If you accepted Christ at one time, but back slid; would you have to have demons cast out upon returning to Christ? It's said that it is more demons when you backside?

2 Corinthians 9:7..."Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Tithes was an OT law to ONLY the Levitical priesthood. Jesus, as you know, was the fulfilling of the law. End changed a few things in the NT. When he was here, the tithing was in effect. But after him, it wasn't.

I'm sure there are those who will disagree and that's fine. But if you are "required" to give, how "cheerful" is that? How could that NOT be of "necessity"? How can one "purpose" in his heart, if he/she is "compelled" to give 10%? Jesus brought mercy and grace. The Law was force.

I do believe in giving. I think God works in each person's heart as to how, when, which cause, how much, etc. I would say it's a personal thing between a person and God. He doesn't "need" our money. It's the point of helping and doing it cheerfully to bless. We are a vessel that should flow. We get, we give, we receive, repeat.

    Shauna,

If you are referring to Psalm 138:8, I would say this is talking about God in His infinite wisdom perfecting our lives.

Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

The word good used in this verse is the word AGATHOS, meaning spiritual good. Human good is KALOS. Spiritual good is AGATHOS.

That makes a big difference because if I'm looking at it religiously, (humanly), and on a horizontal physical plain, when it says "all thing work together for good," that means in the human, God's going to work things out good for me in the human and in the flesh.

No, this is spiritual good. Also, please notice that it doesn't say all things are good. It says that all things are going to be worked out for the good.

What's good and bad in the human, that's our judgment system. To God, everything is good because He's doing everything. And when we have things "go wrong," in God's vocabulary, that's not even in there. We might say, "Lord, things are going wrong." But to Him everything is going right.

We know that all things work together for good, and look at the two descriptions of the people for whom everything is working out for the good. It is to those who love God, and to those who are called according to His purpose.

Why? Because everything's going to work out according to the will of God, so that when I do pray for the Lord's will to be done, I can know because this is a promise right from God, that all things work together for the good. It's because He's working it out in our lives. He's perfecting us!

    Richard,

Very well said. Complete surrender of one's life to Christ is how we experience the fullness of who He is.

And indeed, once we are born of Gods Spirit, we are no longer controlled by sin, nor can we be because we have His Spirit that keeps prevents sin from taking control.

What you say about Satan is very true. I'm not sure if you agree with me or not on this but I believe Satan wants to give us more material things in this world than the Lord does. The Lord gives us our necessities but Satan wants us to have it all, anything and everything, in order to take our focus off the Lord.

And I agree, Jesus said, No man can serve two masters; you cannot serve God and mammon.

The word "cannot" in the Greek text literally means that we do not have the capacity. We have not been created with the capacity to serve more than one master. It's impossible.

And the Jews had a saying. They said that you can look for two different employers, you can have a day job, and have a night job, and you don't have to belong to just one. But, if you are a slave, your duty is to only one master and not to anyone else.

We are slaves to Christ. Jesus said about our service, that we cannot serve two masters. It's impossible!

Thank you so much for everything you share with us. Blessings to you in Christ Jesus!

    Hi Salvatore.

Prayer and totaly relying on God to strengthen you. You pray for virtue in patience and mercy.

And talk to the kids along that line as well.

Love and compassion when one has fallen is who we are.

If she is truly converted she will return. and if she's not, through your chased conversation/Loving kindness, she will return!

I'm sure it seems hopeless but that where God shows his glory and we praise him in the end.

It's very important for you and the kids to commit yourselves to the Lord, " Not for the sake of the marriage because that's already inseparable. It's for the blessings that come with the marriage such as unconditional love, mercy, longsuffering, peace.

A marriage is to model Christ and his bride. "The Church ". And that's inseparable.

Be strong in the Lord. We will pray with you.

    God bless.

It is also worth noting the devil left Him " only for a season" in fact while in the wilderness it was the devil saying "if thou be the Son of God " yet at Jordan it was God the zFather who had declared He was ,thus not letting God justify Him but as all temptations are to get him to react and work in the flesh .Your right the devil knew who He was also .

But at Calvary it was men who were tempting Him with the same words .

Thank you S Spencer for a such a reply .

My original contention was concerning ' predestination' which I still think should be the right English word for that verse for reasons already given . What is interesting though that outside of Christ we are not destined for anything save hell and damnation.

But in Christ we ARE destined for greater things a higher destiny and for those works preordained from before the foundation of the world .

"The art of losing myself in bringing you praise." This lyric from Phillips Craig and Dean's song "From the Inside Out" truly shows a Biblical world view. The whole song is worthy of a good listen as well as the music itself.

We think of such a mindset when we are "in love" with someone. I hesitate to use that terminology with our Agape love toward God because it tends to reduce God to a sappy view and reduce His other attributes. Our surrender; nonetheless is based on such love and also TRUST. A wife won't be submissive to her husband voluntarily unless she sees that he is a person of a worthy character; and in a large part that has to do with a Biblical foundation and also trusting that the One who created us knows what He's talking about. The designer of the universe designed us to function in a certain way; and since the fall we can see how successful man is at doing things his own way. We see that even the animal kingdom has become violent and in fact in the situation in Rwanda back in the 1990s even the apes in the jungle violently destroyed a resort after witnessing the bloodbath the competing tribes were giving each other at the time of the horrible massacre when even the surrounding waters became filled with blood.

In reality if we are truly Born Again we ARE dead to self after the Spirit enters in. This also is well expounded on in the lyrics of this song as God truly does housecleaning within and takes up residence along with the Father. ( John 14:23). Satan loves to double down on us at that point attempting to convince us that we are missing out on something the world has to offer; and consequently trying to convince us that abstaining from these things is keeping us from our "blessing". Thus; many are drawn and enticed by illicit relationships; easy money and other temptations rather than trusting God that "all these things will be added unto you." ( Matt. 6:33). As the verse of the day shows we can't serve both God and money.

Discipline in light of walking in faith.

In light of my earlier warning about a root of bitterness developing is Paul's exhortation referencing "buffeting himself" ( 1 Cor. 9:23-27). Self sacrifice not only doesn't come easy; it really doesn't come at all in our old nature. The secret here is to spend time with the Lord to allow Him to more fully occupy our hearts; minds; bodies and souls; as He is truly Master and Lord of all or not truly Lord at all. Just as a job at work is much easier when we are conversing and our minds are occupied; we can also give the Lord the reigns of our hearts and minds so that we simply follow the lead. This doesn't mean that we somehow look at the Bible as something we are to get into us without making the effort to study scripture; it isn't osmosis or some mystical power the pages of the book possess themselves; it is the fact that the Word is the living Word; a testimony of how the Spirit makes clear to us the practical wisdom; the prophetic and all other things we can grow in as our spiritual discernment and giftings are sharpened.

People have argued whether our old nature is truly dead; "covered by the blood"; dormant; etc. I would say that like a car without fuel it remains inactive unless we choose to fuel it by activating sin; which almost always begins with thoughts and imaginations. That is what I will cover in my next Psalm reading. I would say that if we are truly Born Again that Satan will infuse thoughts that if we aren't diligent to catch will trigger us into activating the old man into sin. So if we are saved and walking in the Spirit then what must first catch our attention is something resembling our old pattern of emotions or thoughts but originating from a demonic source. These suggestions of course don't give us a hint of the affect; namely Satan's accusations the moment we cave into sin. Unlike the father of lies; God's light is without variance ( John 8:12). May we live in this steadfastness.

I'm like you Gerald, I wouldn't know a Greek salad if I ate it, but I do study or verify Greek words with the Strongs concordance. It's been very profitable. I have gotten help from other brothers and it didn't often give new revelation but gave deeper and enhanced meaning. for example In Matthew 4:1-11 one word translated makes all the world the difference but it didn't give me new revelation because there is other scriptures that painted the same picture but the Greek or Hebrew gave more light.

    Here's is the verse;

"And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread."

In the Greek the verse reads "SINCE" thou be the Son of God. The devil knew exactly who Jesus was.

In fact the demons knew who he was through out the Gospels.

This cause us to look at the word tempted a little closer in the Greek.

The Holyspirit is who drove Christ in the wilderness to be tempted/proven. "or to confirm Jesus is who the scriptures says he is".

You see an example of this in Luke 14:19. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

This test is not to see if he would fail or not it's to show that he won't.

It's getting late, Perhaps others can elaborate more.

    God bless.

    Dear Vatina,

Yes, he is young still. I have arthritis in my back and shoulders and hands and feet. For pain, I have tried many therapies. What has helped me the most are medications that are help with nerve pain. The pain that comes from arthritis manifests in nerve pain. I take Cymbalta in the morning and Gabapentin in the late afternoon and then at bedtime and colchicine once a day. If things get worse then I take Aleve. Since finally getting all three of these meds I do not need narcotic pain meds or muscle relaxers anymore.

You may have him ask his doctor about these medicines. They may be helpful for him.

    Amen Brother Jesse.

These passages is so important to understand!

The crucifixion and resurrection brought life. "Sanctification.

Then Paul goes on In Romans 8 and talk about our walk!

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, but after the Spirit.

FOR THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, but after the Spirit.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Paul is giving us a lesson on the laws of nature between the flesh and the Spirit.

This is spiritual physics if you will.

Our old nature was married to sin "Inseparable!!

Salvation is much more than just atonement and freeing us from the penalty of sin but it also assists us in the power over sin and a fruit filled life BY THE WORKING OF THE SPIRIT. We had and have nothing to offer of ourselves.

Some of the most used verses in Romans 8 is the first half of verse 1. "THERE IS THEREFORE NOW NO CONDEMNATION TO THEM WHICH ARE IN CHRIST JESUS." and Romans 8:28-39.

The context of Romans 8:2-27 seems to get looked over alot.

Paul has a lot to say about the work of the Holyspirit and the contrast between the flesh and the Spirit in Romans 6 on through Romans 8.
