I would think the abomination of desolation refers to the destruction of Jerusalem, because earlier in this passage Jesus showed the desciples the temple and the buildings of it.
  • Dawny on Matthew 24:28 - 11 years ago
I agree with Martin. "Carcase" represents death. As Jesus uses the comparison of the days of Noah and Lot with his coming, it coincides with what is said in Psalm 145:20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.

salvation is not attained in the beginning at conversion.believing, repentance & water baptism is the start of that conversion. then the baptism of the Holy Ghost allows a renewing (transformation) of the mind to occur.IF we can keep ourselves until the end (ours or "the" end ...then we have attained salvation. salvation is worked through, as we grow up 'into' him, not sprung on us like an infant receiving a college degree
  • Michael on Matthew 24:13 - 11 years ago
    To paraphrase:

He that retains his love for and loyalty to the truth that is God, despite being surrounded by the negative influences of this world, shall in the end be delivered from the darkness.

This is what the p***age means to me. It has helped give me the strength I needed to continue when what I wanted was to put a bullet in my brain. I love the Lord Jesus and I CAN WAIT to be with him.
  • Chibuzo Destiny on Matthew 24:12 - 11 years ago
I think the end is here, for these words have actually come before us. Many believers today have gone off the faith in search of wordly pleasure. May God help us!
  • Bryan on Matthew 24 - 11 years ago

Jesus know that at the end of this world there will be wrong teaching and many shall be deceived by false prophet. so the beliver should be very careful and be aware of them. the word ta heed is to be sensitive enough about the things that can do us harms.

when thing is looking good for all nation when man don't know what do,the antiechrists a one man goverment will come and say he is the christ and many will follow and those who dont beleave in him shall die but their are to death in this chapter if don't have god in your life there is a second death. we are living in our last days.
  • Dennis on Matthew 24:5 - 12 years ago
I believe that Jesus was saying that many will come and proclaim Jesus as the Christ, otherwise He would have said, "Many will come in my name claiming that they are the Christ". As we know there are no punctuation marks in the original Scriptures. It is in error to put I am the Christ in quotation marks.
  • Nelly on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
Jesus's disciples were concerned about when Jesus will be coming back. We need to be alert at all times, some people will deceive us saying they r Jesus but if you have a personal relationship with him you will know the truth. Read the bible so as to arm against the devil who will try all the time to deceive us.
  • Karen garr on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
woe!!!!!!!!! to all that are not living for our king. for he will come as a thief in the night.no one knows the time and day.we should all live like this is the day.

i think and know and believe GODS WORD, IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FOOL THE ELECT OF GOD.AS LONG AS WE STAY CONNECTED TO THE VINE AND GOD DOES,NT LIE, IF HE SAID IT WILL BE DONE.ALL PRAISE TO THE MOST HIGH GOD,
  • DONNA on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
this chapter to me means that god wants us to be aware of all things that surrounds us, he tells us there are all types of false practices so he left us a comforter so that we can learn of him the truth and all that is to be expected in his coming.he tells us in matthew chapter 24 verse 24 of false Christs n prophets it tells u what to look for so my brothers n sisters I say continue studying your bible and learning daily the word of God BECAUSE, HE IS OUR FATHER TO ETERNAL LIFE. GOD BLESS U ALL.
  • Arpi Jakab on Matthew 24:13 - 12 years ago
If you truly have a personal relationship with Jesus, you fear God, you trust in his promises; can you live a life of disobedience? Not possible. You follow because you are saved, you don't loose your salvation 'cause you don't follow. You can't follow, if you are not saved.
  • Onesoulwon on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
The time of the Rapture, is one of the most studied, preached, discussed (sometimes even argued) subjects in the Bible Some scholars say pre-tribulation, others mid- tribulation, others post- tribulation. Individual beliefs on the subject are usually very strong. But, let me bring something to your attention. Whether the Rapture occurs tonight, tomorrow, or even 1000 yrs from now, we should all be more concerned with our own, personal "Rapture". You see, upon the death of an individual, everything is settled at that point for that individual. There will be no second chance, no time to reconsider, no concern about the Rapture of the Church. As of that moment, your eternal dwelling place, either Heaven or Hell, will already be decided. Therefore, I would like to encourage each individual to seriously consider his or her relationship with God. Have you been "born again"? Are you walking closely with Him? Is the Holy Ghost your guide? If your answer is "no" to either of these question, don't be thinking about the Rapture of the Church. Align "your" life, "your" relationship with Jesus Christ now, before it is TOO LATE!!!
  • Harford howell on Matthew 24:6 - 12 years ago
this scripture foretells the end time...you all see it...homosexual marriage, kids being sacrificied, kids killing people, the name of God is mocked, atheism at a all time high, earthquakes, wildfires, floods, droughts...all in the word this is why it is soo important for us to have a relationship with Jesus...happy thursday everybody
  • Lowell rogers on Matthew 24:3 - 12 years ago
I believe that we're living in the end times now,k,J,V I study daily and in my studies, I believe that Jesus will return in day three, one day been as a thousand years to our Lord, I believe sometime in year three thousand Jesus will return.
  • Victor Martinez on Matthew 24:13 - 12 years ago
It appears that Michael Massi's comment is right on. Rightly dividing the word of God is extremely important when studying the Holy Bible. This is the church age of grace. I can understand why some feel people are not in Christ and don't deserve Heaven if they mix with the worldly things after accepting Christ. Those individuals do not lose their salvation, but rather lose their rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ. They will be saved from fire only. Once you are "born again" into God's family, you cannot be unborn, the same as to why you can't be unborn from your earthly parents. It is a permanent thing. I encourage you all to study the King James Bible and study with those who read from it. There are no contradictions in it, which is why there is less confusion. Study the dispensation of the Lord's Words ( 2 Tim 2:15) because He told us that it would be inspirational and preserved forever ( Psalms 12:6-7) God bless all of you and live in His words that were left here for us.

  • John on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
This chapter shows us what is stated in Mark 13, and Rev 14. After the beginning of the tribulation period when Christians are persecuted and killed for their beliefs, that the 7 trumpets will sound and at the 7th trumpet Jesus comes in the clouds to call his faithful home. This is the point where Christians refer to as rapture, what a glorious day that will be!
  • Pat on Matthew 24:14 - 12 years ago
A kingdom is a government. God's kingdom is in heaven. Matthew 16:19 "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Daniel 2:44 " And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." The previous kingdoms refer to the world powers that are ending, soon to be replaced by God's kingdom. God's heavenly government will bring peace to the earth. Isaiah 2:4 "And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." Only God's government can bring peace.
  • Glenn Ford on Matthew 24:13 - 12 years ago
Jesus wants us to continue in our faith once we recieve the Holy Spirit regardless of the circumstances that surrounds us. "I will never forsake you."
  • Nicholas on Matthew 24:36 - 12 years ago
Praise God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit - In Jesus Christ's Holy and Mighty Name. Amen!
  • KELECHI IHEDUBA on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
Well, the words of our lord Jesus Christ never cease to come to pass. He is the Alpha and Omega. All we need to do is to ask Him to strengthen us so that we might not be deceived by the evil ones.
  • Mac on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
There are no two ways of interpreting the Bible. If you are of Christ, you know that Bible is spiritually inspired. What is this that I saw that says that the son of man will take fighter and fight. Do you not understand that power was given to the anti-Christ to fight the people of God? The Bible is of no private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20). If you lack wisdom, ask and it shall be given you. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding, Proverbs 3:5.
  • Macdonald Njoku on Matthew 24 - 12 years ago
The Blind cannot actually lead the blind. If everyone in America is Blinded, how can they see the truth. America is the Anti-Christ.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Matthew 24:46 - 12 years ago
Happy is that servant, whom his Lord when He comes, shall find so doing. Jesus is telling his disciples to give meat to their household in due season. Jesus said my meat is to do the will of Him that sent Him. As the Father has sent me, even so send I you. We must be about our Father's business sharing the good news with our families. Noah preached about the coming flood, and prepared an Ark for the saving of his household. All eight souls were saved, because they believed the report. Many will not believe the report today, as it was in Noah's day, but we must be faithful until the end, and the Lord will give us the reward of the inheritance when He comes.
