    Cut off again

    Holiness Part 2

Ok it is late; I will make this an outline.

Holiness is something that can only be present in a truly saved individual; of course that means fruits worthy of repentance. ( Matt. 3:8; Acts 26:20). It shows the reflection of the inner man through the authority of Christ; and also the outer actions which also are a reflection of what is truly within. Working on our salvation with fear and trembling ( Philippians 2:12) certainly is a good reference to how our work to grow in maturity corresponds to initial fear of the Lord which should continue as we mature out of our love and reverence to a Holy God. Many tend to seem to be numbed after their original conversion; while those who wish to grow in faith realize more and more their own hopeless state when struggling with the old nature along with Satan's endless accusations of the brethren.

Clearly we don't want titles that promote some man made heirarchy or even use Biblical terms such as Bishop or Pastor to make ourselves seem superior; ministry of men is to be in authority over women but doesn't make them more important; that is another illustration related to this concept. The best way I see it as I have said before is that someone who is truly shining as someone bringing in 100 fold results or shining like the sun stands out as unnerving; when I'm around people like that I want to run and hide. Again that is the same reaction we will have when being in the Lord's presence. I mentioned Daniel; Isaiah and John the Revelator before; we can't forget Saul of Tarsus and his conversion as well as Job's two rebukes from God after the long section showing "brotherly love" (not) from his so called friends. Job blamed God for what was Satan but we could argue he didn't know better; nonetheless the bargain Satan made in the beginning chapters ended up in a humiliating loss and Job was exalted even more after his trial as a righteous man albeit before the Atoning sacrifice of Christ.

Hello Timmywynne. There are many Scriptures that point to the Triune Nature of God, and specifically, that Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit are revealed to us from the very Being of God the Father. When we think of the Trinity, we know we won't find that word in the Bible, as it is purely a descriptive word of what the Bible declares to be the fullness of God's Being. So to the verses you seek, and you will need to read them fully in your Bible.

    Of Jesus Christ: Isaiah 9:6,7 (an Old Testament Prophecy); Micah 5:2 & John 1:1-14 (from everlasting); Matthew 1:22,23; Mark 2:5-7; John 8:56-58; John 16: 27,28; John 17:4,5; John 20:27,28; Philippians 2:5-7; Colossians 1:15-17; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16; Titus 3:13; Hebrews 1:1-3; Hebrews 1:8-10; 1 John 5:7; 1 John 5:20.

    Of the Holy Spirit: Matthew 12:31; Luke 1:34,35; Luke 11:13; John 14:26; John 15:26; John 16:7-11; Acts 5:3; Acts 8:29; Acts 13:4; Romans 8:14; Romans 8:26,27; 1 Corinthians 2:10-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 1 Corinthians 12:11; Ephesians 4:30; Hebrews 10:29; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 John 5:6.

The above are a few Scriptures that point to the deity of Jesus Christ & God's Spirit: all showing that they don't work independently from God, but have been sent out from God, from God's Being, to accomplish His Purposes in the world. And we know that Jesus, as the Word of God clothed with humanity, is the very expression of God to the world ( John 14:9; 1 Timothy 3:16; 1 John 4:2). Hope these will help you in your study of this very important doctrine. Blessings.

Hey Jesse, thank you for what you do.

I know our understandings differ on this and I hope you don't mind my reply. I am grateful for this site and the brothers and sisters on it.

The word of God has a message from the beginning.

The message; the word of life and the eternal life that God the Father alone possesses, 1 Timothy 6:16 was revealed in the flesh of His only Son, Jesus. What is eternal has been manifested in this world and is now available to us. Those of us who share in Christ's death can now have fellowship in eternal life through Jesus, the Son of God.

The eternal life that existed with the Father came to earth so that God, who cannot be seen, could be revealed through Jesus, Emanuel, God with us. This eternal life, which was with God before anything was created, is now accessible to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Father sent Him, sacrificed Him, and raised Him from the grave as the only begotten from the dead.

God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit without measure, affirming Him as the Messiah. Jesus served as God's agent, known in Hebrew as Shaliah, which means God's emissary who performs actions of legal significance for the benefit of the sender, rather than for himself. Jesus repeatedly said, not His will but the will of the Father who sent Him.

In Philippians 2:7, it states that Jesus, fully empowered by the Holy Spirit, humbled Himself and was obedient to the Father, acting as a servant. This is further illustrated in John, where He washed the disciples' feet, teaching them the importance of humility. I know we have different perspectives, but I just wanted to share this.

    God bless,

    Hi Brother Jesse.

"For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state" Philippians 2:20

    Thanks for clearing that up!

What a relief! I thought for sure this scripture was talking about Georgia!

    Thanks and God bless.

    (Philippians Part 9):

Philippians 2:25 - Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

The word "wants" in this verse is the word needs in the Greek. Epaphroditus brought him the love offering. Epaphroditus stayed with Paul and ministered to Paul through all of his hardships.

Philippians 3:1 - Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.

The word finally, TOLOIPON in Greek, means in summary. It's not finally as in this is my last teaching. This is in summary, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. I cannot emphasize too much about that phrase. We see it again in Chapter 4 Verse 4. Paul's going to say that's one of the commands, one of the elements that's needed for fellowship, rejoice in the Lord.

Before I share my understanding of its meaning, you should know that it's a Present Imperative, which means continue to rejoice in the Lord. As I said earlier, the word rejoice, the verb form of the word joy, it has nothing to do with a happy feeling.

In the Greek, the word CHAIRE (pronounced Kah-rah) for joy, and CHAIRO (Kah-roh) the verb form has to do with satisfaction. If every time you see the word joy or rejoice and you put in the word satisfaction, from a spiritual standpoint it makes more sense.

He says that one of the keys in having fellowship together is that you find your satisfaction in the Lord. Not in you getting your way, but when you want what the Lord wants. Then there's no problem with fellowship! It's in a command form. Be continuously finding your satisfaction in the Lord.

    (Philippians Part 8):

Philippians 2:12 - Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Please notice this literal translation: Be continually working out your own salvation with fear and trembling. It's a process. It sounds like we have to work for our salvation, but this has to be taken with the very next verse.

Philippians 2:13 - For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

I have shared this before but will share it again. The phrase "works in you" is the word energizing. For it is God who is continually energizing in you both to will, and to energize of His good pleasure whatever He thinks best. It's His energy, whenever He wants to energize my spirit for His Spirit to work in me. It's all according to His good pleasure. It doesn't have anything to do with my good pleasure. I'm just a vessel. So, we are to be continually involved in having our salvation worked out because it's God who is working it out.

Philippians 2:19 - But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

This has nothing to do with these Greek perspective studies, but I thought a little humor might be okay. Where it says, "when I know your state," that doesn't mean California or Texas. He's talking about their condition.

Philippians 2:20 - For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

For I have no man likeminded. This word mind is the word PSEUCHE. I have no man who is likeminded, who follows along with the same understanding and teaching that I do.

    (Philippians Part 7):

Ephesians 2:6 - Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Who, being in the form of God, and the word being means while existing in the form of God. That's who He is. He thought it not robbery to be equal with God: He did not rob God by proclaiming Himself and presenting Himself as equal to God. So, Jesus is not part of who God is. He's God. That's to highlight His lowliness!

Philippians 2:7 - But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

But made himself of no reputation, literally, it is translated but He emptied Himself. What, of being God? No, of coming here and taking on human flesh. He emptied Himself of the presentation of "I'm God, and I'm here and you should worship me!" His approach to this earthly life in His first time coming here was He chose the low road. When He had a choice, He chose to sleep in the garden.

That is not very enticing for some people to say, "Where does your pastor live." Well, he lives out in the park. "Where was he born?" In a cave. All of the things associated with the Lord's path in His approach to this life was I don't want any glory from man. I don't want to be made a king from the earthly standpoint. I don't want to be treated for who I am. I want to be the servant of all.

God Himself taking the low road!

Philippians 2:11 - And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, and again, that last phrase "Jesus Christ is Lord" in the Greek text, it's literally Lord Jesus Christ. It's not a statement. It's the expression of someone who has a personal relationship with Him. Even after everything is over, people are going to say Lord Jesus Christ. But for some it will be for destruction because they rejected Him in this earthly life. And this is all going to be done to the glory of God the Father.

    (Philippians Part 6):

Philippians 2:1 - If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

It says, "If there be," and the word if in each one of these four phrases is what is called the first-class condition assumed to be true. It can be translated more accurately, since therefore there is consolation in Christ, and the word consolation means encouragement.

Since there is comfort of love. This is the kind of comfort that is given to somebody who is grieving. Since there is fellowship of the Spirit. And since there are bowels, and this would be genuine affection, and mercies.

Since all of this already exists, he then gives us instructions. Again, since there is encouragement in Christ, since there is comfort of love, since there is fellowship of the Spirit, and since there is affections and mercies.

Philippians 2:3 - Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind, and that's the word TAPEINOPHROSUNE which is the word humble mindedness. It's the word frame of mind with the word humble with it.

But in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. Well, that's a tough one! He's really starting to introduce to us the "nitty-gritty" of fellowship. It's having the attitude of choosing the low road. That is unheard of in Christianity in most places.

Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

That's not the word brain. Again, that's the word frame in the verbal form. Let the same frame of mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus. Let the same attitude be in you that was in Christ Jesus.

    (Romans Part 32):

Romans 15:2 - Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

Let every one of us please his neighbor. The word neighbor is the closest person to you at any given time. It doesn't mean just your next-door neighbor. It's anybody that is close to you at any given time.

The cause for this command: For his good and to edification. The word good is the word AGATHOS for spiritual good.

Please your neighbor. How do I do that? For his spiritual good to build him up. Again, edification is a construction term that means to build a house. Whatever is best for that person spiritually to develop their relationship with the Lord.

Romans 15:5 - Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

Now the God of patience (HUPOMONE), and again that's remaining under, and consolation (encouragement), grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: Likeminded towards one other! Well, what is the example? According to Christ Jesus. He's the example!

Now the word mind for "likeminded" is the word PHRONEO. We get our English term frame of mind and attitude from this Greek word. We are to have the same attitude, the same goal, and we are to be likeminded one toward another.

In Philippians 2:5, the same word was used about Jesus. Here's the command, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." The book of Philippians was written about fellowship. Some think it was written about joy, but it is actually about fellowship. That's what Philippians was written for. Paul says that the believers ought to be one in fellowship.

They ought to be likeminded. That doesn't mean that we believe the same thing and we think the same words and the same thoughts all the time together. What it means is we have the same frame of mind. And we find that Jesus was used as the example. What was His attitude when He came into this existence here?

Hello Lovealot19. Thanks for your questions.

To the first one: when we speak of Jesus being God, or Almighty God, we know that Jesus is not the Father - He is the Son (of God). But the question: where did Jesus come from that He should be called God, or Divine? Jesus Himself spoke of coming forth from God ( John 16:28, "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father").

The prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 7:14 prophesied about a special Child to be born, which was fulfilled as given in Matthew 1:22,23, "Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us".

So just from these few verses we are told that God was going to bring a special Person into the World (and we know that it was for the purpose of Sacrifice & Redemption of sinners); and this Person was not born from the union of two humans, but His beginning was from God Himself. John 1:1-14 tells us that God's Word was made flesh, begotten of the Father - and John was speaking here of Jesus (Jesus' Origin & His Divine Nature).

Why does Jesus then pray to God? Because God brought forth One, a part of Himself, Who is both Divine & Human, & called Him His Son ( Matthew 3:17), for He came forth from within the Person of God. As a Son, Jesus now rightfully speaks (or prays) to His Father & was subservient to Him in every respect fulfilling the Will of the Father to one day make full payment for our sins. This Jesus has done, which God His Father accepted, & raised Jesus to be with Him sharing in His Glory, in Honor & in Power. As the Son of God, Jesus was wholly obedient to His Father's Will; now raised in Glory, the Son receives the praise & worship just as God His Father receives ( Philippians 2:5-11). Onto Page 2.

    Amen Brother Jesse.

John 6:28-29 reads "Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Afterwards we benefit from Philippians 2:13

"For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

    God bless.

    Hi Jesse,

Brother, what you do is appreciated, you inspire study. I hope you do not mind this is my understanding, you say Jesus is not sitting on the right of God on His throne, that is an idiom, this means it is saying this is the person that has authority and power, and I agree but was given authority and power, but not with we will not see Jesus, Revelation 21:22. If we also read Ephesians 1:17-23 along with Acts 5:31 it says God exalted Jesus, exalted, the Greek word hupsoo means to lift or raise up, to exalt, raise high.

Ephesians 1:20-21, God raised Jesus and set Him; the Greek word kathizo means make to sit; I set, appoint a physical position of the power of the throne, that is God's divine power and authority over all of creation. After Jesus was raised from the dead, Psalm 8:6 Philippians 2:9-10. This will be until all enemies are under His feet, 1 Corinthians 15:24-28. The throne can also mean sharing in honor and glory by overcoming as we see in Revelation 3:21.

Jesus has been given this position, we know God placed Jesus above all in heaven and earth and under the earth Ephesians 1:19-21. Jesus was raised in a glorified body, and we will be raised in a body as His, Philippians 3:21. Jesus ascended and is in heaven in that glorified body, Acts 1:10 and when He returns it will be in that same glorified body, Revelation 19.

The other words that throw light on this are Matthew 28:18 and John 13:3, given the Greek word didomi which means to give, to give something to someone, to bestow a gift, to appoint to an office, to supply, furnish necessary things. Something given to you that you did not have before it was given like salvation and eternal life is given, godliness, 2 Peter 1:3-8.

We also have Matthew 11:27 "All things are delivered unto me of my Father" delivered the Greek word paradidomi a close word to didomi properly to give, hand over, to deliver over with a sense of close personal involvement.

    Thank you and God bless,

    Hello CBOURNE1516679,

There are many denominations out there and many are filled with the wisdom of man with I am right, and you are wrong, not love. Salvation is in the simplicity that is in Christ that is with faith and prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in the Bible you will find the truth.

Romans 10:8-11 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Is being baptized in water in the name of Jesus in the Bible? Acts 2:38 Romans 6:3-4 and more. Is being baptized with the Holy Ghost/Spirit in the Bible? 1 Corinthians 12:13 Titus 3:5 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 and more. Does one come before the other, not necessarily, Acts 10:45-48, but the sealing of the Holy Ghost/Spirit in us is a must, Romans 8:11, read all of 8.

We must work out our salvation, Philippians 2:12, we will stand in judgment accountable for ourselves, what different denominations say will not acquit us. It is a lifetime journey, love and obedience are a must, Romans 6:16.

God bless you and God bless your journey He will always be with you and lift you up, John 16:13 1 Corinthians 16:23-24.

Great Scriptures Everett that you have given to clearly show the the Nature of the Triune God & the Deity of Christ Who has come forth from (Gk. Ek: to come out of - not a separate a creation) the Father. If I might include these others in support of your list: Mark 2:5-7; John 16:28; John 17:5; John 20:27,28; Philippians 2:5-8. To deny these Scriptures, distorts the whole Character of God and dilutes His great sacrificing Love reaching out to & imploring sinful men to turn from sin unto the Love of God in Christ. We need to take all Scriptures into account or else our view will be lop-sided & erroneous. GBU.
  • Chris - In Reply - 1 year ago
Thank you for your response Shantel. From it, I will just pull out one statement of yours that seems more applicable to the questions I asked. And that is, " Philippians 2:6: Who being in the FORM of God, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL with God.

Christ is not THE ONE GOD, but by INHERITANCE, is EQUAL with his Father, the one God."

I understand that Christ is not the Father (He is the Son of God), for there is only One God. But you state that it is by "Inheritance" that Jesus that holds 'Equality' with His Father God. If that was so, then it applies to His State while on Earth, doing the Will of His Father. What about His Life before His coming to Earth? For that is what this Scripture is pointing us to: Jesus' Form as He appeared to men and to His Equality as pertaining to His Father. Obviously, the word 'Form' can't describe His physical appearance, for how can anyone describe God's Form, rather to His Essence in Being & the Splendor, Holiness & Power He brings. Even though all this was evident in Jesus' Life, His Equality with God (i.e. His 'sameness' in Glory, Majesty, & Power) was something He had to put aside ("taking upon him the form of a servant") so that He could fulfil God's Will in Life & Death. He could not put aside something He did not have. Jesus, through His Humanity veiled His 'God-form' to clothe Himself with 'Man-form'.

So, my focus has been on Who Jesus really is when He came to Earth. Was He just a fresh/new creation of God to be sacrificed for mankind, or did He come forth from the Essence of God, as God, laying aside that Glory & Honor, to be made flesh, taking on the physical limited state of man so as to perform God's Loving Purposes for us? God could have easily 'snapped His Fingers' (as it were) & created a man to be sacrificed. But it is quite another thing when God's Love for us meant that He came Himself, in His Son, to lay down His Life for us. For only such a Sacrifice would be fully pay for our sins & redeem us to God. GBU.

    Chris

Christ's death and resurrection destroyed the OLD and ushered in the NEW.

ALL flesh DIED on the cross of Christ, a new creation was resurrected, the image of Christ and his Father, the equal of Christ and his Father.

Isaiah 43:8 God does not share his glory with another, flesh and blood, they had to DIE, but he does bestow his glory on Christ; John 17:22 and we have been made ONE FLESH with Christ, by his resurrection, we are IN TRAVAIL of birth pains, waiting to be delivered into that PROMISE.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be IN YOU, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 2:6 Who being in the FORM of God, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL with God.

Christ is not THE ONE GOD, but by INHERITANCE, is EQUAL with his Father, the one God.

We share that EQUALITY with Christ, by DYING with Christ on his cross, and being raised with him as ONE FLESH.

If we are going to LIVE by the WORD of God (the sword), we have to DIE by the WORD of God (the sword), understand the NEW and DIE to the OLD.

Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

We have the faith of Christ, we have the mind of Christ, we have the glory of Christ, we have the works of Christ, by inheritance.

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we ALL .... are CHANGED into the SAME IMAGE .....by the Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 15:53 ..... this mortal MUST put on IMMORTALITY ....

1 Timothy 6:16 .... Christ ONLY hath IMMORTALITY, dwelling in the light ....

Isaiah 63:9 And in all their affliction, he was afflicted, and the angel of HIS presence saved them ....

Colossians 1:27 ..... this mystery, hidden from the ages ..... Christ IN YOU ....

    God Bless You

Hello Shantel. I'm unsure whether your post here is in response to me in bro. Ronald's thread or not, but you seem to have referred to my question there.

You state, "Christ is the GLORY OF GOD, his Father, he is not the Father or God; but the Son of his Father and his God." What is Jesus stating in prayer to God His Father? He is asking His Father, that the Glory He shared with Him before the creation of the world, would once again be His possession. Jesus was about to go to the Cross to fully accomplish the Father's Will for Him and mankind. While on Earth, Jesus never failed to glorify His Father: He honored & magnified (Gk. doxa) God's Name to all by His Words, His Works, & His Life.

In these final moments, Jesus prays that as His Work is now finished (v4), that He too would be glorified with the Father in the fulfilment of the work of Redemption. Jesus states that He enjoyed the Glory of the Father in Heaven (which Glory God shares with none other: Isaiah 42:8). Jesus by His Coming had to lay aside that Glory ( Philippians 2:6-8) for embracing humanity & the suffering of death; and now the Work was done, that the Father would now bring Glory to His Son, that both would be glorified together ( John 17:1) in this hour that was planned for from the foundation of the world ( 1 Peter 1:20).

Indeed, Jesus Christ "is the GLORY OF GOD" as you wrote, as God's Son He fulfilled His Father's Will completely. But Jesus also laid claim to His Glory which He shared with the Eternal God before His coming to Earth. If Jesus is not fully Divine coming forth from within the Person of God, then Who was He in Heaven sharing in God's Glory (as He claimed)? To Whom else would God share His Glory? Or does Jesus' prayer make Him a liar (even before God), or as one Who is deceived, or just maybe, a direct claim to the Divinity that He enjoyed within the Godhead in eternity. Blessings & thanks for your response.

    1John 5:4-7 & 18-20

4Whatsoever is born of GOD overcometh the world:and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that JESUS is the Son of GOD?

6JESUS is He that came by water and blood, even JESUS Christ;not by water only, but by water(John7:38-39;8:51and11:26),

    and blood-understand?( Philippians 2:7-11).

And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is Truth.

    GOD,the Word,is Spirit- John 6:63.The Word is GOD,GOD Himself,self-executing,understand?

7There are three that testify in heaven(heaven? Ephesians 1:3-8),the Father-GOD the Father-,the Word-the Word made flesh-JESUS-,and the Holy Spirit(who is not a ghost as is written in English language, but a person-the Paraclete, the Comfort):and these three are One.

18We-the TRUE believers-know that whosoever is born of GOD sinneth not;but he that is begotten of GOD keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19And we know that we are of GOD-understand?-,and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

20And we know that the Son of GOD is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true GOD,and eternal life.

    Hebrews 1:1-3

1GOD,who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

    2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son,whom He hath appointed heir of all things,by whom also He made the worlds;

3Who being the brightness of His glory, and the EXPRESS IMAGE(WORD MADE FLESH)of the Person of GOD,and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

    Revelation 11:15-18 &1Corinthians15:24-27

15...The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ;and He shall reign for ever and ever.

18And the NATIONS will be angry, and GOD's WRATH is come...

    Be careful and Get ready

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in YOU, which was ALSO IN Jesus Christ:

Philippians 2:6 Christ being in the FORM of God, thought it not robbery to be EQUAL with God.

We are the IMAGE of God, NOT the FATHER GOD, we are heirs of our Father, as Christ is heir.

We INHERIT Son ship, being made ONE FLESH by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only BROKEN the Sabbath, but said that God was his FATHER, making him EQUAL with God.

    Is God your Father?

Are you EQUAL with God; or, are you THE FATHER?

Christ is not THE GOD, Christ is a god, a HEIR, and we joint HEIRS.

Psalms 136:2 O give thanks to the GOD of gods ......

John 17:21 That they maybe ONE; as thou, Father, art IN ME, that they may also be ONE, IN US, that the world may believe thou has sent me.

Ephesians 4:6 There is ONE BODY (Christ; and we, as one flesh. in Christ), and ONE SPIRIT (God, our Father)......

Ephesians 4:7 One Lord (and we as lords of our Lord), one faith (of Jesus Christ), one baptism (into the NAME or Jesus Christ)..... 2 Chronicles 7:14 ..... called by my name......

Ephesians 4:8 One God, and Father of ALL, who is above ALL, and through you ALL, and in you ALL.

    God Bless You

I also do agree that Christ was impeccable. I believe Scripture does agree also as in,

    Hebrews 2:14

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;"

    Hebrews 2:18

"For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted."

    Philippians 2:7

"But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"

SUF'FERED, participle passive Borne; undergone; permitted; allowed.

TEMPT'ED, participle passive Enticed to evil; provoked; tried.

And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin."

    1 John 3:5, KJV

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:"

    1 Peter 2:22, KJV

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

    Hebrews 9:28, KJV

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."

    Hebrews 4:15, KJV

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

    2 Corinthians 5:21, KJV

I understand why some look at this differently, but I do feel if He could sin How could He be GOD ALMIGHTY? God cannot sin, has no part with sin... Tempts no man to sin. I do agree with you Brother so I hope I'm not coming off as I do not. Have a good day God Bless...

    Interpreting Scriptures

GOD is Spirit, the Word- John 1:1.He is greater than JESUS- John 14:28,and 5:19-20,and 12:49.GOD Himself, the Word,is self-executing, JESUS is not- John 5:30.They are One in Spirit, but not in existence personal->GOD the Father, and the Word MADE FLESH-JESUS,both are DISTINCTS Persons- Philippians 2:6-9.

GOD has put all things under the feet of JESUS- 1Corinthians 15:27, but Hebrews 2:8-12 say:...8But now we see not yet all things put under Him.9But we see JESUS,who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with Glory and Honour; that He by the Grace of GOD should taste death for every man.

    1Corinthians 15:27-28

27For GOD has put all things under JESUS's feet. But when GOD saith all things are put under JESUS,it is manifest that GOD is excepted, which did put all things under JESUS.

28And when all things shall be subdued unto JESUS,then shall the Son also Himself be SUBJETED unto GOD that put all things under JESUS,that GOD may be all in all.

JESUS is the Spirit-GOD-MADE FLESH->GOD-Christ.Great mystery- John 1:14 combined with Colossians 2:9 and Philippians 2:6-11.Both are one Spirit- John 10:30,but two DISTINCTS Persons being the same Spirit Creator-GOD,having the SAME IMAGE,the image of the Spirit-GOD,one is invisible, and one is vsible- John 14:8-10.JESUS said: John 5:30->I can of mine own self do nothing:.

JESUS as the Greater Light,He commented about the lesser Light-the Person of the Holy Spirit-saying he is the Comfort, the Paraclete, and revealed what is the the mission of him here: John 16:7-15:(By analogy, the moon receive light from the sun,the moon has not ligh in it itself;the person of the Holy Spirit, the Comfort,he has not light in he himself,so he cannot speak anything if does not receive from JESUS- John 16:13.JESUS SAID:he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you- John 16:14,and he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you- John 16:15)

JESUS commented about the mission of the Holy Spirit- John 16:7-15

    Hey Jesse,

Thanks, brother, as you said I was just sharing my understanding that many do not agree, only if we, in prayer and study led by the Holy Spirit, can our understanding change. I know this doctrine has existed for 1600 years and to many, it is considered heresy to not agree. I am amazed at how many people have been killed because of it, even during the Reformation.

We can end this; I will only make one reply to Colossians 2:9. Do I deny the deity of Christ? No. Colossians was written about 30 years after Jesus was crucified, God raised Jesus from the sleep of death because death could not hold Him because Jesus was sinless, the man Jesus overcame the law by a perfect life, He fulfilled the law that was written for man that a man had to fulfill.

When God raised Jesus, He placed Him above all that is in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth, Ephesians 1:19-21 Philippians 2:9-11. This gave Jesus the full power of God's throne, but this did not happen until Jesus was victorious and resurrected, that is my understanding of Colossians 2:9. To me the word deity that was changed to Godhead is confusing and misleading.

    Thanks for your discussion brother.

    God bless,

    "Limited Atonement" or "Effectual Grace."

I am seeking the Lord in prayer over this latest subject and what has become a plethora of debated doctrinal issues. We need as in all issues to be a Berean; and to make sure we actually understand what scripture; and in these cases the "meat of the Word" actually means. ( 1 Cor. 3:2). In order to contend for the truth we have to make sure that disunity and strife aren't being utilized by the enemy to bring weakness to the brethren and especially that it won't cause any seed of bitterness in us to rise up where we would; for instance not be led to pray for one another as we should. ( Heb. 12:15 actually says "root" of bitterness). In many cases there may be more than one truth; such as man RESPONDING to Christ's gift of repentance through action which is of course necessary as well as "working out our salvation with fear and trembling" ( Philippians 2:12). Not only would we be robots if there wasn't some "symbiotic" relationship going on we wouldn't exist at all. In one sense we have to die to self or be "crucified with Christ" ( Gal. 2:20) when we begin to be Born Again; but it is a process of sanctification; which some proceed quickly and others slowly; and most probably in fits and starts of variable length.

I have brought this idea up as is similar to the concept mentioned here of knowing future actions of Jacob and Esau. It would seem Esau is eternally lost; but there were some things even he did to at least stop his plans on destroying Jacob after they met after Jacob's wrestling in the wilderness with the Angel of God. We could look at Moses; for instance who perished along with the rest of the generation; clearly he was a saved man but one error in particular (striking the rock in anger) was enough to keep him from walking into the Promised Land at the end.

We could look at this subject of only some being saved either with total predestined plans of God or His foreknowledge of what men would do.

The winds of the teachings of man blow hard against the truth of God's word.

    Don't falter in proclaiming truth.

Man has no freewill, only God's will prevails in his creation.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing without revealing his secrets to his servants the prophets.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO HIS good pleasure.

We DIED on the cross with Christ, ONLY Christ arose and we as JOINT HEIRS.

Isaiah 59:21 And this is my covenant with THEM, saith the Lord; My Spirit that is upon THEE (Christ), and my words that I (the Father) put in thy (Christ's) mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from hence forth and for ever.

Amos 2:7 Can two (as one flesh) walk together, except they BE AGREED?

    God Bless You

What I believe and understand is that mankind is a spiritual being created by God, in God's image. God not being lonely desired to create mankind for fellowship and to become like God (through Jesus Christ). That is why it is referred to in the bible as a "high calling".

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2 KJV

According to the bible all of God's creations, including mankind, have a purpose. We are saved by the gift of grace, then to change to accomplish good works (or have the desire to live right and please God).

"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Philippians 2:12 KJV

Even though Jesus paid mankind sin debt, mankind still has to accept Jesus and live according to God's word (commandments, statutes, laws, ordinances, etc.)

Hello JBTthe3rd. The word 'Sanctification' is from the Latin, 'sanctificare' (to make holy), and 'sanctus' (holy). We also get the word, 'Saint' from this word. The very real meaning of 'Separation' is also involved in this word, as that which is unholy cannot fuse with that which is holy, but must be set apart from it.

We can look at Sanctification in generally three aspects:

    a. a true believer in God, having been saved & redeemed through Jesus' Sacrifice, is said to be 'Positionally Sanctified'. That is, by virtue of now being a child of God, through Jesus His Son, the Christian is Separated & made Holy unto God by this position in Christ ( 1 Corinthians 1:30; 1 Peter 1:2).

    b. as the believer walks this new separated life, he is also 'Experientially Sanctified'. When we grow in knowledge & experience of our Lord & Savior, we grow to be more like Jesus, hating & avoiding sin and displaying more & more of the Fruit of the Holy Spirit ( Philippians 2:13, Galatians 5:22-25).

    c. we can know that we are truly in Christ, separated from the world & its lusts; we can also desire to grow to be more Christ-like in all our ways; but since the pull of the flesh is always at war with our spirit, we long for the day for our 'Future Sanctification', when our earthly struggles will be over and we will be taken into Christ Jesus' Presence (whether in the Rapture or through the veil of death), and we will be entirely perfect (without any stain of sin) & become as He is Holy & Perfect ( 1 John 3:1-3, Ephesians 5:27, Jude 1:24,25).
