This Hebrew word has been difficult to correctly translate. However, it is generally accepted that it means: to pause or to reflect at the end of the 'verse' (on what has just been read or sung). At times, it could also mean some type of musical term or provide musical direction. We know that Psalms, in Hebrew, are poetic in nature and often sung, especially to musical accompaniment: (see James 5:13). Also when the Lord spent his final hours with his disciples in the Upper Room, at the end of their meal, they had sung a hymn (very likely a Psalm) & then went out to the Mt. of Olives. However, Selah could possibly allow for some thanks and praise, as was suggested to you.
I keep a small bottle of pure olive oil set aside for blessing; and as soon as thie virus was announced, i blessed my home with it, and myself, according to James...
James 5:14
"Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:"
I used it also to anoint over my front door, in remembrance of those Faithful who anointed their doors with the blood of the lambs all those Centuries ago.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH the will of my Father which is in heaven
Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and (do not) the things which I say?
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? verse 22,23, 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
If you will read the book of James it will help.

There is only One Unforgivable Sin Vipin which is rejecting Jesus after knowing Him and than willfully Contining to Sin without guilt and Heart Repentance If we reject Jesus through who we are forgiven how can we be. But You are Repenting and not wanting to continue to Sin, I went to an Elder in the Church James 5:14-20 seeking forgivness and Healing my Heart was failing I was forgiven and healed.

I Believe, would you please Confirm with Scripture that Jesus Commited Sin and so needed to be Baptised and also the Scriptures in Contex that Confirm we Continue to Sin when we are Born Again of God's Seed or were you saying we don't when you said we become Spiritual not Carnal and if so it's True we don't continue to Sin because we can't. Blessings- Annie.

Dear Mary if everyone made up their own answers and yes some do or they have their own interpretation of Scripture there would be much more Confusion this is why we ask for God's Wisdom so we can understand Jas1:5-7 Life wisdom helps but God's Truth will be Confirmed in Scripture 1Tim3:16-17 and in His Creation Rom1:20 or through Prophesy and this will also be Confirmed as His Truth in Reality.
Acts 2:38 was for the remission of sins for the house of Israel who crucified Jesus. Today we claim Christ righteousness for the remission of sins Romans 3:25. You are baptized by the Spirit today and not by some man 1 Corinthians 12:13
Rexford Murphy what do you do with Acts 2:38? And other examples of baptism ?. Baptism is how we get rid of our sins. Yes, we all will continue to sin because we are in the flesh but he says we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Hubert is correct. The Holy Spirit helps guide us through prayer and our belief and faith. And desire to change our carnal self to spiritual.
What does God say about our Salvation Rexford does it include what Adam shared and Being Born Again of His Seed 1John3:9 and 5:18-20 We know He told us to be Perfected in His Love 1John4:16-19 Matt5:48 -Heb6:1 and to Work out our Salvation but not Meaning work for it Phil2:12 it's a Gift that we show we have fully after our Carnal Flesh has been put to death Rom8:12-15 Col3:4-6-Gal5:24-2 - Anne.
By the way Hubert .I forgot to mention to you that Baptism does not have one thing to do with being saved! If you think so you are still lost and without the Savior! The terms you spoke of were a part of the Kingdom Gospel Guess what? We are not there anymore but under the Gospel of Grace that Paul preached. Get your gospels straight! BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND YOU SHALL B SAVED!
Hubert Paul said Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved ! Period! You know exactly what you said means and what Paul meant! Stop mensing words! If you don t know .you are in big trouble! Are you caught up in following the law Hubert? You know what the INTENT OF THE WORD MEANS! Like I said IF YOU DON T, we need to pray for you!
Nowhere in God's word is this account stated as a folk story. All of the books refer to the events as literal happenings. By discrediting the hardships of Job you are also discrediting James 5:10-11.
Hi Richard, I interpret curse words or profanity or swearing as curses. Many verses talk about watching our tongue that it is like poison and can harm others. Curses are wishing harm or bad on others. Modern language profanity is the same as it's an attempt to wish bad harm on others. It also says to not swear. James 5:12.
Romans Ch 10:9 is as close as it gets to accepting Jesus as savior. Many denominations use this scripture as backup for their "sinners prayer." However you are correct in that to be truly saved is to repent, and be converted. Acts Ch 3:9 that you may hear the voice of the Lord. That you may hear the Truth, and the cure to the deception the devil has sowed on mankind with his lies. Ephesians 6:12
I LOVE JAMES. IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS. HUBERT, I DON'T WISH TO ANTAGONIZE YOU BUT THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. DOES IT HAVE TO BE IN THE BIBLE TO BE RIGHT? IS NOT ACCEPTING JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR NOT A GOOD THING? I DO AGREE PEOPLE OFTEN SAY THINGS AS GOSPEL THAT ARE NOT IN THE BIBLE BUT IN THIS CASE I THINK IT IS A GOOD THING.
So many people say to accept the Lord as your personal savior,,, but I don't see that scripture in the Bible, but I do see where the man that had the keys to the kingdom, to repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. If it's in the Bible let's say it if it's not in the Bible let's don't say it
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations
James 5:11
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
1 Corinthians 7:27-28, "Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned." 1 Corinthians 7:15, "But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases." What could be more of a bondage than telling someone they can't get married when they have passions like Elijah and us ( James 5:17)? Its the precious and powerful Truth. We had a 15 year old girl who is a relative of mine who attended our church and she since birth had seizures and the doctors could not figure out the cause or how to stop them. We took her up front one Sunday anointed her with oil and prayed over her and since that day (praise God ) she has never had another one . James 5:14 says to do this. Its 6 yrs later.
"...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." If we are to have power with God in prayer, we are to walk as the prophets walked, as Elijah and Job walked, in the midst of this present vile generation of greedy and deceitful lovers of self, who make their wealth off the misuse of others. The fire of truth and zeal for God must be in our heart, and we must keep our integrity no matter how painful our earthly losses. Humility maintains a good conscience and holds truth in higher regard than every threat, and sustains us through every accusation of the wicked posing as brothers and friends in the Lord. The husbandman must labor before partaking of the fruits, and we must be proved before being entrusted with power in the world to come. The way of virtue and piety, which is the evidence of grace and the life of faith, is the way we will endure true and faithful to the end.
James 5:14
"Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:"
I used it also to anoint over my front door, in remembrance of those Faithful who anointed their doors with the blood of the lambs all those Centuries ago.
Jesus i so trust in Thee. Amen

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? verse 22,23, 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
