I find this hour of temptation is when the devil and his army is thrown down to earth after the battle with Michael. I agree, that it doesn't mean the tribulation, it says more that we are shielded from it, most likely because we are sealed and because we have studied the word enough and knows our Fathers voice enough to get through it. So instead of worrying about it, do what we all are suppose to be doing, stay close to God, make Him #1 in your life above all else.

Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

The healthy adult mind places significant value on the discipline which is required for a healthy, wholesome, and functional lifestyle. The common person tends to reject reproach, rebuking, and chastisement, but given the option to reject these is conducive of dysfunctional patterns of behavior. We do not naturally prefer discipline; it is acquired ability and an adult mentality that allow us to understand the long-term effects of humiliation in respect to God's extended plans and designs.

    If anyone hears my voice and opens the door and I will come in and eat with him and he with me;
This meant; Jesus is available anytime, so whoever who try to seek him, can find him possibly and he'll share his grace with him.
  • Karen Williamson on Revelation 3:10 - 11 years ago
If it refers to the end time scenario, then perhaps it means the church before the Great tribulation will be raptured before the temptation that comes to the whole world happens. The one temptation or trial that comes to mind is the temptation to take the mark of the beast. It will be mandatory evidently for every person alive at the time.

Re: Rev, 3:16, personal experience, I was made to feel unworthy to exist or breath the air that I do from my parents. I understand what loathing is, God saying He loathes those lukewarm, I also found I could do nothing in life, for if you never believe in something and have faith in it 100 percent, you really are lukewarm and can do nothing. For me, it's been a long road by Godsgrace to see that if I don't understand his worth for me, I really am spat out and can do nothing for Him, me, or anyone else.

The letters to the churches are letters and warnings to Christians that some have fallen short, luke warm, not living every day as a to where God would have them.
Even though these are letters to churches back then I beleive that today we have Christians that their characteristics as christians fall into the same groups and the results are the same.

Rev3:19 speaks to me, ever since I became born again I have litteraly seen the Holy Spirit remove things from my life I have always struggled with. My greatest battle, which I pray about so often is that of desires of the flesh. I have left all materialistic desires, I'm devoted to winning souls, I follow the steps of Christ (being kind, meek, gentle, forgiving). But I just can never understand why my mind defeats me in that area, I have never sought counsel at my church because of the obvious fear to talk abou this matter.

Hello Michael, (Rev.3:16) In response to your ? I have to ask....Have you a born again believer? If so According to ( Luke 10:19) You have the power of God that's been given to you to overcome the temptations of everyday life; not that you're perfect, but you now by the Holy Spirit you have access to dumas power of God working for you. I think a great help would be to also stay in the word of God for strength daily. Avoid anything that you know is not pleasing to God wherever you may be. You are never alone He is always with you. Check out this scripture ( I Corinthians 15:33-34) as a reminder of who you are in Christ and that you represent him. YOU are a light in the workplace of darkness, let others be drawn to your light, don't be vacuumed into the negative! AMEN?

    fREE mORAL AGENCY

Man's life is in God. This means that man can't move and think without God. But since God gives him the power to decide how this will be enacted, God holds him responsible for what he does.

Free moral agency is for a being, whether an angel or man, to decide whether to use for good or evil what God sustains him to do. That is, I can't move my finger or eyes without God enabling me to do so. But God lets me decide whether to use my finger or eyes for good or bad. Then, he punishes or rewards me accordingly.

That's why animals are not held responsible for good or bad actions. They do not have the will power to make decisions.

Yes, God sustains and provides for all human functions. Even a little sparrow can't fall to the ground without God. But some men make the choice to kill the sparrow for evil purposes. And for that he is held responsible. That is, it is man's choice, not God's.

So to sustain something is one thing. It is necessary for the thing to exist and function. This shows God's goodness and love. And for this, God holds us responsible.

To put it plainly, I can't make a decision without God enabling me to do so. But God holds me responsible for the decision I make.

Let us make the choice to follow Jesus. BEHOLD I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK.

Sorry Pastor Enang, Revelation chapters 2 and 3 are talking to churches, not lost people. Christ is on the outside of this church desiring fellowship with the saints at Laodicea.

Hey Grant, Revelation 3:14 does not say Jesus is the creation it says "the beginning of the creation of God;" Read John 8:58 where Jesus declares "Before Abraham was I AM. That term in the Greek is ego ami. It mean I am now, I have always been, and I will always be. Christ is declaring His deity. This also found in John 18:5. Look what happened in verse 6 when Christ declared His deity. Read the whole book!
  • Pastor Enang on Revelation 3 - 11 years ago
Rev.3:20 it refers to Christ knocking at our heart and whosoever will decisively repent and accept Him unto himself will recieve unto himself all his ac***ulated desires and will overcome all life challenges he had faced.
  • George Santos on Revelation 3:8 - 11 years ago
The door itself is our Lord JESUS CHRIST and HE open it for us so that we can come to HIM. How we can come to HIM? To repent in our iniquities and read, study, learn and practice it in our daily life and no one can be separated us to our Lord Jesus Christ if we keep His words in us and even we have a little strength our Lord will save us from the devils works because we keep His mighty name in our hearts. Amen
  • RaptureMan on Revelation 3 - 11 years ago
Chapter 3 of Revelation is the last time you hear about the church ( Body of Christ ) mentioned. It says that the Church of Philadelphia will be kept from the hour of temptation that shall come upon the whole earth. Is that temptation the worship and mark of the antichrist? If it is then That would lead me to believe that the Rapture of the Church will take place prior to the Great tribulation, and the wrath of God being poured out on the earth.
  • Carolyn Oneal on Revelation 3:10 - 11 years ago
I think that Christ will be with us during tribulation which will come upon the WHOLE world I feel we will go through it, and Jesus will be with us . The sheep will follow him and hear his voice and He will take them through it and in it even through the death of saints if necessary to be used to separate the sheep from the goats
  • Daniel Ngeta on Revelation 3:20 - 11 years ago
God is always looking for those who are ready to move with him. Now its optional for human kind 2 accept or reject Him in there hearts. Those who accept Him always obtain FAVOUR from God "I'll dine with him.
  • Grant on Revelation 3:14 - 11 years ago
Rev 3:14 agrees with Col 1:15. Both say that Jesus is a creation. Also, Jesus was the first born from the dead to live forever. Rev 1:18, Rom 5:6, 1Peter 3:18 and Heb 2:9. Even God said it was Jesus who died, not God. Trinitarians, read from your own bible these verses and learn the truth.

  • Timothy Wayne George on Revelation 3:7 - 12 years ago
There are two churches, of the seven that escaped rebuke by the Lord: Smyrna, and Philadelphia. Jesus has proclaimed that He alone has the Key of David to the Kingdom, and He will open to those who are faithful until the end. This gospel must be published in all nations, then the end will come. He will shut the door, and then the judgments shall come upon all those that dwell on the Earth. Jesus said behold I come quickly, hold fast what thou has, and see that no man will steal thy crown. Ye shall be our crown of rejoicing when we see Jesus. Watch and pray for you know not what hour the Lord shall come.
  • Insight 777 on Revelation 3 - 12 years ago
Revelation was written by a Christian for the warning and salvation of Christians. Jesus Christ is ‘Abraham’s Seed’. Christians that believe in God and Jesus, are “of Abraham’s Seed”. Moses wrote about and looked to Jesus. When Jews reject Jesus, they reject Moses, they also reject Abraham and they reject God who sent Him. The Pharisees are the ones that practiced the Talmudic teachings, which Christ condemned. Jesus Christ followed the Law of Moses; Jews follow the Talmud. Read Isaiah 1:2-4 ... God says Israel is a sinful nation, they are corrupters and a seed of evildoers. God is angry with Israel for rebelling against him and rejecting Jesus Christ. Repent and be saved.

Revelations is talking about God’s people the Jews not you gentiles. It’s talking about the real Jews that are going through hell on earth. Not those Edomites in Israel those fake Jews. Revelation 3:9, behold I will make them of the synagogues of Satan which say they are Jews and are not. Behold I will make them to come and worship before thy feet.
  • Bill on Revelation 3:10 - 12 years ago
I believe Revelation 3:10 refers to some event that happened shortly after this was written. I would really like to know what that might have been.
