Yes, good stuff! I enjoyed all the comments and appreciate this forum. I think Paul puts it in straightforward terms that we are to live new lives, as servants of God.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die Confidence died and fear come in. Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness.

The blood of bulls and goats 'FORGAVE' sin. Not only did it forgive sin, but it cleansed the flesh from sin for A WHOLE YEAR! How much more the blood of CHRIST!!!

I hope the romans figured out what dead to sin means. Paul almost promotes sin in the previous chapters and here he I believe sets the truth out for the romans again like he did in romans chapter one. Great stuff. Some see death to sin as a mystery but I think it's plain to see.

This chapter is often misinterpreted to mean that man can sin all he wants and still be assured of an everlasting life because Jesus Christ already paid for their sins!. In my opinion, this chapter means Christ died so we may be forgiven, we should live Christ-like lives to be able to see the heavens otherwise we are doomed unless we repent for the shortfalls

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he CANNOT SIN, because he is born of God. 1John3:9 Holy to the Lord!

when we seek the Lords way with all our heart we become anewed in our hearts, as it is said in verse 2:22 you do not put old wine in new bottles, means our old ways should fade away when we become renewed in our body mind and soul, you do not put a patch on new clothes, same as us we do not carry our old ways, we become dead to sin or if we hold on to it then we die in sin. Read Romans 6:2

People are being mislead about Romans 6:14-15 and taken out of context. I encourage you to read the entire chapter to fully understand. Some folks believe that because of verse 14 they can sin whenever they want and GOD will continue to butys no attention to the last two words in verse 15.

Just thinking of the passage that says to yield our members as instruments of righteousness. That as we are tempted to sin, to consider how we are using our " member", is it for righteousness, yielded unto God? Say our tongue, if we are tempted to lie or gossip, that we would be reminded to yield at that point to righteousness and to not use that member of our body as an instrument of sin.

One of my favorite chapters in the Bible that so many overlook. We aren't to continue in our old ways after being saved by the Blood of Christ; we are to be His loyal servants, become like Him, and forsake serving sin which will only end in death and separation from God.

Praise God! Because of the price Jesus paid with His blood, we can be saved and free to never ever sin again! What a wonderful thing to live life, free from sin! And to be able to have grace to face whatever life throws our way. There is nothing like having true peace in your heart and life, knowing your name is written down in the Book of Life and right with God! One can choose to sin, but God fo

When Jesus Christ offered his life as a sacrifice once for all time, this allowed Christians to be free from the Mosaic Law. Now they were to be under the Law of the Christ.

Roman 16:14 thought me a lesson that whatever you sow is what reap. when you deceive someone you will also be deceive. You don't have to lie or take what belong to another person. Just pray for what you want and trust God He give it to you.

Teresa: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ( John 14:6) In Matthew 19, the young rich man wasn't willing to give up everything to follow Jesus. Read Matthew 10:38, Romans 6:1-23, Romans 12:1,
1 Peter 4:1-11, 1 John 2:1-29, Matthew 5 (all of it) and if you doubt that mortals can live as Christ did, Philippians 4:13.

It is ok if many people don't understand the meaning of the scripture. This is one of the many reasons why Jesus died on the cross for all of mankinds sins. The real true reason why Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins is so that we can have Grace trough God when it comes to our sins. It is definitely by faith and not by works.

  • Randy on Romans 6 - 8 years ago
Jesus said that whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. So the only way to not serve sin is to stop sinning. But God be thanked, that ye WERE the servants of sin. Sin is all unrighteousness. Being free from sin we are now servants of Righteousness. PEACE!
  • Bruce Wayne on Romans 6 - 8 years ago
Will, look at 1 John Chapter 3. Sin is a transgression of the Law (Law of God that is: His 10 commandments). If you continue in transgression of the Law then you continue serving sin. If you obey his 10 commandments you serve God. Psalms 89:34, God said he would never alter the very thing that came from his lips...from his very lips came his 10 commandments-See Exodus 20.
  • Quansto on Romans 6 - 8 years ago
Hi Will versus 6 is saying that our old man or old personality died when Jesus died for us. so we are no longer slaves to sin
  • A disciple on Romans 6 - 8 years ago
Will Virella; What it means that our old man is crucified with Christ, and that the body of sin is destroyed, and that from now on we should not serve sin? It means that when we repent and ask the Lord Jesus to forgive us for all we've done and are then really and truly converted; Jesus breaks the power of sin's hold of us, and we can start our life anew; no longer a stupid and helpless slave!
