Why is it some churches permit speaking in tongue and some do not?

    God bless you sister Mary

There have been different movements in Church history.

From about 1500 we have the Lutheran churches who just believe that you are saved by faith, and do not need to live a holy life. From about 1700 we have the Wesleyan churches who believe you must also live a holy life. From about 1900 we have the Pentecostal churches which believe that after faith, and holiness, comes the Holy Ghost as a seperate event in your life.

These latter churches would emphasize speaking in tongues. Some even go so far as to say that speaking in tongues is the evidence of the Holy Ghost baptism. That is not true thought; Jesus said that when the Holy Ghost comes He will teach us in all things. So the evidence for the Holy Spirit is to accept the truth when it comes to you.

    Peace & Love in Christ

But let me correct myself that this chApter could also speaking on the gift of the Holy Ghost BUT there is a difference in diverse tongues which is a spiritual gift but it must have an interpretation of spoken to men.love

Other tongues, those are spoken to God. It's between you & God. You will go forward & will receive power. Go preach the gospel in boldness. We must do so in love. Always in love
