No where in Scripture does it say we continue to Sin untill we die if we are Born Again of God's Seed He tells us to Work out our Salvation not meaning work for it to put our Carnal flesh to death by The Spirit Romans 8:15-2Tim2:19-21- Colossians 3:4-6 to be Perfect like He is Matthew 5:48 - Hebrews 6:1 We will No longer Sin Read all of 1John 3 and -5:18-20-2:28-29- Jn 8:34-36 Rom6and8 Danial12:10.

I am not saying Jesus is wrong. I am saying your understanding of what he is saying there is wrong. He was not telling the woman that because she was forgiven she could not sin anymore. He was saying i have forgiven you from now on don't make the same mistake again which in her case was adultery. That does not in any way indicate that she was without sin.
  • Cindy - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 5 years ago
Read 1 John 1:8. If you say you have no sin you deceive yourself and the truth is not in you. We can not be without sin in the flesh. All we can do is be forgivin for it cleansed from the penalty of sin. That is what Jesus did for us. In order to understand scripture correctly you need to compare scripture with scripture and understand contest.

John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. Jesus is not confused and he didn't tell anyone to do anything that couldn't be done.

Matthew 5:33-35, - Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth, Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

Correction hides pride, giving place to the fear of the LORD. The fear of the LORD, and not men, brings repentance. Repentance is true confession of thine own sins with the good conscience of a humbled heart and mind. GOD forgives, forgetting that man's sins, giving him faith in Christ. Faith in Christ is righteousness, opening his eyes to eternal life. Now fruitful, that man enters GOD'S Kingdom.

GOD corrects man, hiding pride from his heart. Man, fearing GOD, repents by confessing his own sins with a pure heart and in good conscience. GOD remembers his sins no more and gives him the gift of faith through Jesus Christ the righteous. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to GOD must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Repent does not mean to stop sinning. It mean to rethink. Stop having faith in idols and put it on Jesus. Stop putting your faith in the law and put it on Jesus. The catholic defenition of repentance is wrong the greek defenition is the correct one. God repented several times in the Bible. Do you think he sinned? I am not against repentance . most don't even know what it means.

GOD is the judge and, being my Holy Father, gives me my judgment. Had ye confessed my coming upon seeing IT, ye would be as holy Angels of GOD in the body of Christ. But being the children of disobedience, ye speak hypocrisy, perverting the Scriptures on the Sabbath day, hoping to drown men in perdition for filthy lucre's sake. Yet, GOD corrects a servant, who shall REPENT, and BELIEVE the Gospel.
  • Cindy - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 5 years ago
You can not stop sinning in the flesh. Biblical repentance is turning to Christ for salvation not trying to earn it yourself. After you are born again your inner man can not sin. Apostle Paul said that when he sins it is not him that does it but his flesh. If you think you don't sin anymore you need to re-evaluate yourself.
  • I, even I, am that Michael Isaac Dale: - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 5 years ago
Who are you? I tell you, Nay: but, EXCEPT YE REPENT, ye shall all LIKEWISE PERISH. For I am not come to call the righteous, but SINNERS to REPENTANCE. And the times of this ignorance GOD winked at but now commands all men every where to REPENT: Therefore to HIM that knows to do good, and does IT not, to HIM IT IS SIN. There is joy in the presence of the Angels of GOD over one SINNER that REPENTED.
  • Cindy - In Reply on Colossians 3 - 5 years ago
Biblical repentance in context is to rethink or change your mind. Nowhere in scripture does it say repent of your sins. God repented several times he can not sin. We are to change our mind about where we put our faith and turn it to Jesus. It involves no human merit what so ever.

Hear again O man, for as long as this heaven and earth remain, so will these wicked pervert the right ways of the LORD JESUS. And, for as long as Christ is in his flesh, so shall ye be in your flesh. And the woman whom GOD favours shall sleep until you repent of your own sins, giving place to faith. Thus, There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

Laws, statues, and commandments are not done away with like many Christians think - there are over 600.. Sacrifices were only ended. Grace gave us time to get it as right as possible before your death on the end of the world, then judgement will come. All of this is with respect to the Messiah - the son of TMH. Colossians 3:17, Hebrews 9:15. Faith Works are a must James 2:22.

"...above all these things put on charity,3:14" "Charity...beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth." 1Cor.13:4-8; "3:14 ...the bond of perfectness", capsules the essence of The Godhead and the Word; God is Love. Love sent His Son to Calvary that we may have eternal life, because of this Love came the Comforter--the Spirit of Truth.

God gave me Col. 3 a few years back. While walking and talking to God He brought up Col. 3. I broke down crying because I was very depressed and needed strengeth and encouragement. Because of God's grace, love and mercy I'm still here. I think, meditate and apply Col. 3 nearly every day since that time. All because of the power of the Holy Spirit am I able to live the Christian life. Praise God ..

Christ died for us and if we want to we can invite Him into out hearts for salvation. Someone of us ride in our cars to church. Some have to walk and others hitch a ride with someone. We are all going to the same place church. So maybe our comfort zone has been invaded and the hairs on our neck stands up. But if itt's only a change of sound and not doctrine we need to thank God others are coming.

The Lord put this verse in my heart, Colossians 3:2
"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." It seems we sometimes worry too much on our life, marriage, children, but forget we should be focusing on Him and searching his kingdom

Thank you Steve marrow. I have a situation at my church (independent Bible Believing Baptist KJV). My pastor is playing and making rock music that sounds very dark. Please pray for my family as well as my church. Thankyou.

    A disciple or Steve marrow-
In reference to verses 16 and 17, is it sin to listen to hard rock sounding music with drums and guitars that doesn't have words? Obviously it feeds the flesh, is it sin?

Verse 5~We must continue to keep control of our desires so that they do not get out of hand and we end up becoming a slave to them and making them our god.

Sabrina; What are you confused about? This Epistle like all Epistles is about how to understand and put in practice the grace of God given to us in the Glad Tidings of Jesus Christ; and how to perform from the heart without hypocrisy what is good and well pleasing to God, in a world set to defy and contradict Him. Line by line, line by line, precept upon precept, as we walk in the Light we grow.
