earlier post; I want us to get beyond the whole concept of "rugged individualism" and the pride that comes with it. Yes; truly only a few stand out in this generation; a remnant within professing Christendom truly in the faith and focused on the Lord with great vigor. Thus it is all the more important that we can sense the part of His body we represent as what affects others also affects us; and vice versa. Other countries probably get it with cultures that focus on the family lineage although they could tend to go too far the other way and in its most severe form we end up with a caste society; which sadly enough happens in regard to Christians in places such as India.
Naturally if there is a specific word of knowledge (assuming we are not ascribing a cessationist definition that obscures clear messages from the Lord) it will; nonetheless echo the sentiments of other believers in our midst; and hopefully those we attend with in a local church. If in any matter; it certainly is in regard to the enemy and his minions who we can't expect to be on vacation. Some ascribe to the concept Satan is already bound under the earth who are of a certain eschatological camp. All I can say is if they are right then I am uniquely delusional in the spiritual conflict i am in; truly a madman of my own Don Quixote windmills of my mind; as it were. Of course man's evil is enough to destroy the earth; but according to Revelation men will not learn the art of war anymore when Satan is bound; but will go to swift destruction once Satan has his last fling.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; ( 1 Timothy 4:1)
2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
I will repeat once again that the concept of John 16:8; in the fact that sin; righteousness and judgment aren't exactly the focus of many of today's confessions in professing Christian churches. The basic issue is that the end result of hell is downplayed; and people aren't expected to change from the state when they are welcomed into the fold the first time as a visitor. What they are pressured into is a particular agenda quite often that follows a course designed to promote whatever the leadership wants which often is exaltation of a Pastor and promotion through media and hype which is puffed up far beyond anything God ever intended. Rule 1 against this abuse of power is before committing to membership we should determine what the accountability for all including leadership is with doctrinal statements and proper scriptural approach mandated by Christ Himself when we see a brother in sin. PASTOR'S AREN'T IMMUNE TO SUCH DISCIPLINE!! At least in Reformed circles this is generally accepted in most congregations; it doesn't guarantee the outcome as being correct as flawed humans are involved with that process but we should avoid any leader that will not accept this for their own teaching; that can particularlly be an issue with a "stand alone" type church where there aren't elders or deacons balancing things out.
On the other side of the coin is accountability we each have as laypersons to obey the things which those in authority who enforce scripture teach and require. On the line is whether we really want Christ to rule and reign in our hearts or fall for the "rugged individualism" our nation tends to proudly stand on. Without it; we are a group who meet Sunday all flying solo.
Perhaps a good way to start this commentary series is to focus on what we should NOT be praying about. John makes it clear from scripture we shouldn't pray about a sin leading to death ( 1 John 5:16). Paul sort of expands on that when expelling a brother when he says that: To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. ( 1 Cor. 5:5). These verses show that we indeed should desire a person returns to fellowship as the man did who committed the heinous sin of sleeping with his father's wife ( 2 Corinthians 2:7-8); which I assume the verse on restoration is referring to from 1 Corinthians.
Now the 10000 dollar question is what sin leads to death; clearly the result of all sins is death; but we could say someone who murders someone could qualify for that particular sin. Or in the above verses we should pray that through God's discipline someone repents not pray for them to be restored before repenting; or seek somehow to circumvent God's clear instructions not to fellowship with those who proclaim Christ but live i willful lifestyles of sin We see in 1 Corinthians 5:11 that particular instruction.
I think from these verses there are proper times when we should pray for conviction of sin; and that applies to a professed Christian who is either lapsing in sin or has progressed or never removed themselves from such a lifestyle but our approach is different. The nonbeliever MUST be convicted as John 16:8 states so that sin; righteousness and judgment to come are paramount in their fear of God that is the beginning of wisdom. ( Proverbs 9:10).
Too many people seem to think that rebuke and prayers for conviction and lovingkindness; mercy and compassion are mutually exclusive. We need only to look at Christ to see how both exist; with more warnings of hell than statements about heaven; and yet sacrificing His life throughout his earthly ministry and atoning death.
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
1 John 2:13 - I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
I write unto you, fathers, and these would be the older believers, because you have known Him from the beginning, that is, from the beginning of His earthly ministry. I write unto you, young men, and these are young adults, because you have overcome the evil one. Notice that. You have overcome the evil one.
Whenever a believer, born again, saved in Christ, the moment that person is saved, they have already overcome Satan. We don't need to fight him. It's always mentioned in the Perfect Tense. When we get to 1 John Chapter 4, he says you are of God little children. He's speaking about the spirit of antichrist that's in the world.
He says you are of God little children, and you have overcome them, because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. The spirit of antichrist is in the world. But if you belong to Christ, you don't have to worry about it because you've already overcome it. You're not going to be overtaken.
This is all based on the words of Jesus recorded in John 16:33, these things I have spoken unto you that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
Hopefully I am making enough sense to where you can see where the connection is. If Jesus has overcome the world, if Jesus has defeated Satan, and He is living inside of me, I have overcome because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I cannot be taken away. What an encouraging thing to be telling people!
He goes on to say I write unto you, little children, PAIDIA. This is a different Greek word that has to do with children that are old enough for discipline, correction. I write unto you, little children, because you have known the Father.
You have received good replies. To me, John is addressing those who will believe in the one after him, Jesus. The baptizing with fire in Matthew 3:11 and Luke 3:16 is after we accept and believe in Jesus as our savior and receive the Holy Spirit; we are then baptized with fire to refine us, as silver and gold are refined by fire.
These metals are put in a refining pot and placed over the fire. As the metals are heated, the impurities float to the top and are scooped off by a ladle and discarded, making the gold and silver purer. This fire represents trials and tribulations we go through to strengthen our faith and purify our hearts so that we become more like Christ, our pot is this world we live in.
Here are a few verses you may read: Malachi 3:2-3, Zachariah 13:9, 1 Corinthians 3:13, James 1:2-3, 1 Peter 1:7, 1 Peter 4:12.
There are more, and your search is part of your walk in faith. We must embrace trials and tribulations as signs that we are not alone and can have peace, as Jesus said in John 16:33.
I would like to ask for prayer - to be one with Christ, to have a relationship with Him as it says in John 16:24-33 and John 17:17, and to have the mind of Christ ( 1 Corinthians 2:16).
Dear Ruben what do we have left when we have failed, and in our eyes have sinned. We are all so different, really. One who does so cannot see his mistake, Another has sinned but does not see his sin. Here you must distinguish. There is a sin that is unto death. IS THE SAME and not believing in Jesus Christ! John 16:8-9. And then there are things that we struggled with. We always have something unfortunately. It is rare that we meet a day without a thought that is wrong, in our eyes we may Condemn ourselves. THAT we cannot/should not. Listen to your conscience. What is right? Go and mourn the lost life. And believe that everything you previously did for Jesus is rejected. That He would not accept the one who is burdened by sorrow and humiliation, because often it is humiliation. 2 Tess 3:3 When the Lord comes to restore all things, outside will be the dogs, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and makes a lie. Rev 22 We know that God is strict, but for our sake the law was abolished because of Jesus' Blood that flowed on Calvary. Amen! So when Jesus covers you with His Fullness. Then we know that Jesus is our Advocate. He has done everything for you. Hanged on the cross for you, It was you He saw. No believer who has known the Good Gift will abandon the Lord. But one who does not know what it means may try. But the Lord does not abandon us, What He has done He has done once for all. So cleanse yourself honest, fine Ruben, you are valuable not only to Jesus, buteveryonewhos andwhocomesintocontactwithyou!
Dear God Father in Heaven, You who Are. We come to you in humility and open our broken hearts to You Lord. We thank You for Your faithfulness to us, Your action Jesus Christ when You died in our place and took all sin upon Yourself. Lord we pray that You will truly reveal it to us Lord. We are so lost without Your guidance in our lives. Let us be in Your safety, and in Your strength Lord. Forgive us all the mistakes, in Jesus Christ name Amen. Gbu
Well in the THIRD wipeout (maybe I should do something about that pinky finger touching the wrong key) I thought I would get to another concept. That is the idea that we would never be fooled that being for any reason OTHER than the Spirit indwelling us as to falling for deception in the Tribulation in particular if we were to be there or anything for that matter in these last days of the church on earth.
I am convinced that many denominations today would have majority concensus that if the Antichrist appeared tomorrow they would find enough convincing logic to follow him blindly on the broad road to destruction. This is why they will as I quoted scripture the other day find it fitting to kill true faithful believers thinking they are "doing God a favor" ( John 16:2). That verse is focused on the Jews but in churches today eventually becoming part of "Mystery Babylon" the one world religion rapidly coming to pass today no doubt the same sentiment will result in many martyrs the first half of the Tribulation as I see it.
With so many crying "wolf" for so long when the final deception comes many will brush it off thinking they have seen it all before and before they know it this leader will have total control of the world. We need to realize that God Himself brings the strong delusion for His own purposes as we read in 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12. We see similar operations in the Old Testament in 1 Kings 22:22 where a lying spirit is given permission to speak through many for mass deception. Satan has his day also; his first time was at the time of the crucifixion; and the last will be with the other son of perdition as mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12. The first occurance with Judas Iscariot was to fulfill prophecy and to bring to pass the events that would lead to Christ's atoning sacrifice; and the second to gather the world together for Armageddon which occurs in Revelation 19; and then lead to judgment in Rev. 20.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. ( Matthew 10:22).
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. ( Revelation 3:10). Also see the next verse Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
This first verse no doubt could have a primary reference to enduring until the end of the Tribulation; but it also means that we should continue steadfast until the end of our lives on this earth; or the Rapture.
My last posting mentioned those who would think they are doing God a favor by killing us ( John 16:2). We must keep in mind that the first seal of Revelation brings about a false peace; as tied in to the Daniel 9:27 covenant with many. Naturally; the mindset of unregenerate man considers those against peace as being warmongers or traitors to the cause of world unity thence their removal from the world helps to promote the onset of the utopian society envisioned by those of such a mindset. Naturally; there will not only be the concept of a cessation of hostilities by armies fighting one another but that which promotes sin; veiled as free love; PRO deviant lifestyle; and prosperity for all. For such things to come to pass; there must be recognition of all religions; cultures and nations no matter how appalling their dogmas and practices. The surface appeal to whatever god you choose is; as 2 Timothy 3:5 states is a form of godliness denying its power (loosely translated) which is warned will be the doctrine of false teachers in the last days. All the false religions will seemingly have their prophecy of a "savior" come to pass; whether the 12th Imam (Mahdi); Maitreya or whatever false version of Christ one maintains faith in other than the literal Son of God. There will be twisting of Bible scriptures to validate as well.
Given one particular individual seeming to fit the end time Antichrist of late who I will not mention by name it seems fitting to review the scriptural descriptions of the final world leader and prepare ourselves for what is the inevitable end game as described in the Bible.
Introduction: God must judge the church first. ( 1 Peter 4:17). This is through the General Apostacy mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. We are headed for the final separation of the wheat from the chaff; and that reflects what is said in Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." ' This shows the primary separation before the Rapture of those who formerly professed faith in Christ but who did't LOVE the truth and therefore will believe THE LIE as stated in 2 Thessalonians 11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Consider for a moment those who haven't expressed an interest in Christ or spiritual things. There is no real appeal; at least at this time to such deception therefore there still can be hope. There are; no doubt others of all non Christian backgrounds and faiths that will also follow the deceiver but clearly Christians are targeted in these last days as we read in John 16:2 as to people thinking by killing us they are doing God a favor. That fit into the first century Jewish persecution of Christians by the Jewish establishment; but certainly could also foreshadow those who proclaim Christ and against the false Christ to come who will assist in building the Third Temple as well as bring together many to sign the Daniel 9:27 covenant at the onset of the Tribulation.
We will be viewed as the only ones against world peace.
I am temporarily interrupting my study in Matthew which started as insight on Christ's perfect manhood and Divinity.
Recently I have studied and seen several videos regarding revivals since the 1700's. I believe that there were instances of genuine conviction; weeping in particular due to conviction of the Spirit but also that sadly most of these movements if not immediately soon had clear evidences of false manifestations of demons which were taken to be "moves of the Spirit".
One of the more disturbing things which I see popping up today is the so called "fire of God". The verse I saw used and no doubt has been in several establishments is the idea of God being a "consuming fire". Whether it refers to the Lord transforming the earth after the Tribulation or at the end of the Millennium the context is pretty clear this is God's JUDGMENT. We must remember the Spirit comes as the helper ( John 14:26). Seeking the gifts of the Spirit is one thing; but to ask for more of the Spirit isn't what Luke 11:13 means it states how much more will He give you the Holy Spirit. To grow in grace and truth and in a way be more powerful spiritually comes through our obedience and love of Christ and His commandments. It isn't in other words an issue with God not willingly giving the Spirit which of course starts at salvation; or even more spiritual gifts but there is no scripture indicating we are to pray to the Spirit which proceeds from the Father ( John 15:26) and this is to testify of Him. Primarily it is as John 16:8 that describes the Spirit's role revealing sin; righteousness and judgment to come. We also must look inwardly as it is our sinfulness that led Him to the cross so any true experience should remind us as Peter said to Christ-depart from me for I am a sinful man ( Luke 5:8). The Spirit doesn't focus attention inward but outward to fulfill the Great Commission; albeit some things are meant for the Body only.
10. 1 Cor 3:16-17, "16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."
The grk for "temple" is "naos", that is a place where one lives in eg a house. And the Spirit lives in our bodies, His houses.
John 16:7-11, "7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:..."
11. 1 Cor 12:4-6, "4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all."
As seen gifts are given by the Spirit, administrations by Jesus our Lord, and diversities of operations by God.
12. 1 Cor 12:11, "But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as HE WILL."
13. Acts 15:28, "FOR IT SEEMED GOOD TO THE HOLY GHOST, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
14 Rom 18:26-27, "26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
2 Cor 13:13, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen."
Those are a few I found in the Bible but I think thery are enough to see that the Spirit is a person since it has characteristics of a person and not of an impersonal power.
Rev 22:17, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come."
4. John 14:16, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that HE may abide with you for ever".
The word another (in grk allon) and the word Comforter (Parakleitos) are of masculine gender in grk.".
5. John 16:7, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter (masculine) will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send HIM unto you."
Jesus had to go so the Spirit took His place in guiding the church.
6. John 14:13-16, "13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.14He shall glorify me: for HE shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you." Pay attention please, among others, to that " for he shall not speak of himself"
7. Acts 5:3-4, "3But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou GAST NOT LIED UNTO MEN, BUT UNTO GOD " Lie to a thing?
8. Acts 10:19-20, "19While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I HAVE SENT THEM" Also 11:12, "And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:"
9. Acts 13:2-4, "As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, SEPATATE ME Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.3And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.4So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus"
I have been considering your questions and praying how I can respond to help you. First of all, I will say that you can receive thoughtful responses on this forum. You can also find good answers to these two questions by searching the internet with these questions. The responses there may be as good if not better than what I or others have done so here on this forum. Not all internet sources are equally sound from a biblical perspective just as not all responses to your questions here are such. I would recommend the Got Question site as a start. They give a fairly concise explanation to your questions.
As I was thinking on your questions, I came to these responses:
1) Does Scripture speak of Jesus existing prior to His conception in Mary?
The first Scripture I will cite is John chapter 1. It does tell us that Jesus is the Word of God, who also is God, who was with God from the beginning. Jesus is said by John to have created all that has been created. And that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
John 8:56: Jesus says that He existed before Abraham existed. He used the term "I AM" in this verse which is a specific reference to the name God gave to Moses in Exodus 3, which means "I self-exist" or "I exist because I exist".
In many verses Jesus states that He came from heaven to earth, from the Father, being sent from the Father, that He is from above. The Gospel of John is replete with verses that state this.
John 8:23; John 1:18; John 3:1,17; John 6:38; John 17:21; John 3:34; John 18:36; John 1:15; John 3:12-13, 31-36; John 16: 27-28.
John 12:41refers back to Isaiah 6:5 where Isaiah saw the LORD seated on the throne and all the angels said "Holy, Holy, Holy".
John here says that Isaiah saw the glory of Jesus on the throne because he was speaking of Jesus is verses 37-40.
The New Testament states explicitly in many places that Jesus is the Christ (Jewish Messiah). In Micah 5:2 states that the Messiah existed for all eternity past.
Thanks, brother, I'm not the best at putting on paper my understanding. I know some Scriptures refer to the Holy Spirit as he, but the Spirit is the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God dwells in us, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16 and, more. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that does the work of God, Romans 15:19, Jesus did the miracles by the Holy Spirit, Matthew 12:28, Luke 4:18, Acts 10:38, Hebrews 2:4.
Jesus said the words He spoke were not His words but the Fathers and God did the works, this was done by the Holy Spirit through Jesus. John 14:10. Jesus said the Holy Spirit/Comforter proceedeth from the Father John 15:26, Jesus said the Holy Ghost will not speak of himself but what he is told, so the Holy Spirit is under the direction of the Father and Jesus, John 16:13.
All the salutations are from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is not in any salutations. In Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb is the temple of it. No Holy Spirit, what I see in Scripture is the Holy Spirit is the conduit that God works through and now Jesus as well.
I hope this gives you enough info to see how I see the Holy Spirit and I know that is not what many believe. I do not want to offend and I hope I don't, but this is what I see in Scripture. I do not see the Holy Spirit as a person but as the power of God that surrounds this earth by which God and Jesus dwell in us to communicate, guide, and comfort us.
RP

God bless,

G&P
John 16:33
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
Blessings
Agape; Rich P
Grace and Peace.

God bless,

Thank you!
13. Acts 15:28, "FOR IT SEEMED GOOD TO THE HOLY GHOST, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
Blessings.

God bless,
RLW
