Lamar Ephesians 6:1-4 notice carefully to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. The idea

being if your children that know you love them when raised correctly aren't listening or obeying you that they can

physically see and hear and respect how will they be able to listen what they can't physically see or most times hear.

Therefore first part obey respect Parents in the Lord. Prayerfully this Helps.

I believe that Isaiah 4:1 is literal. Homeless, drug/alcohol addicted, sexually abused, and mentally disabled women are some of the most vulnerable and rejected human beings on the planet. They actually don't want to be married, but that's because of past bad marriages, and the realization that nobody cares about them anymore. Seven to one is accurate, esp during the pandemic. I love seven women, but only a couple are worth marrying.

Chris This answer is not complicated, after Acts water baptism a you said is barely mentioned and for the

part not at all in later Epistles. Also What I read and from a personal experience and from other comments on

where people knew people or were themselves born again spiritually then got baptized in water. From what I

understand it was the entrance John the baptist being the precursor to the end desire of God to Have Spiritual

children Born again of His spirit. So I see the age of Grace where if I'm sharing the gospel and the person says

I'll believe if I sit in my garden and pray then I'll walk with them to the garden. I believe it is inspired action to

achieve the spiritual Goal. So if some one says I want to be water baptized and I'll believe let pray and Go for it.

It remind me in the Gospels where someone said to Jesus Christ help thou mine unbelief, so whatever it takes as

as long as it not some wacked out physical task or bowing down to anyone Except God and His Christ.

Just my heart on the subject P.S. Reminds me of Paul

saying become all things to all men that we might win some! God Bless

No , we have no idea about any of that as it's not in the Bible .

I fully agree GiGi. Sisters in the NT Church then, as they do now, play an extremely vital role in Church life - they certainly filled the 'deaconess' role, without officially being named as such. But then, what's in a name?

Bro. Rick. You asked, "The real question is what's changed or why?"

I don't believe anything has changed from the command by the Lord to go into the World, teach all nations & baptize them in the Trinity, to when the Holy Spirit fell upon those apostles (i.e. baptized directly from God), to when the apostles carried out that command to teach & then baptize those who believed. To make water baptism a necessary part of salvation's Gift, rather than an act of identification with that Gift, in my mind is untenable. Water baptism & reception of the Spirit at conversion, go hand in hand - i.e. if you believe you were baptized, no arguments could be presented. Could any of that great gathering ( Acts 2:41) have objected to being baptized & not face the surprise & consternation of Peter? The multiitude knew both the great worth of their salvation & the great cost of being identified with Christ, breaking away from their religion/idols. Today, we really have no sense of it, except those expressing faith through baptism in Hindu/Muslim regions.

But a question rarely asked, if at all: were the 12 apostles (except Paul) baptized in water after they were saved at Pentecost? Most believers would unflinchingly say, Yes. But have any of the apostles ever spoken of their baptism in their letters or seen in the Book of Acts? There seems to be a precedent for those who may not have received the Gospel by conventional means (i.e. receiving it directly by the Spirit). There will also be situations where a person is desperately ill or incapable of being water baptized (except by sprinkling). Also, when those who want to be baptized & there was none to do it, & much time has since passed by making the command inappropriate for its meaning. I see occasions that not being baptized is valid.

Is Water Baptism no longer valid because of the Spirit's baptism? I see no where in Scripture to invalidate it, but I see exceptions to the rule (given above) & its performance by the Church today.

Hi christine If its important enough God will tell you if its necessary spiritually for your life, ask and ye shall

receive. Things pf the spirit are a need to know bases for your personal walk, so if you need to know he will tell

    you.
  • Chris - In Reply - 4 years ago
Hi Christine. I hope you can get other viewpoints & guidance on this matter, especially from a sister who may be able to give you better help based on feminine senses.

The Bible doesn't afford much help specific to your case as the setting there is of eastern thought & culture; where girls married according to the dictates of their parents; the girls were taught to be fully subservient to their husbands; to bear children & keep the home; and as far as believers were concerned, that deep relationships (whether in marriage, business, etc.) should only be with fellow believers ( 2 Corinthians 6:14). Now, how the Church ascertained whether the eligible young man or woman were suitable, would probably be by having conversations between them/their parents, their Christian walk & witness & ability to provide for their needs. No doubt, with the very few believers in the early Church, I would think that one wouldn't have many choices amongst marriagable folk, so committing the matter to the Lord would have also been very important - but unfortunately, the Bible doesn't go into any detail about this, rather about holding the marriage together.

My advice is to keep this matter in prayer to the Lord & really listen out for His Voice to your heart & not be led by what you feel is the best. Sometimes, our desires can be overpowering making the 'voice' in your heart become the 'Voice of God'. In addition, if you are acquainted with your male friend's family or friends, you can 'sound them out' discreetly to learn where this man is really at, not only spiritually, but emotionally, mentally, & a heart for the unsaved & underprivileged. Unfortunately, so many Christian marriages dissolve for various reasons though not for want of trying to rescue them - if you truly sense that all the 'feelers' you put out to the Lord & others, give you assurance, then you may want to take the friendship to the next level. And remember, he is probably considering you too with a prayerful heart.

  • GiGi - In Reply on Luke 1 - 4 years ago
    Ricardo,

The Holy Spirit was active in humanity since the beginning. He rested upon prophets as they were set out on their ministry by God. John was a special case. He received the anointing presence of the Holy spirit from the time he was conceived. He was chosen to be the forerunner to the Messiah, Jesus) as prophesied . God chose to endue John with the Holy Spirit from the womb for him to carry out that which he was created to do-to be the first prophet in Israel in over 500 years to announce the arrival of the prophesied Messiah. Can you imagine what he was like growing up? With Elizabeth and Zachariah as his parents? Though sinful as all of us are, he must have been a good kid overall, having the Holy Spirit guiding, sanctifying, and empowering as the Spirit does for us. But he was an exception in his day, so he must have stood out among is peers. maybe that is why he lived in the desert-didn't fit in much with the world!

Some posit that he, like Elijah was translated, like those who will be alive when Jesus returns. Our bodies will be changed from a corruptible body to and incorruptible one when they leave earth. That is what people think happened to Enoch and Elijah (Possibly Moses, since there was an argument between God and Satan over his body and He appeared with Elijah and Jesus at the Transfiguration.)

Dgjot, Paul spoke about this extensively in Galatians and elsewhere. At the council of Jerusalem that Paul attended with James, John, and Peter, the decision was made tat Gentiles do not need to be circumcised to be saved. Paul said that it does not matter if one is or not. With that said, I don't really think that it was customary in the early centuries for gentile males to be circumcised. Whenever it came into practice in the Gentile world it had become custom. It has no spiritual significance. But it seemed to be recommended for sanitary purposes in less sanitary times than today. It would be easy for a male to get infections between the foreskin and shaft without good hygiene. In more modern times, I think most people had their male infants circumcised so they would resemble their fathers and other males they may view. That was our reason for circumcising our three sons. I know of people who didn't without any problems and some who did have problems with infection. It is a personal choice parents can make for their infant, but it may not be covered by insurance.

I suppose you could google the history of it and find out more. I just haven't felt a reason to do so, but you may find information that answers your question.

Here's a good testimony, but it isn't mine. I just talked to my friend of 4 decades and she relayed to me that they missed a turn on the road and went airborne 7 feet in the are for 20 feet or so, landed right side up without rolling, and skid to a stop after about 100 feet. Walked away wit just a few bruises and sore muscles. The car was towed and is driveable. What a wonderful miracle! I guess God sent those "eagles wings" to guide their car to a safe stop. I am so happy. I could have lost these dear friends. So I am very thankful today!

This was the top of the list for God's commandments on how we treat others (the first ones being how we treat Him).

There is probably lots of information on this if you google the question, I recommend trying that.

From what I can remember from my instruction on the commandments, this one means to respect and obey your parents as a child and youth. As an adult it means to respect and not neglect your parents. You are to be careful to have the best relationship you can with them as long as they live. It means to take care of them and their needs when they cannot. It means to be hospitable to them when they visit you or need to stay with you. When it says that their days may be long in the land that God gives them, I believe it is specifically talking about the Israelites entering the promised land, either the days of the parents or the days of the days of the one the command is given to.

In today's times, this phrase can mean that there is a blessing to parents and our selves when we obey this command.

    Dear Csaaphill,

I will agree with you in prayer.

Lord Jesus, I ask that you will increase and strengthen Csaapill's faith from this moment on. Keep Csaaphill steadfast in faith and in walking with you. Lord, Help Csaapill understand and manage anger. Keep Csaaphill from sinning in anger.

Lord, I also ask that you will Csaaphill from turning back to the world's ways, since his/her desire is to stay in your way.

Lord, these are all things within your will, so we can be assured that you will answer in the best ways because you can do all things that are good and right and just. We pray in your name, Lord Jesus, Amen

Gigi Yes have to look through some stuff, you may find it Historically on a site that shows scripturally

Gods original design of the Temple in Jerusalem. I'm still going to look it up again, its really remarkable since

everything in the structure and design pointed to the Messiah. Which is why in Hebrews so much is explained

about the design and build and law and sacrifices and what they pointed to.

Hi Cassidy, I think that this lie of Satan was the first lie told to humanity. But we do not know if Satan lied to the other angels to convince them to rebel with him in heaven.
