After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

2And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

3And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

4And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

5And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

6And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. ( Revelation 4:1-6).

In searching the Scriptures as far as Revelation is concerned, I don't see any shortcuts can give sufficient credit to honor God's glory s I am writing out this and will also for the rest of this chapter.

The first verse certainly seems clear as to being an event immediately after the churches are mentioned in chapters 2 and 3; and we are reminded of the open door for the Philadelphia church. The trumpet also reminds us of the last trump as mentioned in Thessalonians as well. Jesus comes when He finally does quickly; and we see that immediately John was taken in one form or another to the throne room. The symbolism in verse 3 is like in Ezekiel for the throne and the one on it; and the 24 elders symbolize the church in general. Verse 5 describes all of the churches being in the presence of God; the sevenfold Spirit as it were; and the last describes cherubim and the sea of glass. Let us envision this as it is what heaven looks like!
