I appreciate the coments of the others posted. Very much so. I see the LOrd's command tohelpthe needy as a broad appeal to see the need in any person and without judgement. Peopple are prisioners of a world of their own creation. And it is as harsh or more so than punitive institution. Feed the hungry? Our Lord always remarks about He being the living water and bread of life. I am not against helping the least of our society. Who might they be? When often time those whose lives are poor have the intelligence to seek the Lord. Ithink we should be more open to the needs of others as this is what the Lord commands. This passage is almost another illustration of the Good Sameritan, but a stronger command. If we don't look at the spiritual needs of others to motivatae us to approproiate action; we are being like lost in the law instead of lead by the Holy Spirit.
