From reading those notes on 1 Corinthians 7:30, I agree that should be the general rule of a Christian's view of himself, his family, possessions & of the world & the evil that abounds in it.

However, I always focus on the context & situation that the writer was in or writing about. It seems clear from verse 26, "I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress...", that Paul knew what was happening around him & what was happening to believers under Roman rule. We're not told specifically what the "present distress" was; it may have been an increasing antagonism against Christians with persecutions (under Nero AD 54-68 persecutions began & 1 Corinthians was believed to be written during this time).

So, it might have been at a time when believers were experiencing the first buds of suffering & hardship, & Paul then gave this word to them concerning marriage at this time & the usual life's situations that came before them (vv 30, 31). All these things were a normal part of life, but when suffering for your faith, the emphasis should rather be on finding strength to withstand any onslaught, by spending much time together in the Word, in prayer, & in encouragement & support of one another. The Church in those days was a much more cohesive body, depending on each other heavily in both practical & spiritual ways, unlike today, when we meet together infrequently & are very much independent & self-sufficient. There may be a time coming for us, when the longing & cleaving to each other as a Church, becomes much more necessary for our spiritual well-being & strength to withstand the ever increasing forces of evil.

Genesis 17:9-13, The rite was a sign of the covenant between God and the children of Abraham. In Romans 3 Paul is stating that while there was an advantage of God revealing himself through the children of Israel, it was not a guarantee of their being right with him in their hearts and truely having faith. Romans 4:8-14 is where Paul reminds us that Abraham was promised blessing and God continues to be faithful to that promise, because his true heirs live by faith also, not in the letter of laws and rites.

The "heavens" & the "firmament" in Psalm 19:1 speaks about the universe & sky. The Psalmist declares that both the sky & universe with all that we can see in them are indeed a mighty spectacle & declaration of God's Handiwork & Glorious Power.

In connection with this Psalm, Abraham Lincoln once said, "I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how a man could look up into the heavens and say there is no God." And of course, he was speaking of the starry universe working together in perfect unison.

"Who" in verse 3 is revealed in verses 4,5 and 6 as he and him, not you or I. The King receives

all the blessing and righteousness for his realm. The instruction to the generation/seekers is to be watchful/heads up as managers of the gates and doors of our lives. That is from the outer most gate to the innermost door. When we open the barriers between us he will enter and we will witness glory as never seen before or since.

After 46 years of finding a grace to raise my hands in thankful worship when a gratefulness graces me to do so. Ive been so encouraged of late with Ps 141:2. And now with this bold testimony of Elijahs again.Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. My assembly does not lean readilly to this but an increase over the years, especially among the more earnest 30 to 40 aged women. We are a 1 Cor 11:1 to 16 Apostolic people. 1940s to the 80s Six of the Seven Presbyterian Wilson brothers were filled with the Holy *GHOST* with Jude 20 KJV manifestation, and started Six Churches throughout New Zealand. The reticent Seveth son, Fred Wilson was moved to plant The Church of Christ NZ Mt Roskill, which has satelite branches as does their planting in Osaka a Sister fellowship. A strong KJV base they were until Fred Wilson, the Apostles passing, later allowed the NKJV to usurp the KJV veracity, and personally I say sadly, as the fire has shown a weakening since. Verses messed with, not just spoil memory treasures but :weaken > John 1:12 to :confuse >meek with gentle to a : great travesty> Jeremiah 23 33 to 40 where the confusing wordoracle replacing the word burden. Removing the severe warning to any who even hint at the *ETERNAL ALMIGHTY* being able to be burdened in any way, Isaiah 40:17. Especially when such grace offered to the weakest Saint who would receive it 2 Cor 9:8. And the word may is slipping into the Benediction decree. And to put prayer into an always bowed head stance, is robbing us all of the great need to be instant in prayer, even at least one hand authoritatively raised at certain times. Form is replacing intimacy and power, which can only lead to infirmity at length, as we all are so faithfully chastened betimes. Revelation 3:19, *G* B Uall, Ps 138:8 Proverbs 8:30,31KJV. Philippians 1:6 will perform for the faithful, but those who neglect shall be counted among the lukewarm Prov 29:1.

Can you explain these Clouds and what are the "clouds of witnesses" - Jesus taken up in a cloud Also , what is meant by God all in all as in Ephesians 1:23 - thanks and blessings to all

Thank you for your comment but the Bible tells me in all thy getting, get understanding. I was talking nothing about Moses. I know the story I was simply verifying the cloud which was correct but for the rest you need to speak to God for understanding. Thank you. I believe that Jesus was speaking of the Laws that the Jews understood were given them by God in totality, to be observed, i.e. the Torah (the first five books of the OT). And of course, "the prophets", were the prophetical Books. The other Books are termed as "the Writings". In those Books, the moral Law, the ceremonial Law, the ordinances, the various festivals/feasts/rites/observance of days, etc., & those prophecies that concerned His Coming, were all fulfilled in the Person of Jesus, God's Son.

Did those Laws & Ordinances lose their potency or currency? Matthew 5:18: "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Some think that Jesus is stating that "heaven & earth" must first pass away before the smallest requirement of the Law be removed forever. However, I believe that Jesus was showing that every aspect of the Law would be fulfilled & then the "heaven & earth" would dissolve: a slight difference. And that means, that Jesus in Himself fulfilled every aspect of the Law, so that by believing in Him, & through the virtue of His Death & Resurrection, the Jew would never be judged & condemned by the Law. They (and us), would be judged by our acceptance of the Gospel of Christ & by a renewed Spirit-filled Life to obey all of God's requirements for us. And these requirements far exceed in moral & spiritual value, than was revealed to Israel in the old Law.

The Prophets spoke of Jesus' Coming, but still there are many prophecies yet to be fulfilled (those for the end times). After these complete, then the dissolution of the "heaven & earth" will be the next on the Divine Agenda.

Thank you for your comments - if I might take you up on a couple of things you mentioned there:

I suppose we would disagree on this aspect as I see that the prophet & the preacher are very different, unless of course, the preacher is gifted in receiving the prophetic Word. A prophet or prophetess would receive God's Word as a particular revelation to bring to the people. It must include more than a rehearsal of what is already known, but a direct Word from God for the future (whether for good or ill). If it doesn't include "the future", then it's not a prophetical utterance. After the Word of God was completed (as we have it now), has there been any prophecy from anyone (except the false prophets, of course), that could add to the Bible? Bearing in mind Revelation 22:18,19?

"His Word is enough to confirm his calling on women to preach." Well, I have yet to find a Scriptural authority for this to happen. Rather, when we come to worship, we have the attendance of Heaven as well. If even the angels observe the order & dignity in our services ( 1 Corinthians 11:10), then what must Heaven observe if there is a woman usurping the Divine Order, & see a woman preaching the Word to a mixed congregation. Can a sister share her testimony, can she minister to other sisters & children or can she assist in whatever way the Lord has gifted her? Of course, she can - she fulfils her position in the Church receiving the appreciation & gratitude of the Church. Blessings.

Moses wasn't in Europe he was in the deserts of the Middle East long before Europe.

The Ten Commandments God's laws set down to Moses.

"Faith alone does not secure our salvation WE must have works of the spirit".

Ephesians 2:8,9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

I believe that it is by God's Grace through faith alone in Christ's finished Work that brings us salvation & nothing else. But works that FOLLOW faith, is the proof of the reality of that faith. Once works, or anything else, is added to God's Grace through faith, then it is no longer of Grace, but of works, "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." Romans 11:6.

If it was only my human faith, without God's Grace that undergirded & provoked me towards salvation, I would be in a pitiful state accounting that my generated faith alone was sufficient. Of ourselves, faith cannot succeed - we need the whole: God's Grace & Faith without any hint of human contribution towards it. But it may be that that was the intent of your statement. Blessings.

Thanks for your reply. As Mild Bill stated, your church tradition does not transcend The Holy Bible. Yes, in your church's opinion, I'm a heretic because I believe, as did Martin Luther, in Sola Scriptura. No church gets to interpret The Scriptures for everyone. The Holy Spirit guides us into The Truth.

Church traditions over the centuries have resulted in a number of unbiblical practices such as

prayer to saints and/or Mary,

the immaculate conception,

transubstantiation,

infant baptism,

indulgences, and

papal authority,

none of which can be justified from The Holy Bible.

Just so you're aware, as a Baptist, I don't believe that baptism saved or will save me, although I was baptized at age 12. By being baptized, I confessed that I had placed my trust in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, The Son of God to be my Savior from sin and death.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Rom 10:9-10

I'm glad that we can discuss these differences in our beliefs and evaluate the reasons why we believe what we believe. I try very hard, to act consistent with The Bible. Sometimes I fail.

I looked into this for you. The word "corn" in Deuteronomy 7:13 is the Hebrew word transliterated "dagan". The BDB definition is "wheat, cereal, grain, corn". With a Strongs number of H1715 "properly grain".

Looking at the abilities of the two witnesses They mirror Moses and Elijah. So many say Enoch and Elijah. Because they will be killed and neither saw natural death. All is pure speculation. But it has been amazing to me over my 25 years of study. No one has considered they could possibly be simply 2 men living on the earth at this time. That God will use. I understand that this Book in particular has much symbolism and representation. But the Bible as a whole is so simple a child can understand it. It is man that makes it so complex. It must be taken as much as possible as literal as possible. God never meant for it to be impossible to grasp. It takes some time with God and nobody will never know the deeper mysteries of this Bible. But the main message is simple . One way for sure you can identify the 2 Witnesses. The Hebrew word here translated as corn, is done so 37 times in the KJV.

That's what the word meant in 1611.

I wouldn't loose any sleep over that.

Please read 1Cor 7:29, 30 and follow the annotation on the difficult verse 30.

1Cor 7:30. And they that weep, as though they wept not: restraining and moderating their grief by the hope of the life to come. As a matter of fact, it is very difficult for human nature to ignore pain or any adverse circumstance as if nothing happened to him when persecuted, maligned, slandered, when near earthly friends are taken away and etc. Religion will keep us from immoderate grief, and sustain the soul even when in distress nature forces us to shed the tear of mourning.

As though they rejoiced not: Not rejoicing with excessive or immoderate joy; not with riot or unholy mirth; not satisfied with these things, though they may rejoice in them; Not forgetting that they must soon be left; but keeping the mind in a calm, serious, settled, thoughtful state, in view of the fact that all these things must soon come to an end. Oh, how would this thought silence the voice of unseemly mirth!

As though they possessed not: It is right to buy and to obtain property; but it should be held with the conviction that it is by an uncertain tenure, and must soon be left.

The general idea in all these expressions is, that in whatever situation Christians are, they should be dead to the world, and not improperly affected by passing events.

Thank you, for your comment also, but there are many churches who use the King James version of the Bible that very much so believe Jesus Christ is alive. The word of God applies to all who will believe and follow him. My personal testimony Jesus led me to Matthew 4:19 prior to getting the baptism of his Holy Spirit and then led me back to the scripture again after filling me with His Spirit to confirm what he called me to do. Again, we as the church can take God's word out of context and misconstrue to our own meaning. If we are honest with ourselves, we have all done it.

The definition of preaching is the delivery of a sermon or religious address to an assembled group of people, typically in church. A prophet is a person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God and a prophetess is a female prophet. Prophetess Deborah judged the children of Israel in the same manner as the men. A prophet(ess) and preacher have the same required duties.

I am a member of a church that is 90-years established. God called a woman to establish and start this church. The pastor I am under is the first male to pastor our church. Prior to him three females pastored this church and he grew up under their leadership and teach the same Gospel message from the same version Bible (King James) as they taught and preached from. I do believe in the order of God and this is why I believe God has called women to preach and pastor. His Word is enough to confirm his calling on women to preach.

If truth be told, once a man, woman, and or child repent of sins, be baptized in the Name of Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and be filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost ( Acts 2:1-4; 36-41) they become preachers (spiritual) when they testify of their new birth experience, which proclaims the salvation plan of the Lord.

Some brethren believe in women preachers (or pastors) and some don't; nonetheless, our hearts focus needs to be on spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and winning souls into His kingdom and being rapture ready awaiting Jesus' return for His Church.
