"This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;."
The Bible is the God document relating to the fellowship of God with Man. The capitalised Man is to specify the Son in whom man has access to God. The Book consequently presents two sets of generations one of Jesus Christ and he other relates to the sons of Adam. Within this we have generations as in the case of Noah, "Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood."(Gen.10.1) Obviously the flood was a catastrophic event, a partial judgment in which the old world is purged of all wickedness.
The book of generation of Jesus Christ is the other." . Holy Spirit presents another book which is related to 'My beloved Son' the voice from heaven testifying the quality of divine holiness. " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Generation of man is set against Jesus Christ who is same.(Heb.13.8)
"The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." Thus begin the gospel of Matthew and genealogies of man in three sets stated in Mt.1.17 present us a curious insight into the narrative mode of the Spirit. Command number Three establishes beyond doubt that the Fellowship of God refers to his Son, and in whom his fulness rests. So "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.." By him all things consist, so forever' is phrase as three is a number serving as a clear hint.
In chapter five we have the generation of Adam whose lifves are marked in multiples of three, tens and odd years. Ten refers to the law of sin and death. "And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.(Gen,5.5) and Enoch: " And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years." .(v.23)
