Joseph, before I came to believe in Jesus I was living my old life. My old life was one that revolved around this world and it’s worldly ideals and beliefs. A worldly life is one that is without true faith, belief, and fellowship with and worship of Jesus as the risen savior of the world. My old life revolved around that world and was empty and devoid of Jesus. Sure, I said I knew who Jesus was and claimed to be Christian, but I really wasn’t. I believe the life I loved before I knew him was the life Jesus was referring to in John 12:25. When you believe in Jesus you will hate that old life. “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.”
