    Zech.1.10 "Myrtle trees"

And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth."

The vision that was presented to the prophet is now seen from the other end meaning its is the day of regeneration. The night vision in Dan.7 has had to do with before the foundation of this world.Myrtle trees signify renewal or regeneration."and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white." These are not harnessed as in the other vision but left to pasture after their tasks. They explain,"And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest." Now the rest is what Isaiah had seen in Ch.2.2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it."

Broadly speaking Gentiles and the Jews who are redeemed from the earth are flowing away from where Zechariah is standing. They are flowing into Zion and heavenly Jerusalem. In short Zechariah is among the Jews that were left behind.

The prophet complains, and the rider among the mysrtle tree asks,"how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?" Specifically it has a historical context of Babylonian captivity. In order to set this vision in proper context the nation chose deliberately their path,"But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers?" Divine warning fell on deaf ears,"and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem." It is heavenly Jerusalem.
