    Who is aman? (Verse 7)
  • Chris - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hi Beverly. The Apostle Paul, in this section of 1 Corinthians 6:1-8, is dealing with the matter of problems arising amongst certain ones in the Church & how to correctly address them. What was happening, was that if a problem or dispute arose between two believers, they would in the first instance, take the matter to court, to find justice and/or compensation. So, if for example, there was a matter of some money owed that couldn't be settled or even paid within the time limit agreed on, the aggrieved one would immediately lodge a case in court. And this could mean that the borrower may be forced to sell his possessions to make payment or be locked up (I don't exactly know how the judiciary dealt with this type of matter in those days).

What Paul was urging them to do, was to first deal with the matter 'in-house', with the Church leaders appointing others to help adjudicate and sort out the problem (v 4), or better still, as brothers in Christ, why not suffer the wrong or be lenient with each other (v 7), rather than take the matter outside the Church. We should exercise Christian love & graces first with each other rather than have 'unbelievers' & legal systems brought in to judge. I suppose for serious crimes, a civil justice & penalty may need to be administered by the 'courts', but for matters that can be easily dealt with, it is preferable for believers to attend to them, sort them out, and forgive & forget.

Waiting is always the hardest. Waiting to hear from Him, waiting to do what is next. Contemplating the past, wondering about the future, how could we ever imagine that soon the nets will be so full ,we will be beside ourselves.

That He will be waiting and watching as we struggle with His will! Who could have ever imagined, that obeying Him would lead to such a bounty! Soon the nets will not be able to hold the promises, and yet nothing shall be lost. Gather the fragments into the baskets, as we dine together. This one who leads us, we will follow, for He has been instructed on what to do! Can you hear Him say, Feed my lambs, feed my sheep, feed my sheep? Can you see the nets that are ready to burst?

    Waiting is always the hardest.

There are 4 Gospel accounts written about Jesus' ministry Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. That might be the reason John's record is after the other 3. It's more deep into study, to understand John better, much study & reading the Bible Old Testament, has helped me.

John 2:2, translated from Greek means atonement, related to Romans 5:11, Leviticus 23:27-32,

    Hopefully this is helpful

Thanks Chris, but to make it clearer I myself will soon have to resign, not my son. He's been out for sometime now anyway. It is a rule in my church that the church servants can stay in service as long as their family are in faith, otherwise they have to resign their ministry God Blessings. Have a blessed week.

Good evening GIGI, I am sorry to hear about fires your way. Hopefully soon rains without lightening will make a nice autumn for many! I should have said so earlier, my eye surgery is tomorrow and I do covet everyone's prayers.

Hi Sariah, I'm sure someone would be happy to help if you have a more specific question, but have you first tried just looking at the outline or commentary? These types of summaries already exist and might be good to read that first before asking people to take time to repeat the work already done.

Glad you checked in here today, Carleton.

Let us know when your surgery is so we can pray for you then. It is still warm here in the Puget Sound area. Last two days have been really hazy due to wildfires to the north and south. I am staying indoors so the smoke filled air does not inflame my lungs to kick up my asthma a notch or two. But forecast is for it to clear out tomorrow or so with a onshore marine push advancing upon us. This will clear the air well. I love these days in late summer. I can tell that Autumn is just around the corner, but there are still some summer days ahead. Usually, September sunny days are so comfortable and enjoyable.

Thank you brother Giannis, I agree with what you've shared here & elsewhere. God is not limited in how His Word is brought to people. Whether in the Faith or not, His Word will get through. Many Muslims testify of having received visions or dreams of God's intervening with the Word.

And for us also, receiving whether from the Word, by the Spirit & from others, so that we might hear what our Father has to say to us. But the greater responsibility rests on how & what we share with others. Hence, much of the epistles devoted to exposing false teachers & their doctrines.

I also wonder what the literacy level of those early believers were & how much of the Scriptures (OT) they knew & understood. Hence, the greater need for teachers & their gathering together to listen to God's Word. Today, we have so much more to expand our knowledge but need wisdom & discernment as to what is received. And even here, the Spirit will graciously assist us in our hunger & aspirations. And I pray your son will soon be restored into the love & service of the Lord. Every blessing brother.

    Dear Nelson

I will pray for your daughter.

Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Your Son Jesus, we ask that You deliver Nelson's granddaughter from occultic practices that serve the devil, not the Ture God. We ask that You regenerate her and bring to her Your grace through the Holy Spirit to gift her with faith in Your redemptive work in Jesus, which is the Gospel of Jesus. Father, we know that salvation wholly comes from You, no one can convert themselves, nor have faith to believe without the Work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating one You have chosen to save. Father, keep Nelson open to the lead of Your Spirit to know what to pray for and say to his granddaughter. But above all, lead him to share the gospel with her as often as possible because we believe that You empower the Gospel by Your Spirit in bringing one to faith, repentance, and conversion, leaning wholly on Jesus Christ for all of our salvation, not of any works done by us, but on the merits of Christ, who provides His righteousness to us that only is acceptable to you, Father.

Father, remove the desire for these occultic practices from this granddaughter. it is our hope that You have elected her for salvation and that You will accomplish this salvation in her. Amen.

Explain the meaning of 1Corinthians 6:1-3
  • Luke - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Giannis

On the contrary it means A MAN, not everyone has eye's to see and ears to hear, and not everyone is suppose to have them it's why Jesus spoke in parables 's and why many are divided in interpretation.

God knew us before the foundation of the world meaning he knew us before this life, he knew who we stood for during the rebellion

You're implying that we have to be in THE CHURCH and listen to THE Church to receive the gifts of teaching of all things from the Holy Spirit? When in John 14:23 Is speaking to the individual, Hence the phrase (A MAN) and the word (He, and Him)

22 Judas saith unto Him, not Iscariot, Lord, how comes it to pass that Thou art about to manifest Thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, "If a man love Me, he will keep My word: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abiding places beside him.

24 He that loveth Me not keepeth not My words: and the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's Which sent Me.

25 These things have I spoken to you, abiding [yet] beside you.

26 But the Comforter, which is The Spirit, The Holy, Whom the Father will send in My name, that One shall teach you all things, and put you in mind of, whatsoever I have said unto you. (This would be scripture, and the recalling of what you READ in scripture, and not what THE CHURCH tells you what it means) or we'd all be lost.

The Comforter IS for the Individual, and well as the body or else we'd all be lost.

JESUS SAID IF A MAN LOVE ME AND KEEP MY WORD WE WILL COME UNTO HIM AND MAKE OUR ABIDING PLACES BESIDE HIM

    In 1 Corinthians 12

Paul is, he's establishing Church's, and has received a letter about the Church in Corinth that it's got problems, and there's a few clicks,,, and Paul is teaching here, how (A Church) should be set up which IMO is how you should have implied it, and not with (THE CHURCH)

That being said, the many member body of Christ is with many gifts (yes), and with many function's (yes) amen, just as is the human body,,, the arm does one thing while the leg does another with Christ being The Head...not everyone will receive the gifts each one brings, because The Church has been infiltrated by pretenders, so a true body is hard to establish especially when that body is of the Love Feast with hidden rocks.

    God's Mercy To Us

    Titus 3:3-8

    3. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lust and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

    4. But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,

    5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

    6. Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;

    7. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

    8. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Hi Gigi; I would like to challenge the thought of Christ referring unto his literal body being in the grave three days and three night according to Jonah, as we must consider the seven feasts of Israel from Leviticus 23 for the correct understanding of this passage. On the 14 day of the month Abib, they crucified the Lord, it was the Passover, Christ then died before 6 o'clock and was buried, then the next feast day started the feast of unleavened bread on the 15 day of the month Abib, finally he rose early on the third day which was the feast firstfruits. All three of these names are then given unto the Lord Jesus by the Apostle Paul using metaphors, to explain that God was following Leviticus 23. Now if you suppose the Lord Jesus' body was in the grave on the third night, then Christ had to rise on the fourth day, meaning the 17Th day of the month Abib, which was not a feast day at all, and if indeed he rose on the fourth day, why do all the scriptures say he rose on the third day?
