Meditating God's word day and night are more important than sacrifice. Jesus is faithful to his promises that he will never leave us or forsake us. God had commanded us to be strong an be of good courage neither be dismayed for God is with us until rapture. Amen
This verse shows the importance of reading and meditating on the Bible. This will help us to be successful if we do these things and also apply what we learn in our life.
My dad's name was Joshua. He was an amazing man. I read this book each time I think of him. It gives me some kind of Joy and peace. I am probably going to name my son Joshua too.
I particularly love Chapter 1 verse 3. I have great confidence because of that promise. There is power is that word.
Lord may your word and commandment never depart from our heart and give us the grace to always be benefactors of ur promises so our light will shine, Amen
I was a young woman of of 17 when I read the book of Joshua. As I read of this leader/trogon, he reminder me of my grandfather. I told him if I had a son I would name him- first name Joshua and second name after him because I could see Joshua in my grandfather, who's name was Slavone (French). Thus, Joshua Slavone. Family tells me he is so much like him. He was an officer and now a lawyer.
I also believe that the lord was telling Joshua that the same miracles that he work in the presence of Moses that he would also work for him. Example, the children of Israel crossed the Jordan River on dry land (the children of Israel crossed the over the Red Sea on dry land),. Joshua came into the very presence of the lord, (man standing afar off with the sword in his hand).
I believe even though Moses was dead, God encourages Joshua that he was capable of leading israel as Moses did. The promise God promise Moses was still in effect, his word is faithful even when Joshua lead the people.
To 'Malefu' on Joshua 1:8 -- And to think - they (or rather parents) were 'here' 40 yrs. ago, but only Joshua and Caleb had FAITH in God. And it was only 11 days journey from Mt. Horeb (Sinai) to the land of Canaan. Arrrrrrrrrrrg!!! They saw all the blessings of the Red Sea and Pharoah. I believe it wholeheartedly, but I'll never understand it.
Vs 5 and last line or C ,God that can number the stars, who only knows the number of the sands of the sea, who listens to every prayer made from all the world from different languages, at different time and attend to them all at the same time could say I WILL NOT FAIL THEE, what a humble God, loving God, caring God wahoooooo, amazing, amazing amazing amazing .
My mother shared that scripture with me on yesterday I was blessed and inspired especially by verse 8 to realize there are parts of scripture that we need not speak of but just meditate on God's word and he will bring it to pass that we would have success. I shared it with my family what a blessing.
After my husband 's death I just came to realized that having 4 kids left and now still finding a job requires great faith and that I don 't have to be dismayed .I admit I 'm crushed but not loosing hope for Gods mercy and grace is always new.
This verse tells me that my Lord God is commanding me to be strong : In Him , His Word : and to be courageous , Bold in His word , to be fully persuaded : To Fear not , do not give the devil a foothold in fearing : neither to be dismayed . to be so devastated over a thing that I would attempt not to go near it : to Face that thing with Faith and Courage being fully persuaded that what God promised He is able to perform when I step out and Do !!!! Praise God !!!
I particularly love Chapter 1 verse 3. I have great confidence because of that promise. There is power is that word.
