My interpretation of this is as follows. Having more and more people engage in homosexual sex acts is a consequence. It is a punishment, to society, from the act of dishonoring God. God has revealed himself to man and man chose to disrespect God. Hence, the punishment. Furthermore, the punishment includes a lack of discernment. People can no longer tell right from wrong. Hence, the US Supreme Court and ordinary people can no longer discern. God has also allowed man to suffer in their own evil. Murder, deceit, malice are mentioned. These seem perfect descriptions of modern-day massacres, dishonesty, and politics. Another thing that may be related to this chapter is that God said marriage should not be put asunder . If Christians allowed divorce, it s because of their evil hearts. If Christians, themselves, choose to allow divorce and therefore disrespect God , then this may also explain God s anger in Romans 1. We need to step back from calling homosexuals bad people, and read this chapter again. The fault seems to be with society as a whole Christians and non-Christians . The sin seems to be the matter of disrespecting God. The lack of discernment seems to be the punishment. The lack of discernment leads to indecent acts, murder, and deceit.
