Matthew 4:4 "..Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." This most important and fitting response was to the temptation to use His divine power to serve His natural human needs and the devil's thoughts, that "God helps those who help themselves." Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for the express purpose of fasting and prayer to commence His Service to the Father and our redemption and with that, being put to the test by the devil. Having committed Himself in the Spirit, it was not for Him afterwards to "save Himself" and rescue the flesh from its inconveniences and discomforts BY HIS DIVINE AUTHORITY! We belong to God and have committed to follow Jesus Christ and be led by His Spirit: we do not afterwards worry about rescuing ourselves from what we are appointed by God to encounter, in the things He has directed for us to serve Him.
