  • Paul on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
    Joshua,
There's more to accepting the payment for our sins; you have to turn from sin and ask God to deliver you from the desire for sin and He will give you the Holy Ghost which enables you to live holy everyday.
  • Glen on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
Uhhhh yes it does...Jesus himself said to repent and be baptized everyone of you for the remission of you sins.
  • Toby on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
Really Vicky go to a Pentecostal Church. That is what you got out of the verse? God is only one, that is what you think. The Father son and the Holy Spirit sounds as though there are three to me. Three distinct personalities that form the Godhead. I will agree that you should read your Bible. Maybe we all need to get back to what the word says and not what we think that it says.
  • Joshua D on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
Verse 21 says "And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." It doesn't say whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, and be baptized, and attend an Apostolic Pentecostal Church. If you read the entire New Testament it doesn't even say you HAVE to be baptized to go to heaven. There are verses that speak of baptism as being an important step of faith, but not a requirement for heaven. The man on the cross with Jesus was told by Jesus himself that he would be with him in Heaven, and he was never baptized or attended an Apostolic Pentecostal Church. While baptism is important to the Christian life, and attending a correct bible preaching church is what God wants for our life (not a denomination preference, but a right church) the ONLY key to salvation and heaven is accepting Jesus' payment for our sins. Read John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10 and Romans 13, and none specify anything other than belief in Jesus as our savior. Baptism, church membership and daily bible reading and prayer are vitally important parts of Christian life, but the only key to heaven is Jesus himself.
  • Sis Vicky on Acts 2:38 - 14 years ago
Jesus, the name above all names! You must be baptized in the name of Jesus. God is one, not 3. Be baptized in his name and get filled with the Holy Ghost! Worship in Spirit & in truth. Read your ENTIRE bible and go to an Apostolic Pentecostal Church.
  • Angeline jones on Acts 2:38 - 14 years ago
this was the command that peter was given

  • Ann on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
I know that this chapter gives to mankind the only formula to be born again. What must we do? Act 2 verse 38 tells us. Please obey it.
  • APOSTOLIC FOR LIFE!! on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
Jesus is the visibilty of Gods personality. If Jesus is not God then he(Jesus)is the greatest imposter to ever walk the face of the earth. John 12:42 Jesus cried and said he that believeth on me believeth not on me but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth the one that seen me!!
The oneness of God is air tight you better get it right before Jesus comes!!!
  • Skipper on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
Yes the name of my God is Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name under heaven given among men where by we must be saved. Please understand that we can not seperate God from His Word nor His word from Him(God). God was manafest in the flesh..God came unto His own..all things where created by Him (God) and for Him (God)..Jesus Christ. If the Holy Ghost is not god then Jesus is not the Son of God...the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary...If the Holy Ghost is not God..Then is the Holy Spirit God..? Yes..yes..yes..yes.."God" is all in all. There is no other God but "One". Jesus is that name for us today that speak the English Language..One God not three.

The new name of our Heavenly Father is Jesus Christ. In the old testament our Heavenly Father has many names. The following names are Yah-weh, Jehova, Holy God, Jealous God, Father God, I am who I am. To prove that the new name of our Heavenly Father is the name Jesus Christ through the prophesy of the following prophets : Isaiah 62:2 - shall be called by a new name, Zechariah 14:9 - in that day shall there be one Lord and his name one. In Malachi 1 : 11- my name shall be great among the Gentile nations and one is the Philippines who believed to the living God, the name Jesus Christ was so great to all the Gentile nations who believed God. This name also in the time of Apostle Paul the name Jesus Christ is so great in Acts 19:17. Then in Rev. 3:12 - says the I will write upon him the name of my God, and my new name. To those who opposed / argued that the new name of our Heavenly Father is Jesus Christ. Then, they will give the new name of our Heavenly Father ? or what is his name ? The word Father is not a proper name or a given name. The word Jesus Christ is a proper name but the word Father is a common name or common noun. So the name name Jesus Christ is the new name of our Heavenly Father. To those who against the name of the new name of our Heavenly Father must have to write or reveal the name of their Heavenly Father also?. In Rev. 2:17 - a new name was given and only those who received his name knows him. Jesus Christ is the new name of our Heavenly Father.

Correction for anonymous comment.... FATHER (GOD-YHWH) is same with his SON (Jesus Christ) They are both God, but Jesus is NOT the Almighty God nor the Father is the SON whom manifested in flesh... In ( Prov. 8:22-31)(Gen.1:26), We will see that there are TWO CREATOR mentioned ... And in Jn1:1-3 (( In the beginning was the Word(wisdom/SON), and the Word(Wisdom/SON) was with God(FATHER-YHWH), and the Word(Wisdom/SON) was God.The same was in the beginning with God. All things(ref. PROV.8:22-31) were made by him(FATHER); and without him(Wisdom/SON) was not any thing made that was made.)))) If you have question you can fallow us at THE OLD PATH OR ANG DATING DAAN...See you!!!!

I love the word of God. Luke 24:47-49 and Acts 2:38 & 39 are one and the same, agree even with Mat 28:19 and 20. Jesus (Iesus)is the English translation for(YHWH)God has became our salvation or (YHWH)God salvation & Emmanual(Immanuel) means With us is God(YHWH). What has that to do with anything ? God's word created the heavens and the earth and all things there in (Gen). In John we see: In the beginning was the word and the word was with God(YHWH) and the word was God(YHWH)...and the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father)..Looking at Jesus in the correct light you see God(YHWH)of the old covenant & the new covenant. For God(YHWH) was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. God(YHWH) has no blood, he is a spirit..it takes the shedding of blood for the remission of sin..( Heb 10:5).. When he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:..

Pam's, the word Christ cannot be brought to any human being. Even if we used our common thought of understanding w/out basing the bible our God created the human being and then be brought to his creature? You will never read even one verses in the new testament that Christ is the son of Mary but so many verses you will read that Christ is the son of God. There are verses in the bible to remind us for what is God is. Read Num. 23:19, Hosea !!:9, Isaiah 43:10, Malachi 3:6, Jh. 3:6, 4:23&24, Luk. 24:39, 1Tim. 1:17. These verses are the characteristics of our God to believe, so that the Holy Spirit will enlighten us in our study. In 1Cor. 1:24, Christ is the power & wisdom of God. No human being will brought power & wisdom. In Mat. 1:21 Mary's bring forth a son name Jesus and not the name Christ because this name as I said is the power & wisdom of God. The name Jesus who of God is made unto refer to the verses, 1Cor. 1:30 & Acts 2:36. For easier understanding to our worldly knowledge the name Peter, was brought to a lady. Then, Peter became a Lawyer, so Peter be called Attorney, Peter. The word Attorney, was not brought to a lady. This is his knowledge/title & power to counsel. This wwrd Attorney is the same to the word Christ was not brought to a lady. read Mat. 1:16. Additional information the New Name of our Heavenly Father is the name Jesus Christ. In the old testament there are so many names of our God. Ex. Jealous God, I who am I, Holy God, Jehovah, Yahwee.

If my Salvation was found in Acts 2, I would be in a mess. We as gentiles (non-Jews) had no access to God until the nation of Israel was broken off because of unbelief. Israel was Gods chosen people hince him sending his disiples but unto the jews only, hince Jesus Christ when asked stated that he was sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. There was no salvation by Grace in Acts 2. They were still observing the Law, where is your temple to sacrifice? I thank God I am made the righteousness of God by the simply believing & recieving the gift of Gods grace its not dependant (my salvation)upon what I do, but what he did. My relationship might change based on my works, but never my position as a son of God.

Thank you, Lisa that is very good teaching on the only key out of this wicked and adulterous generation. Obey Acts 2:38,and be saved and read 10:41-48,19:1-6 last of all look at the order Jesus told Peter in Matt.16:18-19 the key was used for the first time on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:1-4. God bless you Lisa F.P.C !!

if we should go back to 1cor.2 vs 7-8 we will see where the scripture's point us to one GOD ONE CREATURE OF HEAVEN AND EARTH,jesus christ who is our lord of glory
  • Pam on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
Your insight is helpful Gary. This is what I love about this site. We have the greatest theology to hit the earth, and people contribute by the gospel through their intellectualy and heartfelt sharing. Christ as God and as human is hard for lots of people to accept. Is Jesus God's offspring or incarnate..off spring being the same as Father. Can you proide thoughts on this.

who are they in the passage, how consistent were they,do we have committed people like them today?
  • Tim Dever on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
The whole plan of salvation rest in the 2nd chapter of Acts. There is no other place in the book that contains the plan of salvation for the New Testament church
  • Tim Dever on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
There is so much to let us know God and Jesus are one. when Jesus was praying to the Father it was the flesh praying to the Spirit that dwelt in that flesh
  • Pam on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
God is great almighty and holy beyond our comprehension , then there is the state of humanity, God's son , is God, (and we need to be more considerate of father and child relationships) and by God's son we come to know Gods purpus for us, we understand who and what we are, we gain salvation and forgiveness, and unconditional love . We learn that we are God's children. But we are not God. Only God's son is God...made man. And through Him, the Holy spirit ., God's Holy spirit will abide in man.
  • Gary B. on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
Regarding three in one consider this. I have children making me a father. I had parents making me a son. In 1981 I was filled with the Holy Ghost. I am still just one person. Matthew 28 says to go forth baptizing in the NAME of - What is the NAME of?If you sell me something, not knowing who I am, and I sign a check Father, will you accept it? Likewise Son or Holy Ghost, are you going to accept that check? Of course not. You want my NAME on the check. In Acts 4:12 it says there is no other NAME whereby we must be saved.
  • Gary H on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
    Jason S

Correct. It is blaspheme and not denial of the Holy Ghost for the unforgivable sin. It is the comforter left for us and once visited upon/saved....we cannot be forgiven speaking ill of.

    Thank You for the correction.
  • Jason Simmons on Acts 2 - 14 years ago
    To Gary,
Three in one is hard for my mind to comprehend, but then again it didn't take comprehension and understanding for me to know the Lord
It took an open, believing, trusting, heart towards his love
Verse 34 David himself said,"The Lord said to my Lord,
    Just a few thinking questions
is Davids Lord talking to himself?
is Davids Lord talking to the Lord?
Is the Father talking to the Son?
Who was Jesus praying to in the Garden?

    To Billy,
Absent from the body is to be present with Christ
You can't explain that one away or can you.

    To Gary H,
Blaspheme against the Holy Ghost is unforgivable
    Blaspheme is to disrespect
    Mark 3:29-30
These scribes did not deny the Holy Spirit they said Jesus had an unclean spirit

We should study carefully and get wisdom and understanding from God, not our own

    Hope to help, not hurt

Lisa I appreciate your thoughts and thank you for posting. I am happy to respond befor eI read the bible verses you mentioned and the other posts.
  • Billy on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
Acts 2:34 states that David had not ascended into heaven. I wonder why so many believe that the faithful men of old have gone to heaven, and even those that die today and are supposedly saved, they are claimed to be gone to heaven.

Doesn't Jesus himself say at John 5;28, 29, ALL in the memorials tombs, that is in God's memory, will be resurrected.

That resurrection will included faithful men of old, and millions and millions of others that have died all the way back to the first man to die, Abel.

Since the Christian system was established thru and by Christ Jesus, there have been called and chosen ones who will be resurrected to heavenly life to become associate kings and priests, Rev 5:10, which will make up the heavenly kingdom Jesus taught us to pray for and the doing of God's will on earth.
  • Gary H on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
Great comments all. Would like to add; the one unforgivable sin is to deny the Holy Ghost. Since all are one, as stated here, denying the Holy Ghost is the denial of God and Christ the Lord.
  • Sheneil on Acts 2:28 - 15 years ago
it's an up lifting verse that make you believe again and also make you keep hope alive.I had given up on God But now I see that he just brings everyone throug their a test and if were strong we will see the great rewards of things.
  • Gary on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
I DON'T BELIEVE THAT MOST PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTS 2:38. MOST DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT JESUS IS THE ONE TRUE GOD COME TO US IN THE FLESH. MOST DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT YOU MUST BE BAPTIZED IN JESUS NAME. THEY WILL SAY "WELL, MATT. 28:19 SAYS TO BAPTIZE IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST". WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST? JESUS!! ACTS 4:12 TELLS US THERE IS SALVATION IN NO OTHER NAME. IN ISAIAH WHEN TELLING ABOUT THE COMING OF JESUS AND DESCRIBING HIM AS WONDERFUL "THE EVERLASTING FATHER" - TRINITY FOLKS SEPARATE THEM - BUT THEY BOTH CAN'T BE THE EVERLASTING FATHER. IF GOD HAD COME TO EARTH AS GOD - THEY WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE HIM AS HE IS A SPIRIT!!
