  • TR on Psalms 127 - 13 years ago
Matthew Henry's commentary on this passage is classic. He gives the true meaning of the ancient text without getting lost in the theological weeds. My the LORD give us all the spritual common sense to read the Bible in this way--and to obey it.
  • Franklin on Psalms 127 - 13 years ago
Vs #3 is prophetic relating to the punishment of Jesus, the verse gives the indication of Christ beating, but in addition "they made long their furrows", which indicates more than what the usual punishment would have been.
  • Andrew on Psalms 127 - 14 years ago
It's a psalm of praise and adoration to our King of kings, it shows how good our Lord is and His assurances to those who serve Him. I am a witness to His mighty acts by what things He has done in my life. GLORY BE GOD FOREVER AND EVER. AMEN.

  • Sharon on Psalms 127:3 - 14 years ago
To have the power of God come over you is like nothing else. Lots of times I feel God and restrain myself, afraid of what others will think. Then I feel sad I didn't respond to my Lord. When you do allow the holy spirit to fall on you it is such a refreshing feeling. Like a child on a warm summer day with no worries.

The praying of this psalm will vanish from the heart the most deeply rooted feelings of hatred, envy and malice.

  • David Gray on Psalms 127 - 14 years ago
This is one of my favourite Psalms, as it is as fresh and meaningful today as when it was written. It is a Psalm for the individual and is excellent as an introduction for the newcomer to the Psalms.
  • Kathy on Psalms 127 - 14 years ago
any thing that is done whether physical or spiritual ought to be done according to the word of the Lord, so this text is appropriate Philippians 2:13 to remind us we are not our own and that we belong to God.
  • Chris on Psalms 127 - 14 years ago

My mother passed away in 1987 from breast cancer. I lost it for awhile and eventually got involved with a very bad man who almost took my life.....looking for comfort a week after the incident in my mothers bible I found a post-it note with her handwriting that just said Psalm 138, verse 7. When I read it I wept....... God's grace and my mothers prayers still at work!
  • Jabulani Chasokela on Psalms 127 - 15 years ago
I believe it shows He is an awesome God and this scripture emphasizes worship.Worship brings the presence of God , because the Word says He inhabits the praises of His people.
  • Maged Ashraf on Psalms 127 - 15 years ago
A great Psalm. The second verse "Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me" shows that walking the path with God does not mean that no one will try to hurt you, but even if many are trying to make you fail, God guarantees with his power that they will not succeed. From our side we only have to have faith in God's fatherly love and ultimate power.
  • Nonye on Psalms 127 - 15 years ago
Acknowledging the great of God with humility
  • John on Psalms 127 - 15 years ago
To me this is one of the most powerful verses in the bible, because this is the praise that man should be doing for lord each and everyday. He gives us eyes to see, ears to hear, hands to feel with and feet to walk with. So giving him thanks should a natural thing for humans to do. Because he tells us that if we don't praise him, he will have the rocks to praise him and I do not want any rocks praising the lord me. He has been to great to me for this to happen. I want to earn my place in his kingdom by honoring his name in everything I do. He is mine and I am his.
  • Nelly on Psalms 127 - 15 years ago
The verse doesnt tell us not to work hard, it jst tells us to involve God in everything we do. sometimes we strugle soo hard to make ends meet when we could have had an easy way of making the ends meet if we could have just asked God to help us. God is a good God. He gives us what is best for us and in Him we are more than Conquerors.

Lets learn to ask for not only help but also guidance from God. He loves us soo much.
  • Dot on Psalms 127 - 15 years ago
how beautiful it is for neighbours to dwell in unity, love and peace and forgiving one another. It will be very pleasant for us to do so. May God give us the heart of forgiving as we even sinners were forgiven.
  • Brenda Robinson on Psalms 127 - 15 years ago

About 6 months ago i was going through crazy stuff and had been praying, without really getting the answer that I wanted or was expecting. One night when the enemy had unleashed a series of attacks, I cried out unto God saying Lord, why am going through this when your word says ... (qoute a scripture), in my despair I cried out and said who has turned your truth into a lie? Are you really the God that I have known, have been taught about, yet you seem so faraway, like you cannot hear me or see the crisis that I am in. To cut the long story short I cried myself to sleep and dreamt telling someone to read Psalms 138, I was showing off as if it were my own personal psalm, saying everybody loves Psalm 139 but I love 138,to tell you the truth I had never read Psalms 138. Immediately on waking up, I read the Psalm and was totally and utterly astounded. Verse 2 says "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." I mean talk about a personal reply, I had questioned Him and He replied me in gentle lovingkindness. Today my prayer for you is that as you go through stuff no matter how tough, challenging, earth shattering as it may seem, (verse 8), He shall indeed perfect all that concerns thee, in due time. i am well on my way to restoration and yes Psalms 138 has become my very personal verse.

While all of God's words are perfect, I think this scripture is one of the most perfect in the entire Holy Bible. Clearly it is my favorite.
