When people cite non-Bible books (man's opinion) to 'prove' a point, it usually has little credibility. Just turn on the TV or read a newspaper and most of what is written is unsubstantiated opinion or pure falsehoods. Society seems more corrupt and more willing to lie and deceive than any other time in my lifetime. The lies and propaganda is so blatant, but somehow they have been successful in silencing and cancelling any voices that tell the truth. It's similar to how many communist dictatorship countries got their start.

So, when I hear someone adamantly saying the US was not a Christian nation then says a few authors of history books said so, I don't believe it. I instead believe the evidence of historical documents quoting the Bible, of speeches quoting scripture, of monuments honoring God and scripture, of our dollar bill which still says in God we trust, of our pledge of allegiance which has God in it. Yes, some were Masons too, but most were Christians who desperately wanted freedom. Now, we have pro-communist people trying to destroy the country and limit your freedom that so many fought and died for. So, yes, this is a Christian nation, is still, but has fallen greatly. Immorality and sin will be it's demise, however, just like how Rome or many other powerful entities fell. No anti-conservative or anti-Christian propaganda will change my mind on what the truth is. If someone is confused on what the truth is they should seek God and pray.

On the 4th day God made animals, all kinds of animals but they were not created in the image of God. God is holy. Animals are not holy.

On the 6th day God made humans and they are created in the image of God---holy and good. When Adam and Eve sinned God dressed them in skins. Gen 3:21 "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD GOD make coats of skins, and clothed them." In my dictionary skins is a general term for the outer covering of the animal body. Now they are like the animals -not good not holy. After they sinned God saw them as animals. In Romans those given to unnatural sex changed the glory (the goodness) of God into images like birds, four-footed animals, beasts, creeping thing etc. They changed the goodness (his Glory) into what is not like God---animals, etc. They had departed from goodness. They no longer were the image of God. Remember the tree they ate from, the tree of good and evil. They committed evil. That is where evil began. Evil people are not the image of God.

Jesus said this: written in Red: "But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication [porneia], causeth her to commit adultery [moichao]: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery [moichao]" Matthew 5:32. If a spouse is married to a spouse who commits unnatural sex the spouse who does not believe in unnatural sex has grounds to divorce the one who does. Isn't this proof we are waiting for the Jesus who will say this?

Here is a differentiation that I think is important to keep in mind.

There is ONE interpretation of Joshua 2:13-20. Any passage has ONE INTERPRETATION not many. It is not the same as this typology or picture of Jesus rising on the third day. The interpretation would be what a reader would have understood in 1300 BC or 20 AD. The correct interpretation is the message that the writer meant to convey not the interpretation you want to give it. There may be an additional message in a typology but typology is not allegory, which is reading into the text what is not there as the interpretation. For instance, studying Leviticus may be difficult apart from typology, but the typology does not change the meaning of what the Ark of the Covenant was to an OT believer.

Understanding these scriptures takes other scriptures and the HOLY SPIRIT causing you to understand.

This prophecy is three fold, Christ promises the (called out) saints of the old testament and the (called out) saints of the new testament along with (HIS) dead body would RISE TOGETHER.

Hebrews 11:16 But now they (saints of old) desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called there God: for he hath prepared them a (HOLY) CITY. The one in Matthew 27:53

Hebrews 11:39-40 And these all (saints of old), having obtained a good report through faith, RECEIVED NO THE PROMISE (eternal life, it would be given to them at Christ resurrection).

(40) God having provided some better thing for us (the called out of the new testament will never see death, we were resurrected with Christ), that they (saints of old) without us (new saints) should not be made perfect (image of Christ, who only hath immortality, [eternal life] 1 Timothy 6:16).

Luke 20:36 Neither can they (the called out) die any more (they [WE ARE SIN] died with Christ on the cross, were buried and arose with him): for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, BEING THE CHILDREN OF THE RESURRECTION.

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 13:8-10. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

I just read your response at this late date. I reject your thought that America is or ever was a Christian nation. I do accept the fact that at it's inception, it was a nation "of" professing Christians primarily dominating the society, and as such, that faith should be reflected in the character of it's elected leaders and issues of governance.

Therein lies the American delemma today.



Those who blame the government have very little understanding of how it is supposed to work. As recently retired I have expanded my reading time and quite a few books have handled American history, politics and western cultural development. This site is not the place to go into the many interesting things I've learned, but I do wish to leave you with one smattering of facts. At the time of the Civil War the majority of American churches taught a covenant theology and truely believed that victory of the church in world affairs would usher in the return of Christ. Also, the "Origins of Species by Means of Natural Selection", by Charles Darwin was hailed as science advancing knowledge and lent support to the position of racial descrimination that has so inflamed our society to this very day. Ironically Lincoln's party was no less discriminatory than the southerners and carried that fault in their political stance well into the 1920's. Only after the Civil War did the Federal government begin to swell into the massive financial and intrusive monster it is today.

Given a chance to sit down and discuss these and more matters, I can imagine more agreement between us.

One more pre-America tidbit, look up the 1746 destruction of the French fleet and the connection to Boston.

When Moses went before The Lord, his face shined. So he put a veil over his face when he talked with the people.

13-14 Paul says contrary to what Moses had to do, Paul didn't need to do that. Referring to the unbelieving Jews of old up to that day, who had hard unregenerate hearts THAT WERE COVERED LIKE A VEIL. BUT whenever someone turns to God in faith, the VEIL IS LIFTED.

The unbeliever has a veil over his eyes of understanding. But whenever someone turns to God, the veil is removed.

Today we can read our bibles and not see the true meaning till God is ready to reveal his word.Thats why we need to constantly review and reread over and over till his true meaning is known by us

We cannot talk of one sin as less bad than another sin. Sin is sin and all sins are bad. God can forgive us even if we sin against Jesus. But God will not forgive the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. The sin against the Holy Spirit is the attitude of a person who chooses on purpose not to believe God. That person has chosen strongly to oppose God's work by his Holy Spirit. It is such a strong decision that the person will not ever change his mind. These Pharisees saw the good deeds that Jesus did. They said that the power to do these deeds came from Satan. They called evil good and good evil. They could see the truth but they decided to oppose it because they are demons. This attitude puts such persons in a state in which they cannot repent. As they cannot repent, God cannot forgive them. And they cannot believe in the Lord Jesus for salvation. KJV Matthew 12:32

Isa. 1:9, "Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and ye should have been like unto Gomorrah."

This remnant are the 144,000 virgins mentioned in Revelations.

Look at it this way.

On a human level male and females who have not experienced intercourse are said to be virgins.

All those who have not experienced unnatural sex, the sex of Sodom and Gomorrah are virgins in their relationship with God.

As with so many today there is a great attachment to feelings, however, God's love goes well beyond emotion and is a commitment to you. Your commitment to him is a return to him of some of that love. You understand our love for him pales in comparison to his love for us, nevertheless, returning love pleases him in a way that is unique to each person that is in that relationship with him.

I quit smoking years before becoming saved, and was truely shocked at my first attempt when I had the physical cravings filling my thoughts constantly. I was committed to quitting and indeed over time the cravings were much more manageable, till some time later, that habit died. As a newborn Christian you have need to feed that new person and there is nothing better than God's word. Spend time with God in prayer/discussion and your relationship will grow. A plan for your life is quite simple, feed the new person you've become in Christ and starve the old person of things that draw you away from God. I have learned and you will also, that it is indeed true that " Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 1Corinthians 2:9, an abundant life, and "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." Psalms 16:11. I hope/expect your desire to get closer to God will extend/last unto evermore, as will happen with all believers.

Jesus Christ is deity. That didn't originate with the RCC. The Word of God tells us that.

You could also cite the many Scriptures that speak of those who fell down & worshipped Jesus. And this was not people doing obeisance to a 'mighty Prophet of God', but in recognition that this Holy One came from God & to be worshipped as they would God.

A few Scriptures: Matthew 2:10,11 (the magi from the East before the Babe). Matthew 8:2 (by a Leper). Matthew 9:18. Matthew 14:33. John 9:36-38. Acts 10:25,26 (an account where Peter refused the worship of Cornelius).

I always pray to the Father, but I find no reason why I can't pray to the Lord Jesus & glorify & worship Him also.

This passage is an allusion, by The Holy Spirit, to the sorrow of the cross, three days in the grave and the hope of the resurrection: "ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES"

This event occurs just prior to the people of Israel crossing the Jordan and entering The Promised Land.

Are you hearing this from those who are quoting 1 Peter 3:3? If so, I don't believe that this is a correct interpretation of Scripture. Peter was speaking about those women (wives) who put much emphasis on the way their cut & wore their hair, wearing of jewellery, or desiring the finest of clothing. Rather, he says, that their holy, godly lives, coupled with a meek & quiet spirit, will speak in greater volume of the 'real woman', than an outward display of themselves (& that in some cases, are meant to be a distraction from what may be missing inwardly).

So please continue to wear your wedding ring, showing to all, the band of gold that speaks of the great love & commitment you have only to each other, in the Lord, till death separates you. But if their accusations against you get too much, leave them & find a Fellowship where the Word of God is preached & practised. I know of some in the Brethren who remove all their jewellery & put on that special pious appearance for their Assembly meetings, but revert back to their former selves once outside the doors.

In 1 Corinthians 7:13-15, we read of a marriage that has a Christian spouse & a non-Christian spouse. If they're happy to remain together (in spite of their differences & associated problems), then they should keep the sanctity of the marriage by remaining together. However (in v 15), if the non-Christian spouse really wants to separate or divorce, he/she shouldn't be stopped from doing so & they should separate.

BUT, for many Christians they now see that a licence is given here for a re-marriage to take place, because the verse says, "A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases". This is not the case. Paul means that a Christian should not be in 'bondage' (or, being caged or chained up in a constant state of suffering, abuse or hatred) because of being compelled to hold the marriage together; one party should be free to go.

Nevertheless, the other Scripture remains in force, "And I (Jesus) say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery." ( Matthew 19:9). So, if there's a separation/divorce, the believing spouse has to remain unmarried or else they would be committing adultery. The reference to "fornication", given by the Lord, was when it was found out by a spouse, during the betrothal or after a marriage had taken place, that there was 'uncleanness' in the other: i.e. where one was unfaithful at that time. In those days, the betrothal period was part of the marriage bond - not like today, when a couple could opt to cancel the engagement for any reason.

In the Apocryphal Book, Ecclesiasticus, there are 51 chapters. In the Book of Ecclesiastes (in the Canon of Scripture) there are only 12 chapters. Are you referring to this Book, or maybe the chapter 19 you seek is in the Apocryphal Book?

The Lord is so amazing. Tonight I just opened my Bible and read as sometimes I do just to let the Holy Spirit guide me. I was reading in 1 Samuel about the life of David. I really can't say it has any correlation to Jesus rising on the third day but as soon as I read it I thought of you and how it connects. In "his spirit came again to him" and "three days and three nights". 1 Samuel 30:12

Just another option (aside from Dr. Katz) for you to consider as to the meaning of those verses 10 & 13. Verse 10 clearly shows that Haman's ten sons were killed but Esther made a special request for them & their father Haman, to be hanged (vv 14 & 25).

Sometimes, amongst the heathen, those criminals who were hanged, had their corpses left on the tree, sometimes for a short spell or until they were consumed. Esther may have resorted to a similar act, whereby the full impact of the wickedness of Haman & his sons (who would have been complicit to their father's crime), become an ongoing witness to all people, of their wickedness & God's deliverance of the Jews. So the Feast of Purim, became an everlasting memorial for the Jews.
