Leshane - Thank God for you, too!! I don't 'comment' on here anymore, as of a week ago because - it was taking up ALL my time - just as FB did, which I also dropped. But I do browse the comments from time to time> Maybe you can take my place for awhile - until you get tired of it - lol; I WILL be praying for your witness ................

Praise the Lord sis IRENE123 commenting on post from 2 4 17. Be encouraged in the Lord my sister. Holiness is right and without it no man shall see the LORD. Isaiah 35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness, the unclean shall not pass over it but it shall be for those: the wayfarying men, though fools ,shall not err therin. Holiness is right

Unicorns - 'could' have been rhinos, or an animal that is now extinct. It 'could' have been a horse with a horn. Whatever they were - or weren't - their reality or non- has nothing to do with Acts 2:37-38.
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
Barbara - to sleep with the fathers was to go to the bosom of Abraham. As Jesus wasn't manifest yet the saved couldn't go to heaven with Him. And yet Jesus, after he rose from the dead went into hell to get the 'keys' from satan to release the captives. I haven't heard teaching on these 2 aspects so I won't confuse you any further. This has nothing to do with salvation now - which is by Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
The book of Romans was written to the church in Rome, but not the one that is predominant there now. This EARLY church was established after Acts 2:38 was preached by Peter. The ch. in Rome had already gone thru Acts 2:38; this letter is an 'epistle', which simply means letter, a letter of further instruction for their life long walk with Jesus. V. 9 refers to DAILY acknowledging Him in prayer.
  • Irene123 on Isaiah 55 - 8 years ago
    V. 11 - Something the Lord finally got thru to me about this verse is: if we have His spirit living in us, that before we witness scripture to anyone, if we will pray about it FIRST - then He will bless it even more so. But - His spirit in us is needed for Him to hear prayer for His word to others - Jn. 9:31. God hears the prayer of one truly seeking Him in repentance, Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on John 7 - 8 years ago
    V. 39 - " ... the Holy Ghost was not yet given BECAUSE ... "; Jesus spirit, poured out on the 120 plus ( Acts 2:4) is what IMMEDIATELY open ALL their eyes to see Acts 2:38 - baptism in the NAME ..." (not titles of father, son, and holy ghost). Jesus VERY words were " ... in the NAME of ...". Repentance, baptism, receiving the H.G. - were the keys Jesus gave Peter; VERBAL (spoken) not metal keys.

    Acts 2:38

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Repent: change your minds, entertain other thoughts, and a different opinion of Jesus of Nazareth, than you have done; consider him, and believe in him, as the true Messiah and Saviour of the world; look upon him, n
  • Irene123 on Hebrews 3 - 8 years ago
vs. 13,15 - The word TODAY written in capitals refers to this 'day' (time) of the age of Grace - when salvation in Acts 2: 38 is still available.
  • Steven B on Matthew 28 - 8 years ago
When Jesus spoke the words in Matthew 28, it was with clear intention of the word "name" that he did so. The name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is singular. Notice he did not use the word "names". He gave Peter the keys to the kingdom, and on the Day of Pentecost, Peter and those in the Upper Room were filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 spells out the formula for believers to follow.

Lance - God Bless You for being on here - Acts 2: 38
  • Irene123 on Romans 4 - 8 years ago
Linda Wms. - You are right on; it can be taken further though - Jas. ch. 2; "But wilt thou know, O man, that faith without works is dead. After faith brings us to Acts 2:38 - Then the GOOD works begin, in our witnessing. Any 'works' before Acts 2:38 are dead because we haven't His spirit of truth in us. It is the spirit that quickens, that 'pricks' the heart of sin. Eph. 2:10; Heb. 10:24; Tit.3:14
  • Irene123 on Romans 2 - 8 years ago
    V. 29 - We, whether blood Jews or Gentiles (Greeks, the Gentiles were called Greeks for awhile); when we obey Acts 2:38 (" ... what must we do"?) - we are all Jews in our hearts in God's eyes. A 'gentile' in the N.T., as in the O.T. - is a soul that needs Jesus' salvation.
  • Irene123 on Exodus 20 - 8 years ago
Quote: The MAJORITY of 'christians' don't want to be thought of as fanatic; that's why they worship on Sunday. unquote. I worship on Sun., Mon., and Tues., but I'm not a MAJORITY Christian. We baptize in the NAME of Jesus Christ - Acts 2:38 - with the EVIDENCE of speaking in tongues - Acts 10:46, 19:6, 8:18 (and when Simon SAW ...) "saw" refers to something TANGIBLE; cont.
  • Irene123 on John 10 - 8 years ago
    V. 21 - A lot of people believe Jesus healed then and He heals today, but that does not mean they 'follow' Him. To follow Jesus you follow Acts 2:38, " ... seek ye first ... ", Matt. 6:33. The Kingdom of Heaven is found in Acts 2:38. That's where a Christian life begins.
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
John the baptist baptized Jesus because it was Jesus PLAN. WHATEVER Jesus said or did was for OUR example, to follow. John baptized unto repentance - without using the name of Jesus - as in Acts 2:38. John's baptism was to prepare hearts for being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. The name was not revealed for baptism until Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on Deuteronomy 16 - 8 years ago
Disciple - you are right about the Temple being burned; both the Jews and Romans had part in that - Wikipedia. Titus wanted to conserve it for the Roman's use, so He destroyed it, using man to this end. You can see his use of men all thru the O.T. in accomplishing His ends. Also God wanted to draw the Jews to HIM, to Acts 2:38. They would not leave their Temple worship for His way so - ...........
  • Wayne on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
Jesus Christ, himself, gave you those instructions and you still resist His godly instruction. Matt. 4:17- Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand, another quote from the Son of God.
  • 2 Timothy 2:15 on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
In Acts 2 the Kingdom is still being offered to the Jews see Lk23:24, Acts 2:14,22, 36. The question asked is what must WE do, not what must I do as in Acts 16:31. This was before the mysteries were revealed to Paul see Rom 16:25. They blasphemed the Holy Ghost in Acts 7 and God went to the Gentiles. We get Gentile baptism Matt 28:19, Acts 10:48 because Jews are not the nations Num 23:9.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
    V. 44 - "And ALL that were TOGETHER, and had ALL things common." They had ALL just recently been baptized in the name of Jesus and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. All things included Acts 2:28. And they went and witnessed to others of the same salvation - Acts 2:38, BECAUSE they ALL believed the same. There is not ONE instance in scripture where the words of Matt. 28:19 were used, not one.
  • Irene123 on John 17 - 8 years ago
    V. 11 - " ,,, keep through thine own NAME ..."; another prophesy Of Acts 2:38; there is POWER in the name of Jesus!! - to keep us in our walk with Him.
  • Irene123 on John 12 - 8 years ago
Vs. 1-2; are another prophesy of Acts 2:38; "... raised from the dead ..."; "... sat at table with Him." To sit at table with Jesus is to join together ( Heb. 10:25) and 'eat' of God's Word.
  • Irene123 on John 11 - 8 years ago
    V. 10 - is yet another prophesy of Acts 2:38 - the receiving of the 'light' (Holy Ghost, after being baptized using the NAME of Jesus); altho' it is common to receive His spirit before water baptism, but water baptism has to be in there.
  • Irene123 on John 10 - 8 years ago
    V. 9 - " ..... by me if any man enter in ..... "; by ME - Jesus; another prophesy of Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on Romans 12 - 8 years ago
The Lord Jesus has His Pastors in this age of Grace. And they preach the SAME message Peter preached in Acts 2:38 - and then you follow the way to Him in the epistles the bks. after Acts .
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
WATER baptism - Mk. 16:16; Matt. 3:5, v.16; Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3-5; Eph. 2:8-10; Col.2:12; 1Pet. 3:21. Ray321, I'll give you credit for this: you have indeed worked really hard to discredit the word of God; I give accolades to you.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
    Ray321 - Do you attend a church?
  • Irene123 on Malachi 3 - 8 years ago
    V. 16 - " ... and that th'ot upon His name." To 'think' upon His name is to DO everything in His name. Whenever we converse with others by letter, phone, our work, etc. to ask God in Jesus name to bless it. Even some sinners know this as is shown in Acts 19:13. And, of course, baptizing in water is 'doing' something, Acts 2:38.
  • Mari on Acts 2 - 8 years ago
We need the baptism of the holy spirit. Romans 8 says so much
  • Irene123 - 8 years ago
The Holy Ghost with power wasn't just for the 120 in the upper room, Acts 2:4, v.41.
