"Do not I (the Psalmist) hate them, O LORD, them that hate THEE (The LORD)" ( Ps. 139:21) =

The Psalmist presented this question rhetorically. Here, both occurrences of "hate" translate from the same Hebrew verb root (transliterated "sane"; pronounced "saw-NAY").

Both "hatreds" are personal, hating GOD's enemies' personally and their very existence. The wicked intensely hate the PERSON of The LORD. Responsively, the Psalmist hates the person who hates The LORD. The grammatical verb patterns affect the interpretations.

The hate of the Psalmist is a Qal stem verb, meaning the action is a simple fact without further description of degree. The same Psalmist expressed the same sentiment in another Psalm ( Ps. 31:6):

"I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in The LORD."

The hate of those that hate The LORD is a Piel stem verb, meaning they hate more intensely and intentionally. The wicked hate aggressively and act out their emotional hatred with violence when they "rise up" (v.21) against The LORD.

In The New Testament, CHRIST commanded Christians to respond to hatred with love, blessings, good deeds, and prayer ( Mt. 5:44; Lu. 6:28). Yet, Christian love and hate do not mutually exclude one another. A true, mature, spiritual Christian is equipped to love and hate the wicked simultaneously and equally.

Due to the enemies' thorough wickedness (v.19), and of their expressed ill-use of The LORD's PERSON and of HIS NAME (v.20), and of their hatred toward HIM, obviously the next expectation is their hostile rebellion and forceful attack against HIM ("rise up against"; v.21).

The qualifying term "perfect" in the expression "perfect hatred" (v.22) is synonymous with "complete" and "absolute". They were the Psalmist's "enemies" because they hate The LORD (v.21).

Hello Jacquelyn . Here r a couple of scripture references that may or may not help u : Matt Ch 19 V 1-12 . The desire between a man and a woman is totally natural . I have seen people drive them selves crazy over this problem of marriage , divorce and re marriage . I have seen people drive them selves crazy because they have tried to fight against their own natural desires . I don't think that I , as a happily married man , should ever tell anyone , Christian or not , that they can't get married and b happy as I am . It's not my place to tell another human : no , u have to stay single for the rest of your life . I have lived alone , I didnt mind it but I'm a much happier person now I'm married . To condemn another person to a life of loneliness , deny them the ability to give and receive love , that's not my place . I have total admiration for those who do deny themselves marriage , I'm not so strong . And I'm confident that I don't have to b a single celibate person to b a Christian .

I would drop to my knees and cry like there was no tomorrow.

I would keep my face buried in the floor of the earth with such humiliation of the world and what we are and what they did to him. I am crying now. I would not be able to look up at The Face Of The Lamb As He was,(slain). Him Knowing and sacrificing Himself for my sins yesterday and that day, I out of such humility, would not feel worthy to look upon Him. I so Love LJesus , My Lord, My God, My King, My only salvation.

Looking at Jesus and knowing what pure evil that He took on from the beginning to the end of the world. Really think about that.

Just not being crucified, they, His own People denied Him and acted and watched and spit and called him vile, filthy names, and beat and tortured Him so viscously, beyond recognition, like no other man in the world. He took all that and Jesus could have bailed out. And His Father in Heaven had to watch and could have ended the vile abuse at any time but did not. "For God So Loved The World". Him ransomed 4 us.

Nether Jesus or His Heavenly Father bailed on the world. They should of.

The world is more vile than ever.

I Have committed almost every sin in the Scriptures. But one I have not. I have not Denied My Father in Heaven nor Jesus, The Selfless Lamb.

This kills my heart! For my sins and the sins committed against then and to Him today. I am not worthy. The world is not worthy.

But I want to believe that Jesus would lift my chin and just say with out words, that I am His and He gets Me as He created me. He Knows i love Him. I am seeking His Heart today.

But each day He sees and knows that i seek His Heart like a little child. " I know your heart, I created it. When you cried out, why did I give you that big heart and big shoulders and why you suffered from so

Many and so much , from a little one on,

"Because, you gave those gifts to all." I will see you soon and Keep seeking my Heart. I still Love You." I pray He says.

Hi Jim, just noticed your comment about denying Jesus's divinity. People try to do that from time to time, but in order to do so requires cherry picking one verse, twisting it, then ignoring the mountain of other verses in the Bible. In this case you're conflating God's son with the phrase 'sons of God' which was used in a general sense. The same unsound logic can be applied to twist anything else into what you want it to mean. It's pretty hard to deny verses like John 1:1 that clearly say Jesus is God though. It takes mental gymnastics to escape the truth of such verses. Jesus in Isaiah 7:14 is called Immanuel which literally means "God with us" but its up to each person whether they want to accept Jesus or deny Him. 1 John 2:22-24

Do you consider yourself a Christian? To be a Christian means you follow Jesus Christ and if you don't believe Jesus is Lord then that is similar to what nonbelievers think. Some even admit who Jesus is, but still stubbornly won't accept Him. It's a spiritual battle. Matthew 7:21

John 14:6 - No one comes to the Father (also God) but through Jesus.

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

John 10:30 "I and my Father are one."

John 8:19 "if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also."

Philippians 2:5 - 2:8 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"

2 Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

John 1:3 - All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

    John 20:28

Pretty hard to disregard all these Biblical truths about Jesus. He became flesh and died for you. Have you tried praying and asking who Jesus is and to reveal that to you?
  • Giannis - In Reply on Philippians 4 - 3 years ago
The Greek word "PANTOTE" that is translated in English as alway/always here has the meaning "at any time, at all circumstances".

Of course you don't feel happy when you are ill or hurt or when you loose a person you love.It is impossible to rejoice 24 hours a day, 30 days a month, 12 months a year and so on. The verse doesn't have this meaning As i see it it has the meaning to always trust God snd have faith in Him that no matter what problems come into your life He will never let you down. And even if He decides for His own good reasons to not move away a problem you must still trust Him because His purpose is to get us into His kingdom in Heavens. His grace is on us and sustains us when we face difficult situations.

And His Spirit gives us joy. The fruit of the Spirit is love, JOY, peace... Galatians 5:22. So it is a necessity for God's childrey to ask for and get baptised in the Spirit of God. And get filled with the Holly Spirit when praying so to have God's power available when needed.

That is true what you quoted but it does not change the fact that both are called the Son of God. If they are both the Son of God they both had the same Father. If Jesus is God then Adam is also God. The difference is Adam failed.

If Adam isn't God then neither is Jesus.

Jesus had a human mother Adam didn't.

Also notice in your quotation from Corinthians they are both called man.

Was having a conversation with a Christian friend of mine, who was so appalled by what was happening in our world. I had to remind my friend, that we "desire a better country, that is, an heavenly".

If the people of this world want to destroy this beautiful planet earth with their sin, and forget God!?

    Well, I'll let them.

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE

    I will serve the LORD!

Sometimes I think Christians get to involved in the things of this world, and forget what Jesus said "I am NOT of the world" John 17:16-26

  • ELB - In Reply on Malachi 3 - 3 years ago
Rebecca, our pastors take Malachi 3:8 out of context.

If you read the previous chapters you will see they were tithing, but they were bringing the sick and lame and spoiled grains unto the priest as their tithe. The priest had no land inheritance, therefore the tenth of the harvest, the VERY BEST OF THE HARVEST, was theirs.

Only products of the land were tithed, salaries and works of man's hands were not tithed.

All of this was done as a shadow of the TRUE.

Christ is calling out the tithe or first fruits of the harvest now, in this age.

Malachi 3:3 And he (Christ) shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he (Christ) shall purify the sons of Levi (the priest), and purge them as gold and silver, that they (the priest) may make offer into the Lord an offering of righteousness.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood .....

1 Corinthians 15:23 But every man in his (God's) own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterwards they that are Christ's at his coming (CHRIST IN YOU).

Romans 8:23 ....which have the firstfruits of the Spirit ....

Revelation 14:4 ....being the firstfruits unto God an to the Lamb.

Thank you, Gigi, for sharing all you did; it gives me more understanding as I pray

for you and your family! I can see you are a woman of faith! :)

It seems like work, almost any work, out in the world is so stressful! My sister-in-law was saying

not long ago that she remembered when she loved going to work, saying how much she looked forward

to the camaraderie, the fun they had together in between tackling their jobs! All of a sudden - there

was strife, competition, more pressure from the 'higher ups'...everything went downhill!

It's funny that my daughter too, has a master's in education, but it was too stressful for her! She now

works at home for an online store! It has worked out well for her that she can work remotely!

In any case, the prayers continue Gigi! I there is ever an update to your prayer needs, feel free to share! :)

    Holy hugs in Jesus! :)

Wise words from the Lord, Gigi!

I was just talking to my sister on this topic; I have been blessed to see many

places in this world; there is one sad observation that I've made, and that is that

there are those who say Christians should not work for money - who are VERY happy to take YOUR

    money that YOU work for!!

You addressed this situation so well and graciously, I need not expound. I just wanted to

thank you for sharing wisdom that I know came from above!

    Blessings, dear sister!

Let me help you out with these two parts brother (by the way, I agree mostly with the above stated because you encourage all to live Holy as Christ ought for us to be):

"Christians cannot work for money( Matthew 6:24

Let's take a look at the first statement. Christians cannot work for money. All Christians (although I'll admit - I don't always like doing so) must work/labor. The Apostle Paul worked as a tent maker during his early years preaching. Genesis 3:19 is one curse brought upon man (for the sin man brought into the world) that all men must bare today:

"In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return." Genesis 3:19

"Christians do Not pay taxes (Render to Caesar what is his and to God what belongs to Him, what belongs to God?)"

Christ looked at the denarian and realized this is a law of exchange of the world. God know we live in the world but we serve God in His Kingdom. God asked to render unto Caesar (taxes) what belongs to Caesar that all those who live in the world must give to the earthbound kingdom. Then Christ says what is rendered unto him which is to the Eternal Kingdom of God.

Either one of these may seem desirable but this home is temporary brother. Once we're rejoined with the Lord -- we'll only labor unto him and only render unto Christ Jesus. What a day that will be! I'll see you there and God bless you!

Only God determines your time of death. If you kill yourself you have committed a sin for which you cannot be forgiven because you are dead. I have attempted suicide 33 times in my life and every time I really didn't want to die I just wanted the pain to go away. The enemy is saying your life is not worth fighting for and that is wrong. Jesus saved me and I have not had a suicide attempt in 5 years. I may not be spot on with this, but suicide is described in the Bible when Judas Iscariot hung himself after betraying Jesus. Trust in Jesus and you won't need to worry about suicide anymore, because He will take that desire away from you. Hope this helps. God bless.

about Malachi 3:10, why is it used so readily by pastors for tithing? When in

    2 Corinthians 9:7

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.", And in

1Peter 5:2-3 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.

No I do not know who is rambling on about sin agianst the holy spirit, but the sin of blasphemy agianst the Holy ghost is when you deny God's spirit to work in you. You hear truth and reject it, or you start saying that the work of the Holy spirit is the work of demons. Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil. The sanhedran when they stoned stephen stopped their ears and ran at stephen in anger because the holy spirit pricked their hearts that what he was saying was truth.

Many times scribes and pharicees picked up stones to kill Jesus because the words he spoke brought conviction through the spirit. They accused him of casting out demons by belzebub. That is classic biblical blasphemy

As saints of the LORD, we should always be in prayer for GOD's intercession and power in our lives. Our nation has taken a page from the Jewish playbook. It has ceased to learn of the LORD's way and taken the way of the flesh and world.

Our ways no longer resembled the ways of GOD, nor are we raising up GOD fearing, and GOD loving men and women into the fray. V10-14 Then when we are taken into captivity we cry unto the LORD that HE is unfaithful, deaf towards our cries, and unloving in our predicament.

We allowed the professors of religion from other lands to replace our love of GOD and Scripture. We no longer hold the scepter of wisdom, power, mercy and grace by the LORD'S hand, but we are in the grips of people who have no wisdom in holding and using the great resources that the LORD gave to us for the betterment of our nation as well as those around us.

We have listened to those who have no desire to help others and desire not to aid the suppressed and those taken captive by false teachings. We have over the years allowed the loud minority to take hold of our voice of reason and Godliness and pushed us to be under their suppressed and evil regime.

Our path is before us, and well lite according to Scripture. Our Solution is in the name and person of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Our prayer is for our leaders to find the LORD and fall before HIS throne of grace. We stay on our knees in order for those in positions of authority to be able to walk up right in Godly wisdom, integrity. Praying for the salvation of the lost today. May they find grace and mercy today.

LORD bless President Biden, and all his advisors. GOD bless all on this forum. May the LORD shine HIS face on all today.

Dr. Lyle Lee Gbu your post is so interesting....Lemme give ya my take on the law a type of Uriah a husband to Bathsheba but Bathsheba was barren under Uriah just as Israel was barrren under the law...At Horeb Moses married Israel to the law just as Uriah was married to Bathsheba...The early Church was married to the law but she had a relationship with Christ Jesus which resulted in a Child called Christianity...Thats y Romans 7 : 4 is saying you are dead to the law ( Uriah ) by the body of Christ that you should be married to another even him that was raised from the dead Christ Jesus...Bathsheba was dead to Uriah by the body of David. Bathsheba was bathin and David was on his roof top when he took Bathsheba ,Jesus had already ascended when he took the church who was bathin in H.G.. baptism...But she had a husband which was the law.

.....Thus Bathsheba was an adultress as long as Uriah was alive...verse 3 if a woman who is married have another man she shall be called an aduleress but if her husband dies she is no more an adulteress...But the 1st Child was sick which was Christianity and died in its infancy...Bathsheba had to travail Again to get the Child of Promise which was Solomon a type of the H.G. The Comforter that is Gonna make OUR BODIES HIS TEMPLE... Thats y Jesus said a greater then Solomon is here...Thus the H.G. IS GONNA BUILD A GREATER TEMPLE THEN SOLOMON Gal 4 : 19 My lil Children of whom i travail in birth AGAIN .The Church will have to travail again to get the 2 nd Child the H.G. THE Child of PROMISE...She brought forth aman Child that is gonna RULE ALL NATIONS...Which is the H.G that CHILD OF Promise..Thats y Romans 7 : 4 is saying you are dead to the law by the body of Christ that you will bemarried to another even Christ Jesus...Just as Bathsheba was dead to Uriah by the body of David, We are dead to the law by the body of Christ thus we will marry Christ...The 1st Child died but the 2 nd Child is the Child of Promise the H.G. Both my husband and myself had relationships with others before we were saved . He got married and divorced before he was saved , his wife commited adultery several times . I never married before I was saved . When we met each other we were in love in less than a week and have been married for over twenty years now . I don't believe that there is a hard and fast law about this . I know others will disagree and that's ok . I believe that if my husband and I had met when we were young we wouldn't have liked each other much . People change all the time , our life experiences change us , hopefully for the better . I'm not who I was twenty or even ten years ago . God is teaching us things all the time , moulding us into who He wants us to be . He gives us what we need when He knows we need it , I think this is true of our relationships also . He brings into our lives the people that we need or that need us exactly when the time is right . Love is God's most awesome gift . If it knocks on your door don't ignore it . Pray about it , take your time ,but don't slam the door immediately .
