Good morning Gigi! I was referencing your statement "He does not learn anything new nor does He find out things as time passes. He knows all that will ever be and every possibility that could ever be. So, nothing surprises Him." As I read the Bible it seems to me that there are "actions of man" that do surprise him or that he never thought of before. I don't know any other way to interpret "neither came it into my mind". Also, in Noah's time God seemed surprised "that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." I take it that when he repented he meant regretted, because he destroyed man whom he created. If he knew the extent of how wicked man would get he would have been "grieved" beforehand.

If kings were killed in the last 7 years, why do we read that there are Kings in Heaven? Thank you, regards John.

I don't attend a church anymore, I was excluded from mine for marrying a lady of a different denomination , so I tithe by regular charity donations straight from my bank account . I firmly believe that the most precious gift we can give is our time , it's the only thing that is really ours to give , it can be a real sacrifice to give it and do something that we don't really want to do instead of doing something that we really enjoy , it's the most appreciated thing, money is easy , give someone a friendly smile and a chat , ask if they need anything and if they say yes , do it for them . Our time is the only thing we truely own , Jesus gave his time , he gave his life to the service of others , to the point of dying that we might be saved . Money is a quick conscience fix , surely it's needed and appreciated by the recipient but time is very precious and to give yours to others is a not just appreciated by the recipient , its also good for us . I think we are all aware of how precious our own time is , this also means that when we give it to someone , they know that we have spent it on them and it makes them feel loved and special . There's no greater gift in my opinion . It's a real sacrifice to give it , David says somewhere something like : I shall not give to the LORD something that has cost me nothing . That's not what true sacrifice is , I'm not rich bit to give away a few bucks wouldn't be too hard to me . To be out shovelling snow off someone else's driveway when I could be at home warm , these are the kindnesses that others appreciate I think , I hope !

wow, we need to pray for him. I have nothing lefty. showed him all this and then he in turn asked, why is it the rocket always leans to the right (as he shows me a video) after interring atmosphere. then he proceeds to show me a video of a camera mounted to the rockets flight to the moon, that hits space and suddenly hits what seems to be water and even makes the sound of such action. he says hence, the separated waters. goes back to the "who cares as long as we have Jesus & live accordingly.

God doesn't need our money so if you are a faithful tither, like me, we are to give from the heart. What we can afford once our necessary bills are paid & we have food to eat till the next paycheck. Pray & let God guide you in where, when, how & for who you are to tithe your time, abilities & love to.! If anyone says you must give them money or that you can't do this or that unless you tithe a certain amount...RUN my child & run fast. They are not of God. Yes, you can give to a church yet tithing comes from a cheerful giver. If it puts you in anguish in any way, how cheerful is that? God bless & be w/you & yours "Texsis"

    Hi Richard.

    You've said a mouth full, especially when you said;

    Quoting you;

A-.. "people that are tightly knit look out for one another and are able to help us to keep boundaries and hopefully accountability in our lives.

I believe when we are tightly knit together we should be consider Galatians 6:1-4. when we have this brother that seems to be out of line in conduct.

( If we love him we would help him! )

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, RESTORE SUCH AN ONE IN THE SPIRIT OF MEEKNESS; CONSIDERING THYSELF, LEST THOU ALSO BE TEMPTED.

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another."

    Continuing Quoting you;

B-.. This; of course is a two way street; we shouldn't expect a hypocritical standard where the leadership can live in open rebellion while expecting everyone else to have a legalistic standard."

This is where Galatians 6:1 says "considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." comes into effect.

Today we prefer not restore or help someone, or maybe there is no fault to be found.

We shun that person without any attempt to reason.

These differences and confusion may be found in

    1 Corinthians 12:13-23

It's the Spirit that harmonize us without partiality or hypocrisy.

This is where fleshly discernment has its flaws in partiality and hypocrisy.

The Spirit of truth should harmonize both parties and we trust and submit to that.

There's a side to truth that isn't pleasant in a culture where we rather lie and present ourselves as pleasant. Because a rebuke is not often taken well, and even when done meekly it's not cultural so it is deemed as unpleasant.

If a "BROTHERN" needs help you help him, you don't shun him.

This is why we examine ourselves.

    God bless.

    Hi Elizabeth Moon,

The reason why i tell people to Pray for understanding is because God has given to us Freely and Jesus said whoever reads let him understand

    Matthew 24:15

And when you pointed that question i too would like to know the meaning but the best way to find the answer is to go back in our prayer closest and enquire from the author of the scripture.

    Amen.

may the peace of God and our lord Jesus Christ be with you amen.

    Continuation:

And the bible is very clear, especially when we get into the book of Revelation, is that when we are in heaven, we will be clothed in the robes of the righteousness of Christ.

In fact, we will have on white robes that have been dipped in blood. And they will be pure white. It is because of the purity of Christ and the forgiveness of Christ.

Only those people who have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and who are dressed in His righteousness, will be at God's banqueting table.
  • Jesse - In Reply on Psalms 138 - 3 years ago
    Brenda,

I completely agree with what GiGi has given you. If I might just piggyback off her post and share some additional information on these garments.

When someone gave a wedding feast, he also would provide wedding feast garments. Now if you wore your own clothes, you went to a changing area and you changed into the wedding feast garments.

They were white robes and they could not be dirty. If they got dirty, you had to go put another one on. So this guy just came in from the road and he has got his own clothes on. So the king comes in and he sees this man which did not have on a wedding garment.

In Verse 12, he says friend, and this is the word HETEROS in Greek. It is not friend like we are buddies, but acquaintances, like you would call someone on the street that you just met. "How are you today friend?" It doesn't mean that you are buddies.

The Greeks have different words for greetings. This one says Friend, how did you come in here not having on a wedding garment? And he was speechless. I mean, what are you going to say?

Then there's the condemnation Verse 13 and it seems like pretty harsh treatment. But then in Verse 14, we see the conclusion, and the teaching of the parable of the wedding feast:

It says, For many are called, but few are chosen. So now we can see the application of what it means that many are called, but few are chosen?

Even people who want to come to the wedding feast, if they don't have the proper garments, they will not be chosen.

This man was at the wedding feast. He was there. He was at the banqueting table, but he was asked leave. Well, he wasn't asked to leave, the ushers took him out.

He was not chosen. He didn't have the proper wedding garment on!

I am about out of space so I need to send another short post.

    Hello Brenda,

I think that this verse is referring to the robe of righteousness of Jesus Christ believers possess. We are clothed in His righteousness, not our own, so that we can stand before the Father and not be destroyed. Those attending the wedding feast of the Lamb will all be wearing this robe of righteousness of Jesus-therefore are believers.

Hello Thomas, This verse is referring to having sexual relations with the wife of one's father, not a mother, but a step mother. Perhaps one that has been divorced or widowed, but also to take liberties with the wife of one's living father. It dishonors the father and the marital bed.

Thank you for your reply Duncan. I do pray for understanding and that's why I'm here. I also know that Scripture interprets Scripture but still I am baffled. I'm trying to lean on the understanding of others. It's not really that important to know this. It's not essential for salvation or anything. I would just like to know what other people think of the 153 fish. Why that particular number?

What does it mean in Mt 22:11-14 that the king "noticed a man who wasn't wearing the proper clothes for a wedding" the man had no reply so he was thrown into the outer darkness. " For many are called, but few are chosen' does this mean that even if you're saved you might not be chosen? What are the proper wedding clothes?

alex1939...Hiya Cathy..If you are refering to Levi one of the evil Bro. of Joseph...Gen.37:18 kjv...They were forgiven..But he was in that gang that sold his Bro. Joseph into slavery...And told his Mother and Father he had not seen him (Joseph his 17 yrs old bro.) Then to add insult to injury they brought Joseph's Coat to Jacob and ask is this your son's coat ? ...They had dipped it in the blood of a goat and Jacob said a wild beast has done this and he was right the wild beast is the ten that were born of the will of the flesh...Not of the will of Jacob who only loved Rachel...Only 2 came out of the relationship with Rachel whom he loved dearly....Joseph and Benjamin who were said to be born of the Spirit...As Joseph was a type of Christ that was sold for 20 pieces of silver...But what they meant for evil God meant for good...That millions wd be saved from this horrible famine.

.....But Joseph means adding a son and Benjamin was the added Son in the flesh ...But being Joseph was a type of Christ in over 100 ways thus there has to be a Son added to Jesus...In the Spiritual realm ...Which is the H.G. that Child of Promise...Whosoever receiveth one such Child in my name receiveth me...She brought forth a man child that is gonna rule all nations with a rod of iron...And Jesus is the Bridegroom...The Kingdom does not come till the woman births the manchild the H.G. That added son...k Gbu

    Body of Christ

The Body of Christ and our relation to it is compared to a mystery ( Eph. 5:32). Sacrifice and devotion to someone else that has become part of ourselves with a marriage is somewhat of a similarity to our relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Probably the most apt analogy is that when we are busy in fellowship with one another that we forget the importance of our own needs and they really don't seem that vital anymore. It should be noted however that within the fellowship of the saints there is the best means to find answers through the wisdom of the Spirit and other gifts working in the saints. What is best for us could also be described as similar to that of a parent to a child in such surroundings; people that are tightly knit look out for one another and are able to help us to keep boundaries and hopefully accountability in our lives. This; of course is a two way street; we shouldn't expect a hypocritical standard where the leadership can live in open rebellion while expecting everyone else to have a legalistic standard. Numbers 32:23 indicates that our "sins shall find us out."

Trust of course is an important element whether in human relationships or those in fellowship corporately. Much has been said of tactfulness and sensitivity; and for those who are open to rebuke and have a "broken and contrite spirit" ( Psalm 51) that surely is effective. When it comes to more difficult people or situations then there needs to be a track record which the saints can trust leadership to handle things effectively. That is also similar to the vows and marriage covenant in that there is accountability and standards agreed to which has something to do with our doctrinal statement of faith; but is directly tied into our commitment to Christ. That is obviously beyond just a verbal assent to believe in Christ; but when we become church members such vows normally are made with consequences spelled out for rebellious action.

I'm wondering if you have been reading Genesis chapter 34 perhaps . We see in this chapter , problems occuring when the father's of the nation of Israel meet the rest of the world . Just from memory , I believe these incidents occurred before Israel was definatively told not to marry out of its own tribe . The men of Shechem were prepared to be circumcised but because one of them had enticed Dinah and slept with her , Simeon and Levi were not prepared to let that go .Their reaction and behaviour might seem a little harsh . Jacob was certainly annoyed at them but only because he was afraid that when the rest of the people around them heard about this , they might turn on his family and kill them . We don't hear anything about how God felt about Simeon and Levi's actions but at the beginning of chapter 35 God instructs Jacob to move his family to Bethel , out of harm's way perhaps ? Maybe it wasn't God's will for the Israelites to marry into the people of Shechem even if they had agreed to be circumcised ? As I said , we don't hear God's reaction to these events , other than He tells Jacob to move his family away from that area . God uses whomever He wants to to execute His will . They don't have to believe in Him to be used by Him in order to fulfill His purpose . I suspect that it was not God's will for Israel and Shechem to intermarry , I could be wrong about that but I feel that if it had been His will then it would have happened . Humans can not hinder God's plans and purpose . His will be done , by whatever means , He is in charge .

    Thank you S. Spencer.

We can also talk on this thread about ways we show we treasure the shedding of our Lord's blood as being more precious than anything else.

I am thinking that we show this positive mindset about the blood of Christ by speaking truthfully about His person and His work and how His shed blood affects us.

We can show this positive mindset by praying for opportunities to share the gospel fully and completely with someone who is lost and then do it when the opportunity comes to us.

We can show that we treasure the blood of Jesus when we admit our absolute need for it for our salvation, admitting that we are sinners in need of atonement and the removal of our sin and guilt from us along with a desire to be right with God through the blood of our Savior, the only begotten Son.

We can show that the blood of Jesus is precious to us whenever we approach the throne of grace to draw near to the FAther knowing that it is the blood of Jesus that permits this.

I am sure others have very good thoughts on this, too. Looking forward to reading them.
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Leviticus 16 - 3 years ago
    Thanks Gigi.

    Great topic.

Wilful sin is a big issue as the article mentioned.

Hebrews 10:26-27. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Here's also a commonly looked over sin.

James 4:17. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Sometimes we as Christians think we have the balances in our hands to tell the degree of the offence so we weigh the sin against another man's sin. That seems to give us comfort to continue in our folly.

We should understand that we have been bought/Redeemed with the blood of Christ!

Here is where we examine ourselves to see if Christ Lords over our life.

Galatians 2:20-21. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

This righteousness is not just Positionally it is practical. It should be on display "BECAUSE" it is energized by the Spirit.

This is not how well we serve, it's WHO we serve and WHO is glorified.

It's the outward act that shows the inward parts. ( The regenerated heart.)

If we count the blood of Christ dear to us we should have a fear of offending the grace of God, so his word and our our worship should line up with scripture.

Our walk and zeal confirms our attitude towards the ransom.

Another way to treat the blood of Christ as if it wasn't enough and try to add to it is to say "You don't except it or perhaps don't believe it.

    God bless.

It seems you gave a fine description of the ministry of the Holyspirit.

    TRUTH.

    He is reveals. John 16:13.

    He discerns. 1 Corinthians 2:14-15.

This is the work of God functioning in the inner man and displaying outwardly in believers.

" Worshipping in truth and in Spirit"

    John 4:23.

    Philippians 2:13.

I believe this takes denying ourselves and submission.

And when HE is present WE bares fruit.

This is practical, not a manifestation of the flesh. "Man doesn't WILL it to happen.

In fact as he matures I don't think he can keep it from happening.

Matthew 7:16-20. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

A GOOD TREE CANNOT BRING FORTH EVIL FRUIT, NEITHER CAN A CORRUPT TREE BRING FORTH GOOD FRUIT.

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

I believe when we exhibit this spirit efficient fruit then we are able to exhibit our gift. (Christ) in us and we in him.

    Ephesians 4:11-15. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

    God bless.

Hi Cathy. There are several men named Levi in the Bible ( Genesis 29:34; Mark 2:14; Luke 3:24; Luke 3:29), but I think you are referring to one of Jacob's sons. Nothing more is given about this Levi, but much is spoken about those who descended from him. One important portion of Scripture is in Deuteronomy 33:8-11, where Moses, before he died, gave his special blessings to each of Jacob's sons, & specifically to Levi in this passage. So, we can assume that Levi was a God-fearing man & brought up his children in like manner; though there were sins committed among certain of them.

    "The Preciousness of the Blood"

    Part 3

"A part of this was surely that the blood, as symbolized in the wine (of which some drank too much, vs. 21), was disregarded and profaned.

Not only is misconduct at the Lord's Table profaning the blood of Christ, but also absence from the Lord's Table. There are many who view communion as a ritual best to be endured, and then only occasionally. The New Testament saints remembered the Lord daily ( Acts 2:42-46), and later it was weekly ( Acts 20:7; 1 Cor.11:2 cf. 16:2). Those who consistently failed to commemorate the Lord's death not only disobeyed the command of the Lord ( Lk. 22:19-20) but they profane the blood He shed by valuing it so little that they fail to commemorate His death as He has instructed us. ....

There is essentially but one way in which non-Christians profane the blood of Jesus Christ, and that is esteeming it of so little worth that they seek acceptance with God on the basis of their own works, in place of the atonement, in which Christ shed His own blood. Imagine standing before the judgment seat of God (the Great White Throne) and having God ask you but one question, the answer to which determines whether you spend eternity in heaven or in hell. The question, I assure you, will be this, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE BLOOD OF MY SON?"

God cares nothing for what you have to offer, but only what He Himself has offered you, His only begotten Son: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." ( Jn. 3:16). How dare any man think he could offer God anything for his own redemption, when God has paid the price in full at the cost of the blood of His own Son."

I just thought that this portion of this article was so well said and worth consideration.

We may be able to think of other ways we can profane the blood of Jesus.

I think of when a believer shows acceptance of non-christian by Jesus without conversion. More ideas?
