Does anyone knows who the Alexander, the Jew verse 33 mentioned?
  • Alex N - 3 years ago
Phil Matthew 22 : 42 ....Jesus asked the Pharisees what think ye of Christ whos son is he, They replied Davids son ,Then Jesus answered them saying if David calls him LORD in the SPIRIT...how can Jesus be his son...Jesus is telling them if DAVID calls him LORD CAN HOW CAN HE BE IN SON...His bloodline etc...How can Jesus be of the tribe of Judah if he were Davids LORD...And they asked him no more questions after that encounter.

.....Phil but in Romans 1 : 3 and several other places it says our lord is of the seed of David according to the flesh...So the bible tells us he was of the tribe of Judah according to the flesh.

.....But our lord tells us he was NOT of the tribe of Judah ACCORING TO THE SPIRIT...in MATTHEW 22 : 42 As David in the Spirit calls him LORD.

....Even Hebrews said our LORD sprang outta Judah.... Hebrews 7 : 14 kjv...( according to the FLESH ) Mary

.....And Psalms 132: 11 One of your own descendents will i place on your throne forever...Which is Christ that came out of MARY of the tribe of JUDAH....Thats the connection to the tribe of Judah is MARY Davids Descendent.

.....But he cd not come out of the tribe of Judah according to the Spirit simply b/c the tribe of Judah as all the tribes carried the stain and the spot of Adam....As the lamb of God cd not have any such a spot.... Isaiah 53

Dear Victoria, James 4:8 "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." How do you do this? By confessing sin as soon as you realize you've committed one, keep his commandments--for though we are not under the law, but if we love Him, we will keep them. Spend time with Him in daily devotions, confessing, asking forgiveness for those sins you may not remember or are not aware of, reading and studying His Word, praying, even singing hymns. In everything you do, magnify His name, and be a witness in word, action, and influence for Jesus to everyone you come in contact with.

Isaiah 14, starting at verse 9-17. He says, I WILL 5 times.

He coveted Gods Throne as Lucifer. He's a created angel. He is not a god. His name was changed to Satan.

Jesus defeated him at the cross, completely.

Oh as i rejoice over this gray and cold day, in the rain. I can put some wood in the oven and get heat. I read all the anointed's thoughts and notes, and pray for u all. And can state that the heart is bubbling over with the Lord's comfort and His heart for reconciliation, for all of us. John 17.

Far away from other people's noise and unsaved thoughts, i can seek Jesus' peace among the wild animals in the forest. It's a special bird that i love to hear, he says: Where are you ,,, my dear? I'm completely put off by this bird's chirping. It's like a love song. And is it not that dear friends, all sound from all creation is a song of praise to our God? Romans 8:18-25

This bird sings louder than all the other beeps and screams in the forest. "I call it my talatrosis". It's really a Mltrost, (target thrush) unfortunately the English translation has nothing to explain to me, i can not find the correct answer in English, but when you hear this bird, it is a sure sign of spring far north in Europe.

So today while the wood is crackling in the oven, the window is up,

and the fresh air from young newly awakened pine forest penetrates into my living room, and into my lungs. And i can hear this lovely bird chirping from the big forest. The river flows below and no one else sounds this day. Where i can find my self and lift myself up to God in the certainty of victory that He one day, (and He is coming soon).

Will put everything in order for us. Psalms 55:23 Through Jesus Christ we will always find a way out. He Is Immutable! As we seek our Heavenly Homes, 2 Timothy4:18 i will find such peace as here today. Without pain and heavy body. Only rest in the Lord, in the Lord, and all things are done for Him who is Worthy. And this i get to be a part of, because to take my eyes off Jesus i do not. I will always raise His Name if the opportunity is there.

I will never be ashamed of Jesus and all that He has done for all of us, Amen. Stay blessed in Jesus name, love u in Christ.

Hi everyone, i see the English / American spelling as a capital letter as a capital I and Gods in god as a small one. This constantly confuses me. But i'm a little patient with myself to understand. So i have to constantly change I to small i : p. And i can imagine you are not thinking about it. But even with Heaven and the Angels has a big letter for me.

Dear, "Janice E Hammons", in peace, it is always good for a woman not to "show up", if she does not have a man with her then of course. Man and woman are God's image of humanity. But you probably know that. Remember what Jesus says I send you out: Matthew 10:16. Our dear brother Paul had good thoughts about this. U can go in the search box here on the web and find all the answers you want, i can give you a word who says in 1 Peter 3:7. Clothes mean nothing but decency for God's Glory means everything.

We are all alike when we put on the garment of Jesus, which is in the gifts of the Spirit. 1 Corontihans 13

God bless u and yours in Jesus Name, love u in Christ always.

For what it may be worth:

Consider what Luke tells Theophilus - these things are surely believed among us. Luke claims:

The Apostles way was to travel in person; important messages required multiple witnesses in person.

Jesus had taught them to travel in pairs. Phillip was an exception when he traveled with an angel.

Israelite Christians would never dream of entering the house of a Gentile; much less, eat meat there.

Jesus told Ananias Paul was a chosen vessel who would suffer many things (not from writing letters).

Jesus specifically told Paul to go speak to people in person.

    Luke was Paul's traveling companion.

Paul's custom was to speak to people in synagogues and marketplaces (he was long-winded).

Luke serves as Paul's biographer - he never tells us that Paul engaged in letter writing.

In fact, Paul proposed visiting the churches again in person to see how they were doing.

When the Jews from Asia recognized Paul at the Temple, they made no mention of any letters.

Neither the Jews from Jerusalem or Asia made mention of any letters before Felix, Festus, or Agrippa.

When they arrived, Paul summoned the Jews; they had not received any letter about any heretical epistles.

Hi Dgjot. I believe that James 2:14-17 is given essentially to those in the family of God. Also 1 John 3:17. Our care & concern must first be to those 'within', as also in Acts 2:44,45 (to all, according to each one's need).

But should "Christian charity" be confined to those in the faith? We can think of the parable of the Good Samaritan ( Luke 10:30-36). A certain lawyer came to Jesus enquiring about attaining eternal life. Jesus asked him of what the Law required. He quoted correctly, but then asked, 'who is this neighbour that I'm supposed to love'? And Jesus' parable gave him the answer.

Yes, we must care for our own house first, whether one's earthly or spiritual family. But that love in our hearts must be demonstrated to others in need, maybe I should say, in real need; for there are many that wilfully misuse what they have & so find themselves in poverty. Yet, many others are genuinely in financial trouble, & we might be able to provide either some money, food or goods to help them out. I don't look at the 'Christ deniers' spirit when giving help to others, rather, whether there is a real need there - and usually God's Spirit instructs & prompts me to give or not. And you can give to them, in the Name of Jesus the Lord, that the receiver might know that this small gift is directed by Him through you, His servant.

But I agree with you, if you know of people or organizations that promote ungodliness & are destroyers of people's lives or country, then your gifts are better served to those who are in genuine need & their appreciation for your help & quick chat with them, will be a blessing to you both.

The reason I asked if you feel you have faith is because Romans 5:1 says being justified by faith we have peace with God. Your description of your life doesn't come across as peaceful. A complete belief and trust in God sets the mind at one with God to believe the things spoken in his word. Some modern thoughts limit faith to just faith in the shed blood for the forgiveness of sins, without taking to mind 2 Thess. 2:13 "....because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:" It is hard for me to relate to the statement that you are always questioning God. Where are you coming from to think yourself or any person would be wiser than God. A key element to faith is patience and waiting. If we become impatient we can't see God's work fulfilled in us or others. If we were at Jesus trial we would have thought that was an injustice (after all he was perfect), but Jesus told them that this your hour and the power of darkness, but by waiting we can see God's plan better on Easter morning. This was God's hour and the power of light!!! The guards fell down as dead men when the angels descended and rolled the sealed stone away and sat on it!! They thought they had made the tomb "as sure as the could". Please take the time and just absorb Hebrews 11.

Hi Richard. The word 'holy' in Greek is 'hagios'. And this means, 'holy, sacred, set apart'. When the word is used for those who have been saved, born again by the Spirit of God, it means that the Spirit immediately causes the believer to be marked & set apart from anything not of God & also belonging to Him alone. But can the believer just rest in that wonderful fact & then remain stagnant, careless or lethargic in his life from God? The one in whom the Spirit of God resides can never remain in such a sad state - the indwelling Lord will not permit it.

When we see important Scriptures as you shared, as in 1 Peter 1:14-16, "As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy", we see a couple of things. Once our lives were lived according to our own desires & dictates from the world. Peter instructs that all that is now past because God has "called you", or, God has chosen you to receive salvation & eternal life. And if God has called & He is Holy, then our new lives lived in the Spirit will be according to the dictates of His Spirit. And He says 'don't fashion yourself to the world but to the One Who has redeemed you'. If we subject ourselves to Him, then He will direct our lives to live in a manner that is pleasing to Him. Are we then freed from sinning? If so, then we must also be free of this sinful flesh & free from the struggles of this flesh with the spirit. Since we're never promised that in this life, striving for holiness will always be the quest of the spiritual person, desiring to please the Lord Who ransomed him & be circumspect in every area of life.

Some might give up & say that this is impossible to achieve. We need to keep the Lord always in view, & 'run with patience the race that is set before us' ( Hebrews 12:1,2). The road ahead won't be smooth, but finish we must.

I mean no disrepect whatsoever through my response.

In simplicity, I believe, this site is to focus on the Bible, on Jesus, on our Father, the Lord. Not to spend our time focusing on the rubbish of other religions. As Christians we do not tear apart others to bring them to the Lord but rather we provide sound doctrine and love to welcome them to truth.

I understand your process though that is not the way I would choose, personally, to spend my time and energy. My focus would be sharing the word of the Lord with others and providing encouragement and emulation of our Father.

Christians, here, in this forum are not studying those other books. Those people aren't, here.

Ever hear the Hebrew Israelites standing on the corners yelling at and harassing others? Calling women whores and cursing at all passing by. This is not what Jesus taught us. Not at all. This is not who Jesus was, is or ever will be.

What did HE spend his time doing? How did He reach the gentiles or worshippers of "others." Let us ponder that.
  • Ty - In Reply - 3 years ago
Yes, absolutely. In the USA you have the freedom to choose any religion. You have the freedom to openly worship. You have the freedom to read the KJV, NIV or any other version of The Bible as YOU choose.

You have the freedom to walk down the street praising the God or deity of your choice.

Though, the only TRUE freedom, is the freedom of Jesus Christ, our Father and Savior. He is THE Prince of Peace!
  • Ty - In Reply on James 2 - 3 years ago
    This is easy for me.

Jesus instructed us to love thy neighbor as thyself. Jesus came not for the saved but for the lost, the gentiles.

Jesus was looked down upon when he invited gentiles to eat at the table with the others.

Think of the parable of the lost sheep.

    Many examples in the Bible.

If we ONLY help the saved, what work are we actually doing? Do we just leave the unsaved in the dark? No.

Through charity and love we help many. Through charitable works we show love and we show the character of Jesus to others. We show and instill hope. That love, often, is what brings gentiles, unbelievers, sinners TO the Lord. Do all Christians not sin just as those you spoke of? Yes, we do. All of us. Therefore, should Jesus set us aside and only focus on those very few who (for the sake of conversation) do not sin?

I don't think it works that way. How was I saved? Why was I saved when I was once a "king" of the gentiles? Why was I helped?

As followers of Christ we should emulate our Father. This does not mean to become unequally yoked with others but rather to be in the midst of them and to provide light. We need preachers and we need pastors. Two different approaches or missions yet sharing the same mission.

Please forgive me for not including reference to scripture but this question seems rather simple and straightforward. I am sure others will provide specific scripture for reference.

I will help a homeless "crackhead" on the street just as fast as I will help a brother or sister in my church. But that is what God has laid within my heart.

And that is... love, charity, hope and peace.

    God bless!

    Hi Debra.

The scripture doesn't give us a time table of Jobs suffering.

But here James reference him, so the book of Job is not a parable! The story of Job as I'm sure you know was as real as you and I.

James 5:11 (KJV) Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

    God bless.

I am reminded that God has an interesting way of turning a situation like yours around. God gives the best wake up calls. Remember this kill them all with kindness. A soft answer turns away wrath. Choose today who you will serve whether the gods at your forefathers across the river or the gods of today but as for me and my house we will serve the lord God in heaven. A impossible situation in your eyes it might be and there are times like any that our faith is tested. I'm here for you and all of the people on here. We stand in agreement. God will make a way. When you see it believe it and you shall receive it just like the parting of the Red Sea. So shall it be. In Jesus Name Amen
