The fountain where the angel met Hagar is a symbol of Christ.Jesus is the fountain of life. When you come to Him,every trouble and confusion in your life recieve solution.Jesus is the Way and not a way.Hagar's life embraces peace as soon as she accepted the Way.She returned and was welcomed.
Sari didn't have the faith that she was going to have a child, having offered her maid toAbram. She brought all the negative things on herself and blamed everyone else for her actions. It was amazing that the Angel of the Lord spoke to Hagar and she acknowledged God.
The lord we serve is a living God that fulfill His promises. Let us learn how to remain focused on Him.He is a God that knows the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end.
Gen. 16, the God that we serve is a awesome God. He has told us that to everything there is a time. i think Sarah should have waited a bit, because the promise of God can not but be fulfilled in Abraham.it was the impatience of Sarai that brought the problem they encountered. However, the God that changeth not intervened and took control over everything. i think we should always allow God to direct us in every of our decisions so that we don't make mistake. Bless you.
Derek...True words you have spoken...Amazing it is to me that Ishmael became the Father of Islam and Isaac became the Father of Jews and Christianity. This must be the longest family feud in the history of man!
Habaakkuk 2 3 says it all. But Adam should 't have listened to Eve. Just as Abrahm Shouldn 't have listened to Sarai. Nevertheless God had a plan. AMEN.
if we rely on our own understanding and try to give solution in our own way, it will add only sorrow to it Genesis 16 1 5 . and that 's what Sarai did and made a mistake by not waiting upon the Lord Proverbs 3 5 7
Sarah made mistake because she looked at how difficult her situation is rather than God who is able to make all things possible. No matter what you are going through, remove your eyes from the situation, look up to God who is able to make all things possible.
No matter how situation you are passing through this is telling us that we should bear it for some time and God will find the solution to it. You will overcome your problem IJN. Amen
it appears that the state of unrest in the Middle East is directly related to this prophecy, as the modern day Arabs are direct descendants of Ishmael and when they are not fighting against when they are not fighting Israel they are fighting among themselves i
Our earthly wisdom is nothing but foolishness in the sight of God. The moment we stop being spiritual, the carnal worldly fleshly man will rise up since we all know nature abhors vacuum. One moment of walking in the flesh can cause so much trouble and we need Grace to always stand by whatever God has promised through His Written Word or Rhema divine revelation . I Corinthians 1 25 says 'Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men. ' Romans 8 8 says 'So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God '. Lastly, Proverbs 3 5 6 encourages us to 'Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. '. That you made a mistake does not mean God cannot turn it around for good, after all Ishmael came from the loins of Abraham and if God had disallowed Hagar from conceiving for Abraham, there would have been no Ishmael, but God is the Governor of the Universe and nothing happens anywhere or anytime without His permission. He alone takes all the glory
IT PAYS TO WAIT UPON GOD.
HABAAKKUK 2:3
FOR THE VISION IS YET FOR AN APPOINTED TIME, BUT AT THE END IT SHALL SPEAK AND NOT LIE: THOUGH IT TARRY, WAIT FOR IT; BECUSE IT WILL SURELY COME, IT WILL NOT TARRY.
Jeniffer Modeste-Wharton St. Matt 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

1 Corinthians 6:2–3 tells us that Christians can judge angels then why would we want to be an angel in heaven when we are greater than angels on earth.
Although he was not the promised child, Ishmael was still precious in God's sight and even though he had been revealed to be a child of wrath, God gave him a possession among his brethren. God loves us all: the good, the bad, the ugly and that's why he causes his rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
Christine I agree with you: leviticus 19:20 also potrays a similar scenerio though not the same as this one. But in the handmaid is saved from death because she was not free to make a choice. Our God is full of compelling comp***ion. .
I've thought much about Hagar. She was a servant/slave. Without her thoughts or feelings on the matter-She was forced to be marry and sleep with and then bare a child that was to be considered not hers but Sarah's. She was told this wouldn't be her child.... Imagine her pain. The Lord said' I have heard of thy affliction" Hagars response was I see him who sees me.
From this verse, God shows that our flesh is under our control, sometimes we fall in to temptations, we face difficulties physically, we fail to obey Him because we have given our flesh the whole of our attention. All that our worldly body requires, which is in war with our spiritual body is under our own control.
