"Comment on Candice's question"
Yes, that is a true question. It is easy to be a good believer when life is normal. But what when life occasions or environment lead you to the state when you begin to lose your faith, or the pressure is to hard that you simply forget about everything (Bible, God, Jesus…). There is no a simply answer, but I suggest the Book of Job. He did everything right but terrible things have happened to him. So he asked why is that so (but he never lost his faith in God). The thing is that Gods vision of what is wright and what is wrong and what is blessing and what is punishment is not always the same as our. We ought to keep our faith and be a good Christians no matter what. Of course this is a goal we struggle to reach, and in that struggle sometimes we fail, but we stand up and go on. And this is a whole life struggle.
Your question is very complex. In Mark 9:23 Jesus said:"...all things are possible to him that believeth." This gives another aspect to your question. You obviously have some kind of problem. I will ask you something and it is not a joke. Do you really believe that Jesus can help you with your problem. I ask you this because people believe in everything, or it is better to say they think they believe. My friend claims that he believes that he can walk on the water. No comment.
Anyway, I am sorry if I entered your life but be strong and do not lose your faith no matter what. God bless you.
Yes, non-believers must believe in order to be healed Math. 9:28; Lk. 8v44 talks of the healing of the woman with the issue of blood. It was belief that that caused her to press thru the crowd; even for a child to be healed, there must be an element of faith speaking for him/her via a second party, maybe the mum, dad, relative etc (Math. 15:28); for the Word of God says 'but without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Now this is the basic requirement for receiving anything from GOD. Belief is the only way. Even those whom Chrit had compassion in healing their children, had to allow Him do it without arguing (this showing belief)for the healing to take effect. Mark 6v5 and 6 shows how Jesus could do no mighty work in His own country bcos of their unbelief, that is God Himself unable to perform bcos of unbelief. Faith is crucial, it is vital. Remain blessed.
How does one believe to receive from the Lord? Believe can refer to various applications. To believe in Jesus for salvation; means to rely on his promises, as we actively receive them into our lives. In our V.23, Jesus is saying, "All things are possible to him that believes" for them to happen. I have read that Drs. say faith is a contributing factor in healing, possibly any faith. However, a solid basis for faith i.e. the power and promises of Almighty God is more ehhective. I believe that the faith Jesus had and entrusted to us, ( Jude 1:3) should be received and spoken into action in order to be truly effective in any work of God.
V.23. Does one have to believe to be healed? Here are some thoughts from a layman. I think "believe" can refer to various applications. To believe in Jesus for salvation, means to trust / rely on his promises as we personally recieve them / Him into our lives. In our V.23, it seems Jesus is saying, "All things are possible to him that believeth" (trusts/relies on them to happen.) In 1 Cor.14:22, I think "believe" refers to believing in spiritual gifts, in addition to believing in Jesus as Savior. I have read that Doctors say, faith is a contributing factor in healing. Probably any faith. However; active faith in the present unlimited healing power of a caring almighty God is more effective. I believe that the faith of Jesus, entrusted to his own ( Jude 1:3), should be recieved and spoken into action, in order to be truly effective in any work of God.
