I knew the Bible stated that it was wrong to cut our mark yourself for the dead. Does this include in memory of a family member that has died, and or a regular tattoo such as an army, marines are navy tattoos or an American flag etc. Thank you!

    Hello Jesse

N-I-K-E means victory, LAOS as you said means people. So NIKOLAOS may either mean "victory of people" or "victory over people", but it is generally accepted that it most possibly means the former, it is a bit strange to mean victory over people, who wants such a name unless he is a tyrant or a dictator and since ancient Greece was sort of obsessed with democracy it is almost impossible I think to mean that.

I haven't seriously searched about Nicolaitans so I don't know if they got their name from their leader named Nikolaos, or they chose a name to fit their teachings.

Koine Greek is old greek but it is not Classical Greek which is extremely hard to understand, if one understands it, probably a slight idea of what is written and that not always. Koine Greek is a lot simpler, it is very close to modern greek in vocabularly, syntax and grammar. It may be harder to understand Koine Greek than English people understand the KJV archaic English, but it is OK, one probably doesn't know some words but can figure out what they mean from the text. Thats why I use a version of the Bible that the majority of the text remains as it was originally written and the rest is in modern greek. And still sometimes I use other modern greek Bibles if something is not clear enough.

Jesse I am not a scholar, so don't take my opinion as always 100% right, I may be wrong sometimes (few times I believe). But I usually say on this site not only how I percieve the greek in the Bible but what I am tought or read in greek Bibles or in commentaries in these Bibles. And a lot of information is available now on the internet. But anybody can also do such a search. There is a lot of information out there now.

The verse should read: Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for a (dead soul) nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD [your

    God].

Cuttings nor markings on your body!!!!!!!!! for a dead soul; in ceremony, as It's A practice in Canaanitish heathen worship, this would be in ceremonial, or ritualisticlic fashion.

Iy's a form of worship, Idolatry.

Do you worship tattoos ? did you tattoo yourself in a ceremonY? or a RiTuA;l? well then EYE say You'RE goot.

    Mike,

These are some great responses and I agree that Jesus is our peace. For me, peace is not a feeling but a person. And that person is Jesus Christ. I experience peace because I experience Christ in me. It's His peace. If I had to describe the peace I have in Christ, I would look at Romans 5:1-21, which talks about the privileges of justification.

Romans 5:1 starts out by saying, "Therefore being justified by faith." Even though the word "being" is in there which shows a condition or a state, literally in the Greek text it shows past tense. It is literally "After (having been) placed in a position of justification."

So now I've been justified. It's put in the past. It's a one-time thing, never to be taken back. So now after I have been justified by faith, there are seven things that are mine as an inheritance according to the next verses in Romans Chapter 5. The first thing listed is that I have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. The language indicates peace with Him because once I was at enmity with Him. I was once His enemy, but I now have peace with God.

That's is not a performance statement. It has nothing to do with my performance. It is a positional statement! My position with God is that I have peace with God. Now that does not mean that I always experience the peace of God. That's on an individual circumstance basis.

In Philippians 4:7, Paul says that once you surrender everything over to Christ, and you pray and give it all to Him, that the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. It is the peace "of" God.

So, I always have peace with God. I am never His enemy and He is never my enemy. That's positional! But to experience the peace of God comes when I trust Christ, like Abraham did by faith, I experience the peace of God.

    It's The Lords peace!

John 14:27. Peace I leave with you, MY PEACE I GIVE UNTO YOU: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

IT'S A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT THAT THE WORD CAN'T GIVE. WE ARE TO EXPECT TRIBULATION IN THE WORLD.

Galatians 5:22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Lemme give ya my slant on spritual warfare....Its gonna be with in us in our hearts and minds etc....This Woman in Rev 12 : 5 is the best example of spritual warfare....She is involved in war with satan...the dragon she is symbolic of humanity that is gonna go thru a spritual war....But Her Child which is the H.G. is gonna RULE ALL NATIONS....This is an internal war with in us....All of this is with in us simply b/c of the good seed HIS WORD that is sown in our hearts and minds....There is WAR in Jesus Heart....With Satan the Dragon.... Psalms 55 : 21...His words were smoother then Oil but they were like drawn Swords....His Words were smoother then butter but war was in his Heart....When Jesus will go forth to sow his precious seed in our hearts its gona result in a warfare with Satan....This Rev. 12 is about a war with Satan the Dragon the ( Tare ) that is tormenting her....The Tare and the wheat are within her and are in a warfare...in heavenly places impling in our spirts...We walk in the Flesh but we are gonna war in the spirit.

.....But the Manchild which is the H.G. that results from his good seed sown in our hearts is gonna rule all Nations....Simply b/c he is gonna be born in the hearts of everyman...As Jeremiah saw all men in travail and birth pains... Jeremiah 30:6..Who is my mother he asked them that hears my words and keeps them...His good seed is gona initiate a Birth of Christ in us...But all of this is simply b/c there is war in his heart....The Kingdoms of this world have become the Kingdoms of our lord and his Christ... the Baby the ( Man Child)...The babes and sucklings he mentions that are gonna be born in us an Israel of God...The Kingdom of God has to come via his seeds sown in our hearts....She brought forth a man child the H.G. a Kingdom Child....Unless you receive the Kingdom as lil Child a Spiritual child....Which is our new heart and new spirit...our new innerman....When ya read Rev. 12 remember its all with in us..A war that rages in us.

Many don't believe in a rapture of the church, they don't believe in the tribulation, they don't believe in the plagues or rise of the anti-christ and they most certainly don't believe in the 2nd coming of Christ. Why? I think you cover most of it but most believe all of these events happened hundreds if not over 1,000-years ago. Thank you for being bold enough to post this. There will come a time in which the elect may even fair to defend these very things.

We know these words of warning from the apostle Paul to Timothy which the Holy Spirit inspired these words as Paul was near death:

    2 Timothy: 3&5

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."

    Keep preaching brother. Amen!

I was going to give a detailed answer; yes I agree with Predestination and those saved who are determined. As to lukewarm people; that isn't the only reason for spiritual chastisement or worse; or the only reason someone could be a tare. It certainly could indicate a heart never regenerated. I choose to look at it in the context of addressing the churches. The question is how far someone can be in sin and still be saved. There are warnings of those who would deny Christ; definitely showing that a person will be rejected in front of the Holy angels if they deny His name. We still can think of those like Peter who may appear "on fire" for Him but it is more of their own strength they are relying on. Certainly; all self reliance has to be taken out of the picture as to our spiritual state. No matter how mature we are; of course we can leave our first love.

I did want to state that in the Millennium Age and starting with the Tribulation; we have a different but in no way less glorious function of the Holy Spirit. The same goes for Christ; there are clearly no atheists by the sixth seal. He will be visible and known yet somehow rejected by many descendants of those who physically survive into the Millennium. We will be ruling and reigning for a time over natural men. I believe that has something to do with the ceremonial aspect of a Temple as one has to be purified to be in God's presence in natural bodies and live.

It is true; sadly that many delude themselves thinking that they should be in the Tribulation or that they will repent once that occurs. To deliberately delay is foolishness. It is better to err on the side of caution; and we should warn anyone thinking they have lots of time to repent as today could be their last day on earth. God may allow some to be blinded now to awake later.

Once it is known; what has happened there is no hiding place for those with one foot in the world if they truly know Christ. That is my point.

The word clearly says we are to ask jesus for nothing any more but to ask the father. that's the next to last thing recorded in gids word that jesus spoke to us. why no sermons on this? i have been in church in various denominations for 64 years n not 9ne sermon have i heard on this clear direction by jesus. not one. same with songs. in the garden is a favorite if mine but i refuse to sing it like written because it violates what jesus told us. he is not on thus earth walking n talking with us. the last thing recorded that he said to us was that he had to get off this earth so that the holy ghost could come n he would lead us into all truth. no sermons on that either!. jesus said he had to leave earth so that the holy ghost could come n he would lead us into all truth. we dont need any special language to talk with him cause just like the father n the sin he knows them all. i have never heard any sermon saying we need to ask the holy ghost what the truth is on things. not one. if these are the last two directions we have from jesus n he was certainly adamant about them why are the not only just avoided but literaly thrown out by so called christianity??? he said he was coming back n getting a few but the corruotion would be wirld wide n 8verwhelming like isreal did more than once n was nearly destroyed. put into captivity n the kast days here would be the same. hes coming for a few n not the great masses that claim to serve. even that has dwindeled down. why no teachings on the last two directions, mandates, he gave us????? is it because the keaders in akl denominatiins have refused n are not doing as he told ys??? it appears the only answer us yes thats the reason n the masses follow them no matter what is i. the word.

    The dangers of Post Millennialism

There are theological disagreements on eschatology; along with some points that I may agree with; at least partially with certain things that have multiple fulfillments; for example. The concept that Christ is already ruling and reigning establishing His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven presently certainly has some truth in regard to the operation of the church in spreading the Gospel. There are certain offices that He has promised the "gates of hell shall not prevail against it." ( Matt. 16:18).

The greatest danger is the concept that Satan is already bound; in the bottomless pit; as Revelation 20 brings out. That is the assumption if we take the 1000 years figurately as we are clearly nearly 2000 years since the Resurrection and ascension of Christ. No wonder there are those who take the Dominionist ideas to heart; somehow thinking things will get better and better until the final rebellion which is thought to occur immediately prior to the Second Coming of Christ rather than the end of the 1000 years! There are some who have a less radical view; and accept in particular the persecutions necessary to continue to faithfully proclaim the Gospel. Satan is either bound or not; I separate the authority Christ has given to His people who are truly saved and Spirit filled who are not affected unless they allow or excuse sin in their lives giving his minions legal authority.

Taken in the wrong context; we see no need for deliverance; really wouldn't expect wars to be continuing in the earth; and don't understand how deception can take us over. How do we effectively fight an Ephesians 6 battle; or why would we if Satan is a non issue? There are other issues; such as the "Replacement Theology" and not taking many scriptures literally for future events; yet often past prophecies are taken this way by the reformers. How can we know we are under Satan's power if we don't believe it is possible? These are serious conerns.

Mike, one way to look at peace is the absent of conflict. Faith sets the mind at one with God so our thinking is no more in conflict with God's will. We simply believe God and take him at His Word which brings peace to our mind. Romans 5:1,2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 7 gives the example of the conflict: "For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I" and outcome of the conflict and the old nature: "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" But Roman 8:5,6 gives the solution to the conflict through walking in the Spirit, "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit, For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace". The Holy Spirit is received through faith.

You are right Chris. Christ is not a surname. Ancient people didn't have surnames by they used a characteristic of them to distinguish them from others who had the same name. Often that was their father's name or the city/place they came from or both or something else. So the right is Jesus the Christ/ Jesus the annointed one.

In the Hebrew and Greek Bibles Jesus is the same as Joshua. So in these Bibles it is Jesus (Hbr Yehoshua) son of Nun.

This creed was foisted upon people , the vast majority of whom had no say in the matter . Many of them were unable to read so didn't know any better and many were to scared to disagree . As far as I'm concerned it was adding to the Word of God . The Bible is all I go by , not men forcing something on the population after there were no witnesses to dispute their bullying ways . Trust God and His Word , never ever humans . He is all we need .

Hello Zack. The Name 'Jesus' is an anglicized Name from the Greek, Iesous (pr. ee-ay-soos). And this Name also has a Hebrew equivalent, as seen in the Old Testament (Joshua/Yehoshua). So Jesus/Iesous/Yehoshua all mean the same: "Yahweh is Savation".

And when the title, Christ', is added to Jesus' Name, the Greek is 'Christos' (the Anointed One, Messiah). Even though, Christos, can be a name, especially in Greece, the full Name of Jesus Christ (or, Jesus the Christ), can never be given to any person, as this remains solely reserved to the Holy One Who came down from God to Earth as a Man for Sacrifice for our sins.

If you need any more help about this Divine Name or about the Person of Jesus Christ, there are many here who can help you and answer all your questions.

Hello Mike, My first thought to your question is that Jesus is our Peace ( Ephesians 2:14)

And Jesus saying at the Last Supper, "Peace I leave with you , my peace I give to you." ( John 14:27)

That Jesus is the Prince of Peace. ( Isaiah 9:6)''

There are so many good Scripture on the peace that comes from God. You can google a concordance to check out for yourself.

But, to me, it all comes down to the love of God, who loved us first, and made the way for us to be at peace with God through the Son, Jesus Christ.
