1 Chronicles 28:7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, [if] he be [constant] to [do] my commandments [and] my judgments, as at this day.
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and [keepeth not] his commandments, [is a liar], and [the truth is not in him].
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they [that keep] the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Exodus 16:28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to [keep] my commandments and [my laws?]
Deuteronomy 6:25 And it shall be our righteousness, [if] we observe to [do all] these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
1 Kings 8:61 Let your heart therefore be [perfect] with the LORD our God, to [walk] in his statutes, and to [keep] his commandments, as at this day.
Psalms 119:21 Thou hast rebuked the [proud] that are [cursed], which [do err] from thy commandments.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and [keep] his commandments: for this is the [whole duty] of man.
1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we [keep] his commandments, and [do] those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1 John 3:24 And he that [keepeth] his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Deuteronomy 11:28 And a [curse], if ye will [not obey] the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
Proverbs 4:4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: [keep] my commandments, and [live].
Proverbs 10:8 The [wise] in heart [will] receive commandments: but a [prating fool shall fall].
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are [they] that [do] his commandments, that [they] may have right to the tree of life, and [may enter] in through the gates into the city.
Look what God tells us when we read the final 2 verses of Ecclesiastes - He literally tells us our ENTIRE duty as men and women.
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: FOR THIS IS THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
How easy it is to miss the truth when we take a single verse out of context to mean whatever we want.
Since it's written, by God: all souls are mine.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the Earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 3:21.
New Testament Scriptures on Christian spirits: Hebrews 12:23, Luke 23:46; Matthew 22:32, 1 Thessalonians 5:10,
1 Peter 3:18, 2 Corinthians 5:1-8
John 17-24, Philippians 1:21-24

Love to all. Mishael
(So when I said he will teach natural born Israel in the wilderness 3 half yrs upon his return, that other 3 half years makes the 7yrs which represents a full week of his ministry. 7 years is a prophetic week. (please reference the story of Jacob and Rachel in Genesis 29:16-27 to understand what I mean by this. (7yrs is 1 week)
In Daniel 10 (For Jesus to have been annointed the "Messiah" was 69 weeks, which left 1 more week (7yrs) a prophetic week.)(This about Jesus, Jerusalem, and the children of Israel, not the anti-Christ nor a 7yr tribulation. Jesus was annointed the Messiah in 26A.D(69 weeks) and cut off in 30 A.D. (70th week/7yrs/7th week)
Revelation 12:1;6;14 (This is talking about natural born Israel in the place of safety(The Wilderness) during the Great Tribulation. 3 1/2 yrs.
On Paul and John. II Corinthians 12:2 (Jesus was the ONLY man who was on earth then caught up to the 3rd heaven. So Paul is talking about how he saw Jesus in his spiritual body. Paul is not talking about himself. And John saw a vision of the Throne. He was not physically there.
John 3:13 No man has ascended up to heaven but he who ascended out of heaven. (if any man other than Jesus is in heaven right now then Jesus lied; he cannot lie so we should all know the dead is still dead and their spirit is not conscious in heaven presently able to communicate with any being).
Psalms 104:23; 28-29 Man dies/returns to the dust. Ecclesiastes 12:1;5;7 Man goes back to the dust;his spirit goes to God. (spirit is simply the breath of life).
Concerning "where do our souls go after we die."
I see it basically the same way you do.
I try to always make it a point to use Scripture to back up Scripture (as you do); otherwise, I don't have much to say.
I use the parable of the rich man and Lazarus to justify that our bodies return to dust, and our "spirit returns to God Who gave it" ( Ecclesiastes 12:7).
I am hoping and praying that I am on the right side of the gulf waiting with Abraham and Lazarus and the others that have made it ( Luke 16:26).
You bring up some interesting points.
I would like to ask a few questions.
If it is true that "our spiritual change was accomplished at our repentance and re-birth at the foot of the cross," then do you believe "once saved, always saved"? I have not found that understanding to be in Scripture.
You also state that "This is purely a bodily change as will occur to those who "sleep in Christ." Do you believe that no person that has already died is in heaven with God and Jesus? If they are in heaven, do they have any "garments" ( Revelation 16:15) on?
You are correct concerning 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 being the same (end-time teaching), however, they cover death (rendered "sleep") from a slightly different angle.
The lesson we are given in 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 has to do with a question posed by Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:12 concerning, in general, "the resurrection of the dead" ( 1 Corinthians 15:12). If you believe that Christ rose from the dead, then those that (have already) sleep / die / pass on, are already with Him, ( 1 Corinthians 15:13), also look at John 3:12, Romans 8:6.
In 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, Paul states that "We which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent (Strong's #5348- precede) them which are asleep (dead). Why? Because they are already dead: This is why "the dead in Christ shall rise first" ( 1 Thessalonians 4:16). So, "If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them which sleep (have already died) in Jesus will God bring with Him (at the 7th trump)" ( 1 Thessalonians 4:14). The dead are not in a hole in the Ground, they are with the Father the moment they pass ( Ecclesiastes 12:6-7). Ecclesiastes 12:7 is the O.T. reference as to why Paul states "By the word of the Lord" in 1 Thessalonians 4:14.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
>If I seek to obey any of God's Laws, including the Sabbath, then I am judged by the Law & voluntarily exempt myself from salvation by Grace & not the Law.
Jesus disagrees with this in John 14:15. Jesus directly says if you love him you will keep his commandments (law). If you don't obey, then you don't love Jesus. If someone doesn't love or follow Jesus then they likely won't be invited to spend eternity with Him in heaven.
James 2 explains how grace and works work together. Its possible what you were trying to say is actually from James 2:10, but it doesn't say what you wrote. If you read on it clearly supports doing good works. No where in the Bible does it say we're NOT supposed to obey God or Jesus. It says the opposite throughout.
I watch out for anyone claiming good works are 'bad', as if following Jesus and his commands are bad. But somehow that not worrying about following Jesus's commands is 'ok' despite the exact words Jesus said that say the opposite. Ecclesiastes 12:13 Calling good bad sounds awfully familiar as if it comes a deceiver.
If you pursue Christ you are a Christian under grace, but following Him is an activity involving effort. It's not human effort that saves anyone, but it should be the natural fruit of loving Jesus. Many call themselves Christians and don't love Jesus, because they don't obey, and they will be surprised in the end just as Jesus predicted: Revelation 3:16 and Matthew 7:21 and Hebrews 10:26.
When is the fullness of the Gentiles complete? Romans 11:25-36
Matthew 24:36, 42, 44
Mark 13:32
Acts 1:11
And now a reminder: Ecclesiastes 12:9-14
I love the Scripture Bob quoted 'perfect love casts out all fear' but that is what Jesus did in action & it's what we do when we LOVE Him, we trust Him through all fear, because He is faithful. Psalms 23:4 , Psalms 27:3 , Psalms 33:18 , Psalms 49:5
Be encouraged, Jude 1:24
I pray God lead you to a good Church
