It doesn't say how Elisha felt about the children being killed. I would imagine he was horrified. No one could watch that and not be affected. Judgement is not pretty. Elijah told Elisha that a double portion of his spirit would be a hard thing. Not a hard thing to give but a hard thing to take. The next chapter is years later. I'm sure it took some time to learn to deal with his gift.
