  • Mishael on Pharaohs Hard Heart - In Reply on Exodus 7 - 5 years ago
You need to read more slow, Exodus 1 through to chapter 11 & 12.

The children of Israel were slaves to Egypt for 400 years: subject to starvation often and body breaking work to build Pharaohs cities, monuments, etc.

Pharaoh had all male newborns killed to control Jewish numbers. Was that fair?

They finally seriously started crying out to God to deliver them! Don't feel sorry for Pharaoh. The story inExodus is different from Hollywood's Version.

God knew Pharaoh was not going to let them go, so He alerted Moses to prepare for Passover, and spread lambs blood over the door mantles and celebrate the first Passover meal.

The last plague was When God sent the Destroyer through Egypt and all firstborn of Egyptians fell dead; even Pharaohs son.

There was no more haggling about herds and cows for sacrifices; Pharaoh told Moses to take everything and get out!

The children of Israel leave, but then Pharaoh chases them to the Red Sea to slaughter them.

I think Pharaoh had every chance to change his mind.

God is at work within human wills to see the sheer miracle of earths creation to understand that none of this crawled out of the water onto land and walked until it evolved into humans. Romans 1 says clearly that we are able to understand that Someone made all of this! It says we are without excuse if we don't see it. Then we become: WITHOUT EXCUSE. Like Pharaoh we are left alone with our decision to oppose ourselves, and God.

Some people just aren't going to be saved.

Only people who can see God in his Creation, and accept the Creator of that creation; will respond to His Word, The Holy Bible, and the people who carry the Good News that Jesus Christ was born, lived a sinless life; was crucified for the sins of all mankind; was in the tomb 3 days and was Resurrected on that 3rd day, Victorious over

    Death, Hell and the Grave!!

We can trust Jesus in all things pertaining to Life.

according to exodus it was in God's plan to harden pharaohs heart, but does this explicitly imply that pharaoh never had a chance.

But these TARES, having God's power-but NOT FROM God, directly-but INSTEAD by-way-of devils, DO great works ( Matthew 24:24-25; Exodus 7:8-12; Exodus 7:15-22; Exodus 8:5-7; BUT God may limit them as in Exodus 8:16-19; Exodus 9:8-11), and fool men into becoming ensnared by Satan (which is MY assumption, not direct witnessing). AND these, as now BONDED to the Devil, DO the Devil's desire-destroying ALL which is in the eye of their scope. Destroying both air, land, AND sea. Both insect, plant, man AND beast. As they LIE as they worship said VERY THINGS! Praying to the heavens-moon, sun, AND trees! And they HATE with an CRUEL hate, with a fiery INTENSITY, all those, whose right-ways, shine the

Moses was a prophet because he spoke with God. Today, he is still speaking through prophets in these last days. Moses had a good education in Egypt. Yet he was not eloquent, still our Lord chose him for his purpose of saving Israel. Today is the same, our Lord is choosing the humble people to do his work. Many disregard the calling because they are distracted in the world. They refuse like Egypt.

@ Irene123- Exodus 7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Another example of had to be a snake cause couldn't cast down a croc. Just saying LoL

Verse 1~Jehovah God had made Moses like a god to Pharaoh in regards to the authority he had. Pharaoh didn't worship Moses, but Moses was over Pharaoh in power.

"Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land. And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt." God knows the difference between His servants, His people, and the heathen His enemies. He uses weak to confound the mighty and deliver the oppressed from them.

End of day 18 in the "Bible in a Year Reading. Had to play catchup having missed yesterday. I love reading and contemplating these chapters that span the life of Moses. When Moses had to flee from Pharaoh he had to leave everything behind unlike today I can only imagine the hostilities that he could have encountered. God protected him and Moses depended upon God to deliver his people.

Verse 3: Jehovah God is spoken of as making Pharaoh's heart hard here. This refers to God allowing Pharaoh's heart to become hard. He did not for Pharaoh to be hard-hearted.

God made Moses a god to Pharaoh, little g,the Egyptians worshiped creation and the creature more than the creator see Romans chapter 1. some of their gods which were many was the serpent, and the life giving water of the Nile River they saw both these helpless and hopeless to their defense against the God of Moses and Aaron. Likewise any god we put before God will be helpless in the day of judgment

God said he made Moses a god unto pharaoh... this is an indication to believers that no matter how big or terrible the mountain or stumbling block that stand before us we should see them as no barrier before us because to God they are powerless and that God has made us a god to them all.

The Elect of God, the Faithful in Christ, have now a long time been under subjection to a wicked and perverted world; and the LORD is coming down to deliver us and to judge the world for its evil. The first sign; the rod of Moses turned into a serpent; indicates that God sends the devil to punish the wicked. The waters are then turned to blood because they have filled the land with innocent blood.

God is ruler over all. Gods' way will prevail, no matter how hard we try to fight. We have temptations and we sin, but if we repent, we can prevail and live according to how Jehovah wants us to live. NO MATTER WHAT, GOD IS!!!!!!

Exodus 7:1 "See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh." It does not say that God made Moses one of Pharaoh's gods. Pharaoh's gods were false gods.

Our Apostolic Bible Institute is studying this Exodus Book. Isn't it interesting that that God made Moses one of Pharaoh's gods.

I am sure it broke God's heart he had to so harshly convince the Egyptians of their sin. Right will always be right.

Although pharaohs sorcerers could turn water into blood the one thing pharaohs sorcerers couldn 't do is to make these curses go away. This is why god is the one true god.

vs 3 ' And I will harden Pharaoh 's heart and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt ' ......GOD IS IN CONTROL OVER OUR DIFFERENCES ON EARTH ..... HIS PRIME CONCERN IS TO WORSHIP THE LORD JEHORVAH THE ONLY GOD ..

Hello Vedamony Titus Yes, we do have a free will. There are examples of men given a choice to follow God or follow evil. Exodus 32 36 Deuteronomy 30 19 Joshua 24 15 1 King 18 21 Jesus said that you cannot serve two masters, Luke 16 13, in other words make a decision on who you want to serve. You even have a choice whether or not you want to follow Acts 2 38.

Jehovah God gave Moses divine power and authority over Pharaoh. Hence, there was no need to be afraid of that king.
  • Rich on Psalms 82:6 - 12 years ago
Psalm 82, one might consider, has God say "Ye are gods" that is as in an understanding of Exodus 7:1. And that is: "7 And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet."

This understanding is part of the burning bush anointing where Moses and Aaron learn for example, Exodus 4:15-16:

"15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God."

Many people at workplaces mistreat Born again christian as Pharaoh did to the children of Israel. However, Our Mighty God will NEVER FORSAKE his people; they cheat their pay , they segregate payment etc. I find great meaning in this verse. Be Blessed. Amen.

This verse demonstrates the point that the term God/god can apply to creatures. Trinitarian M.J. Harris says in "Jesus as God, the New Testament Use of Theos in Reference to Jesus" that the terms ‘god’ or 'gods’ apply to the following persons:
“Human rulers or judges, regarded as divine representatives or as bearers of divine authority and majesty ( Exod. 21:6; 22:8 [cf. 1 Sam. 2:25]; Judg. 5:8; Psalm 82:1, 6) b. Spiritual or heavenly beings, including God ( Gen. 1:27) and angels ( Psalm 8:6 [Engl. V. 5] c. Angels ( Ps. 97:7 138:1) d. Heathen gods with their images ( Exod. 20:23; Jer. 16:20) ... both el, [meaning ‘god’] and elohim [meaning ‘gods’], have extended or ‘irregular’ applications to angels or to persons who represent on earth divine power, judgment, or majesty.” - pages 24, 26.

Given what Moses in Deuteronomy 33:8 calls "thy Thummim and thy Urim" is called in Joshua 9:14, "the mouth of the Lord", can help us to read Exodus 15-16, "15And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

16And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God." The way of the Seer that is established with the burning bush anointing is comfirmed in Exodus 7:1," 1And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet." Note: "Maimonides writes that the Urim and Thumim, although present in the Second Holy Temple, did not perform their intended function because in order for one to receive a message through the Urim and Tumim, one must posses the "holy spirit", Ruach HaKodesh[3], which no one possessed during that time period. 5 And the Egyptians shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

In this verse: It shows GOD's JUDGEMENT on those who oppose his WORD, yet he shows HE has all power. HE will bring HIS children out of EGYPT. We being HIS children are in EGYPT, HE will bring us out.
