It 's a way God tells us that no matter what we do somewhere are heart desires unprofitable works that seem to have no consequences but come with quick conviction by judgement
  • MockingBird on Ecclesiastes 12:13 - 10 years ago
To fear God is to have a reverential trust in Him not to be afraid of Him but to have a fear of displeasing Him !! We do not get rewarded for our duty 's, although it is a Joy to do our duty unto our Lord . The Lord 's commandments are not grievious. God did not leave us alone we have Holy Spirit within guiding and directing our every step.

I heard people make up excuses for Not believing in GOD YET they don 't read the bible. They don 't pray they don 't worship GOD. THEY really don 't want to hear the conclusion of thewhole matter. Because if they did they BELIEVE.

God gives breath too all.. HE gives Spirit too some, who have Christ Jesus An HE takes back what is HIS when man dies.. His Breath an His Spirit... Those without Christ JEsus Son OF God die, Dust to dust ases to ashes. Those who saved in the LAmb JEsus, they may rest in dust an ashes for the moment, but will be raised back to life,re given Gods Breath an life to live with GODhead. Evil men have just enough breath in them to live, to try to get see God.. Unless they with their will choose Jesus as Lord an Son of God. THEn they will not see heaven. God bless You

When the spirit, or life force, leaves the body, the body dies and returns to where it came from the earth. Comparably, the life force returns to where it came from God. This does not mean that the life force actually travels to heaven. Rather, it means that for someone who dies, any hope of future life rests with Jehovah God. His life is in God s hands, so to speak. Only by God s power can the spirit, or life force, be given back so that a person may live again.

I have often thought of this Scripture and have even quoted it, when someone mentions the subject of "departed spirits ". I always believed that this refutes any truth of their being any such thing! But, recently, I read a comment one made about dying and they said that we don 't go to be with our Lord until He returns, based on the Scriptures in 1 Thessalonians 4 16, 17. It was, somewhat, disturbing, as I had always thought...based on the Word...that when a person who believes, passes from this life, they are transported into the Kingdom of God in Heaven. I would, very much, like to have some thoughts, or understanding on this subject. Thank you God Bless!

duty or another translations put it as obligation.I think it is good to understand the meaning of the word Something you are bound to due out of a sense of duty. With that in mind, I think we have to admit that Jehovah God gives us alot of freedom in life. The one thing he requires of is too keep his commandments, and maintain a healthy fear of displeasing him. That is the whole duty of men. We were still created to enjoy life, raise a family if you choose to, pursue goals etc. etc. However, we must never forget we also have a duty to our Creator.
  • RASAKI ADEBIYI on Ecclesiastes 12:12 - 10 years ago
My understanding of this statement, by Solomon, is that we should do all things in moderation.
  • Harry Osei Agyapong on Ecclesiastes 12:14 - 11 years ago

  • Tim George on Ecclesiastes 12:5 - 11 years ago
The journey of life is a wonderful one as man once enjoyed the beauty of the trees and the grasshoppers as well as the singing of the birds Yet as life comes to an end the fear of heights and the sounds of the birds sings which once brought joy brings fear and desire of all the days of youth as well as romance goes away Then man is carried to his grave and those that mourn him are in the streets The soul returns to the Lord that made it awaiting the glorified body promised by the Lord Jesus Christ who is the first fruits of all those who sleep in the grave

Fear (reverence) God and keep His commandments, For this is the whole (completion of ) man.
Keeping God's commandments gives us a relatonship with God, without which we are an incomplete being.
  • James Dixon on Ecclesiastes 12:11 - 11 years ago
All Scripture is given to men through the Spirit
    Prophecy never came from man.
Christ gave Himself to man as a substitue for his failures.
Both are from well driven nails.

Solomon clearly doesn't believe in death, but rather a spiritual transition, a separation from the physical body. He understands that he is not his body, and that his body, although a marvelous wonder, will return to the dust from which it was made.

All of these references are allusions to that transition.

The silver cord tethers the spirit to the body, and may very well function as an umbilical cord from which your body is quickened by the spirit.

Now he references parts of a metaphor that he feels doesn't require an explanation.

The golden bowl would be the vessel from which you drink. The pitcher is used to transfer the water from the well to the bowl, and the wheel at the cistern grants you the ability to draw from the well to fill the pitcher.

The metaphor is about drawing on the waters of life (spiritual refreshment) that you receive from God. Almost certainly the same waters Christ mentions to the woman at the well.

All worldly things is indeed foolish to God because it has no purpose in spiritual life. Therefore we need to do things as heavenly ambassadors.
  • Nancy on Ecclesiastes 12:5 - 11 years ago
This verse surely carry a deep meaning for it show that there should be no far for old age. This is God creation and again mankind fear death its all our passage and to reach to the father we shall all pass through there as well its a long journey yes but remember after this there shall be happiness with the Lord high up in heaven where there will be no day or night its praising and worshiping isn't that wonderful.

Christians are necessarily obligated to obey God's Law as it is portrayed in the Scripture. Unfortunately, too many professing Christians do not know what the Scripture teaches and do not really care. They want the benefits of Christianity, but they do not want to comply withits laws

The only interpretation that comes to my mind is that unless we honor God in every aspect of our existence; our living is useless.

  • Linda on Ecclesiastes 12:10 - 12 years ago
Many have attended classes to learn how to teach, many learned from each other. Religion can be confusing, and the world is big, and there are so many sources but the bible is my only source of learning interweaved with prayer. When one represents God it should be acceptable to God. This is a scripture that every teacher should acknowledge. Our job is to take care of the sheep, everyone should apply God’s word to their life, to apply means to take action, seek out. To truly teach is to find the best we will find that a wise person lives with eternity values. The scriptures give us eternity values, a sermon should never be rushed, it should always be much thought and care taken. This is God we are speaking for, we should show the world how awesome the creator truly is.
  • Andy on Ecclesiastes 12 - 12 years ago
In verse 6 Solomon is using four different metaphors (parables) to say ''death of the flesh''. We might say ''kick the bucket'' or ''bought the farm''. Verse 7 then explains as simply as can be stated what happens next. There is nothing new under the sun.
  • Andrew on Ecclesiastes 12 - 13 years ago
ECC.12:6 if i may ; i see this as things that man has made such as silver cord or a golden bowl or broken pitcher or a broken wheel as for the cistern. It reflects on the living waters of life then as unto Christ becoming the the true source of life. The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep His commandments. In psalms 40:7 speaks about the volume as to which you shall be judged out of. I hope this shine a light so that others may express their thoughts as well.
  • KP on Ecclesiastes 12:12 - 13 years ago
I understand what Solomon mean't when he said this. No matter how far we go in life there never seem to be an end. We are never satisfied. The more knowledge we get on this earth, the more miserable we are. Solomon really knew what he was tlaking about.
