    Maigyn's comment about verse 18 on 5/23/2010, 12:43pm...

Because when religions use Jehovah's name as a title, it smudges the name and things appear that a certain sect is the truth when in actuality, it a cult.

All religious sects are cults of sorts. Its the occult that you dont want to be associated with. And we all know that leaders name to be Satan!

I could say, Hey have you tried one of those burgers? And you relpied one of what burgers! And I answered you know one of THOSE burgers. you would not have a clue as to what I was referring to. A GOOD burger doesnt explain it, or a HOT burger doesnt explain it, or a TANGY burger doesnt either. Just exactly which burger am I talking about? Without a specific name it means nothing significant. the Bible says Gods name will be known, and it says there will be witnesses of him. Of who! God? Jesus said there is only one God one Jehovah. So whoever those witnesses may turn out to be, they will be witnesses of Jehovah. And they come from all tongues nations and religious sects or cults.

Jesus is also known for his parables. That way he could explain things that everyone (except the haughty proud ones) could understand by his illustrations.
I am surely no equal to Jesus. He was perfect and is my exemplar. I try to follow his teaching as well as any imperfect human can. With that let me use this little scenerio to illustrate a point.
I have hot water heating where I live. And it doesnt cost me a thing.
However I see an ad for a room heater. One that heats a room comfortably with radiant heat (not forced heated air)It is so safe , a person can leave papers on it without combusting. Your pet can lay on top of it when it is running at the highest temp and not get one hair singed. It is so safe you can leave it unattended. The most alluring feature is that it cuts heating costs sometimes up to 50%. With just a minor cost in electricity used.
So if I buy this for a minimal cost, will it benefit me as it advertises? Well considering the fact that it will give me comfortable safe heat at a minimal increase in my electrical bill, maybe.
Would'nt it be foolish though. Why invest in all the technology when it doesnt fully accomplish (for me) what it advertises. Comfortable safe heat and mainly "Savings!"
By sound reasoning I see that I will not gain any benefit.
You read the scenerio andprobably thought," How stupid could one person be. To even consider the thought that they would benefit."
That is the whole point of this. That you recognize stupidity.
By reasoning with the fact that," I do not have to pay for heat of any source". Also not allowing that fact to be clouded out by (someone elses suggestion)the ads promotion, I do not make a foolish purchase.

In Bible language, “stupid ones” refers, not to those who lack intelligence, but to those who ignore the wise counsel from God’s Word.
This very scripture ( Ps 83:18), taken from the earliest publication of King James (1611) was translated from the actual scriptures containing Gods true name,"JEHOVAH".
There are those who refuse to except this name because of lack of knowledge or blind faith from following the unfounded teaching of (stupid ones) others.
We should take in consideration what the Bible teaches us “He that is walking with wise persons will become wise, but he that is having dealings with the stupid ones will fare badly.”— PROVERBS 13:20.

That Great name JEHOVAH will endure for all eternity. All the nations will have to know that God's name is JEHOVAH.( Ezekiel 38:23)His name will be sanctified, when He Himself makes it manifest.

Is nice to find the name of God in 83:18 in this Bible.
  • Stephen Ernest on Psalms 83 - 14 years ago
No GOD ever known in history claims to be the founder of the creation & galaxies around us except Jehovah God. No one can claim to be a true worshiper by denying this Divine name. Original records prove this name appears over 7000 times in the Bible OT + NT. Then why have they replaced the name with title 'LORD' in contravention of Rev. 22:19)? In India, non Catholic Churches & those using the vernacular OV Bibles are familiar with this name & make an honorable use of the name Yehovah pita/parmeshwar, quite extensively in their praise & worship, bringing out the exact essence of the vale of our Divine Creator's name as Jesus Christ & the prophets expressed. So why this hue & cry in accepting the fact. Who raised Jesus Christ from death? Further Jehovah appointed Jesus Christ as the Messainic King & Mighty before whom all knees should bend. ( Isa 9:6,7). It is not right to communicate only with your father & not mother or vice versa. So open your heart in true reverence & praise our Lord Jesus Christ as well as sanctify our Father's name (Jehovah God) Matt.6:9.
  • Laura on Psalms 83 - 14 years ago
Psalms 83:18 does say that Gods name is Jehovah. Is it possible the reason why so many other Christian religions have such hatred for Jehovah's witnesses is because by using his name as their title people feel as if what they have learned is not how god had intended it to be. If we are all children of Jehovah and Christians under his son Jesus Christ , shouldn't we all peacefully get along. God forgives us of our sins, but when we are baptized we are making a choice to dedicate our lives to the one almighty.
Every person has a surname and by saying just god is like calling john doe just doe ... sure he will know it is him, but if you are really close to him you will call him John. His family would not call him by his last name. I am not a practicing witness but as the times show more unrest and I turn to Jehovah for answers he is revealing to me his true message.
I have visited different churches and listened to the word, but it baffles me to think that some may only be partially relying on Jehovah to guide them and maybe that is why when they use Gods name they only go by God. I do not wish to accuse anyone of blasphemy, but only to rely on him who sent his only begotten son to die for our sins. We are all lost until we find our light from Jehovah and as I rely on him he reveals to me the truth. When the light of God is truly upon you , sin should not enter your life. Satan will always be knocking at your door but use Gods name as a tower and he will protect you. By wanting money and possessions is saying that what Satan has to offer in his system of things is better then what Jehovah has to offer in his kingdom. I am not proclaiming anything as being a true religion just interpreting the word how I understand.

Re: the comment that the name Jehovah will be tied in with a certain religion. Throughout the Bible God's name has been tied in with his actions.
  • Zbee1 on Psalms 83 - 14 years ago
Regarding Jehovah's witness belief in God: Scripture tells us that even the devils believe in God and they tremble. Yet they don't do what He says. They don't repent. Jesus is God. Jesus is not a created being.
  • Peter on Psalms 83 - 14 years ago
Anyone who thinks removing Gods name Jehovah from the bible is a non issue or isnt important must reconsider that thought since it does take away a bit of trying to have a close personal relationship with him and is a bit impersonal. like calling a close friend person, since the word God is only a title. Not to mention the fact that diluting the bible is a sin itself that has a penalty of everlasting death as stated in revelation 22:19. So i wouldnt wanna be that guy. In my opinion they took the name out to support the trinity doctrine, since originally his name was in the bible over seven thousand times and would make a three in one God teaching a bit hard to swallow. It actually wasnt taught until the 3rd century, the way i understand it anyway.

I really appreciate this site. Someone at work said something that really bothered me. She said "Those Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in God". I commented that "I know for a fact that they do believe in God". She said, "Well, maybe they do, but not the same God as everyone else." Work was not the place for that discussion, but my question is "What God does she believe in?" And I can almost guarantee she doesn't even know her God has a name and it happens to be JEHOVAH. The same one that the Jehovah's Witnesses believe in.
  • Xqi on Psalms 83 - 14 years ago
The newer king James versions have removed Gods NAME from the ENTIRE bible check it out some time. The bible makes it clear that The one and only TRUE God has a specific name. The bible also makes it VERRY clear that there are more than just one god,(Such as the god of the earth -which refers to satan.) Thats why you have to call on Jehovahs name specifically, in prayer. Remember that people pray to False gods all the time, through-out history. God much like Judge(Judy), DR.(Smith), Lord(Vanderbilt), and Captain(Stubeing), are all titles. A Name is specific to an individual and nothing else that ever has or ever will exist has the only TRUE Gods NAME. "Jehovah" ((or however its pronounced in Hebrew or Aramaic,,The languages that the bible was originally written in))
  • Cyntha Kolb on Psalms 83:18 - 14 years ago
I never knew GOD's name was Jehovah or YHWH! I have been to baptist church, a pentecostal church. Been to churches that believe God Jesus and the Holy spirit are one and I've been to churches that believe the opposite. I'm finding now that there are missing books to the bible and I am confused!

  • Lina Everett on Psalms 83:18 - 14 years ago
I know u all wants Jehovah to continue to be in the bible but God is still God a he still the most high The word God stands alone and the word God is the most Power of all... Jehovah is still God's name and once again God is God. never dispute over God's word or name. because the word God stands alone the word God is so powerful
  • Jeffray on Psalms 83 - 14 years ago
Since the scripture tells us that the bible was written by holy men as they were led by the Holy Spirit; then why can't we believe that God wrote just what he wanted no more and no less. Remember what the scripture says further, add nothing to and take nothing from so as to not endanger your name being taken out of the book of life.
  • Brian on Psalms 83:18 - 14 years ago
It has always interested me that these "scholars" remove the name, Jehovah, from their translations but fail to do so with the false gods that are also mentioned in scripture. Molech (or Moloch) comes to mind as does Rephan (Remphan). Acts 7:43 I'm glad to see it here!

I remember hearing about a woman who learned about Psalms 83:18. She had no idea that God's name was indeed Jehovah or that it was in the King James Bible at all. She was greatly angered when she brought it up with her priest and he told her that he did know all about it. But it was his reply that angered her most..."What's in a name?" he said. On this point alone she decided to leave the church and asked that her name be removed from the prayer list, etc. The priest told her he would remove it but not until she paid her overdue "tithes." So she sent him a check. She soon got a call from the priest..."I received your check but you forgot to sign it so I can't remove your name until I receive a sigend one." Her response.. "Oh, really? Well what's in a name, anyway?"
  • David on Psalms 83 - 14 years ago
I thought it to be a shame that other religions use the name of their gods regularly. For instance Muslims use Allah daily but most so called Christians do not even know the name of their GOD / JEHOVAH. Yet here it is in the Holy Bible for all to know and use.
  • Jeni Armada on Psalms 83 - 15 years ago
I appreciate that we still have the original King James VERSION available online to prove God's name IS Jehovah. It's a shame that all Bibles don't have his name in them, including the new King James Version, but that just goes to show how Satan has a hand in this. 2Co 4:4; 11:14, 15.

  • CJ on Psalms 83 - 15 years ago
It CLEARLY states here what God's name is. I agree with some of you all's comments as regards to using the name and letting others know about it "Our Great God Jehovah".
Jehovah wants us to use his name and have our prayers directed to him NOT any other gods ( Exodus 20:4-6).
As an example lets say you have been married for several years now & your spouse knows your name....and when he/she instroduces you to others wouldn't you like for them to mention your name instead of saying this is my wife/husband, you would like for your spouse to show love & respect in introducing you properly(so if you happen to run into them they can remember your name and call you by that name) " This is MY Wife/Husband ____".... hense..... "MY GOD Jehovah".
Everyone has a name and we are glad when others remember it and use it when asking for us, if GOD would not have wanted us to know his name he would not have revealed it to us.

That the Vatican has hid the name of God for too long and it is a scrilege. His name appears in the Bible more than seven thousand times.

    Good bye.

As for Maigyn's comment i guess this scripture would suffice "20 Bear in mind the word I said to YOU, A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute YOU also; if they have observed my word, they will observe YOURS also. 21 But they will do all these things against YOU on account of my name, because they do not know him that sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He that hates me hates also my Father. 24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have both seen and hated me as well as my Father. 25 But it is that the word written in their Law may be fulfilled, ‘They hated me without cause." John chapter 15

Also Matthew 5 11 “Happy are YOU when people reproach YOU and persecute YOU and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against YOU for my sake. 12 Rejoice and leap for joy, since YOUR reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to YOU.

Think about what the Bible says about the names of the One True God of Heaven and earth.

Genesis 3:13,14 - And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Isaiah 9:6 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Psalm 83:18 - That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

John 1:1,14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Luke 1:31-33 - And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Revelation 19: 13,16 - And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God....And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
