I did not say we should not repent our sins. Of course that's what we as Christians should do on a daily basis, because we see sin everyday and we try everyday not to live according to the works of the flesh by crucifying ourselves daily to the cross. Evidently, in Revelation 2 when Jesus is talking to church of Thyatira, He tells them He knows their works and their patience, charity etc and He tells them to repent OF THEIR DEEDS and those deeds happen to be sins.
So He tells them to turn from "teaching and seducing His servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols." v.20 and Jesus gave them a chance to turn from fornication to not fornicating but they did not.
When Jesus told some people, "...sin no more..", He basically is telling them to repent of their sins, because "sin no more" implies that they were "sinning" and so they are to turn from " sinning, to no more sinning"
The parallel verse to the verse you put - Matthew 4:17- is Mark 1:14-15 and it says, Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."
BELIEVE THE GOSPEL
Who is running your church ?
Jesus or devils ?
Do devils believe God exists? Yes! Can they ever be saved? No, according to Jude and other scriptures. Their case is closed!
More evidence that devils believe God/ Jesus is real? Acts 19:13-16, the sons of Sceva who were casting our an unclean spirit failed and the unclean spirit said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye.."
Mark 1:34 - "And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him."
Matthew 8:28-29 - "And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?"
CHRISTIANS CANT GO TO HELL!
Matthew 7:21-23 ---> Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
He that doeth the will of God(sanctification through Christ)is the one that shall enter heaven.
Remember in v.15 He started with, ".. beware of false prophets.." . Can devils perform miracles? YES. 10 plagues in Egypt. Moses does one, the magicians do the other.
Revelation 19:20 - And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles..
I also see the oft used phrase, "My hour is not yet come" (as seen in John 2:1-5: Wedding at Cana; John 7:1-9: when urged to present Himself; John 7:25-30 & John 8:20: when about to be arrested). It seems that all Jesus' miracles, His talks, even the places He went to, were directed by His Father according to the Plan laid out for Him. The Plan being, that certain things had to happen (not sooner or later) for the duration of those 33 years He lived on Earth. Even though He was encouraged by His Mother, brethren & disciples to do more miracles or take advantage of the crowds that gathered, Jesus knew that the time appointed to Him would be violated by doing so & that all that was necessary for Him to do during those years were foreordained for a reason. And so He could finally exclaim: "that His hour had come" ( Mark 14:41, John 17:1) when He knew that His Work on Earth was nearing completion, culminating at the Cross.
I wonder whether by making Himself more prominent or proving Himself as the Messiah in a greater more dynamic way, would have thwarted the Plan of God for His Life (from the cradle to the cross) and therefore would fail to bring on the full & proper results as the Father had ordained. Just a few thoughts to add to yours, Jesse.
We get some sort of hint of this in Mark 1:41-45. Jesus had just healed a leper. In Verse 44 he commanded the man to tell no one but to go and show himself to the priest. But what would be the reason for Jesus commanding him not to tell anyone else? And by the way, this leper who was just healed, in his excitement he began telling everyone, disregarding the command Jesus gave him.
If you notice that throughout the gospels, whenever large crowds would start gathering around Jesus, He would depart from the crowd. You would think that the more the better, right? But Jesus avoided large crowds.
Jesus performed many miracles. And because of the miracles, He was attracting large crowds. People weren't coming because they wanted to hear the message. They were coming to see the miracles. This is probably why Jesus would command this leper not to tell anyone that He just healed him. Jesus was never looking for fame. He was never trying to attract a crowd. He knew why the crowds were coming. He knew that they weren't coming to hear the message, but that they were coming to see the miracles.
You see, the Lord didn't want an excitable crowd following Him. He didn't want people coming to Him for the wrong reasons, the wrong motives.
Here are a couple verses for you: Matthew 8:16, Matthew 8:28-32, Matthew 9:32-33, Mark 1:23-26, Mark 1:34,
Mark 1:39, Mark 5:2-13, Mark 7:25-30, Luke 4:33-36, Luke 4:41, Luke 11:14.
Some may be of the same account just a different book.
God Bless.
Malachi 2:17- Malachi 3:1. Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
Isaiah 40:3. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Mark 1:2-4
As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
NOTE: In Isaiah and Malachi the plural form for God is used. ( El-o-heem' ) as it is in Deuteronomy 6:4.
Who was the messenger preparing the way for God as mentioned? 'John the baptist'
When God came who did he show up as? " The Lord Jesus Christ. God bless.
The Israelites kept their sabbath based on a lunar calendar. We can always see the sabbath and the new moon referenced together. The sabbath day was always the day after the new moon..and then every 7th day after that until the next new moon.
So it is not a certain day of the week on the gregorian (named after pope gregory) calendar.
For this month since the last new moon it has been on the day we call Saturday, which by no coincidence was also the day passover fell on.
That said, the sabbath day is a holy convocation pointing to the 7th day 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ and His bride. This is the rest that remaineth spoken of in Hebrews. Christians do no enter into a day of the week. However, there is nothing wrong with observing the sabbath, and meeting with other Christians on the Lord's day (the day after); the first day of the week.
I hope this blesses you.
Be well, Andrew
The 70 weeks of 7= 490 years. 483 years when Jesus was baptized. History places this around 29AD. Jesus' ministry was 3 years by the number of Passovers Jesus went to according to scriptures. We are at 486 years. Stephen's death is recorded around 36AD. This is around the same time Jesus stopped confirming the New Covenant through is Apostils and Peter had his dream and went to Cornelius and the gospel went to the Gentiles.
This prophecy was determined upon Israel and Jerusalem not the world, and these six things were to be fulfilled. See for yourself if these were fulfilled by Jesus. 1 To finish the transgression ( Isaiah 53:5, 8) ( Hebrews 9:15-18) 2. To make an end of sins ( Matthew 1:21) ( Hebrews 10:8-11) ( 1 John 3:5) ( Romans 8:3) 3. To make reconciliation for iniquity ( Colossians 1:20-22) ( Isaiah 53:6) ( Titus 2:14) ( 2 Corinthians 5:18-19) 4. To bring in everlasting righteousness ( Romans 5:17-21) ( 2 Corinthians 5:21) 5. To seal up vision and prophecy ( Daniel 9:23) ( John 6:27) ( Mark 1:14-15) 6. To anoint the most holy ( Hebrews 9:6-14).
The 3 years in Revelation starts when Satan is cast down and gives his power to the beast, not connected with the 70 weeks. If not clear its ok.
God bless Andrew, Ron
Acts 14:22 .....that we through MUCH TRIBULATION enter into the kingdom of God.
It's been 2000 years since Christ preached the GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD ( Mark 1:14) under the theory of the seven year tribulation (still waiting) no one would have entered in the kingdom of God.
Revelation 1:9 I John, whom also am your brother, and COMPANION IN TRIBULATION, and in THE KINGDOM...
It appears that John believed he was living during the time of TRIBULATION.
Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: FOR THE TIME IS AT HAND.
Mark 1:14-15 Now after John was put into prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the GOSPEL of the kingdom of God.
(vs 15) And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye and believe the GOSPEL.
Repentance is not the GOSPEL.
Psalms 52:1 Why BOASTEST thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man; the goodness of God endureth continually.
Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his GOODNESS and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the GOODNESS of GOD leads to repentance.
Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, Lo there! behold, the kingdom of God is WITHIN you.
THIS IS THE GOSPEL!
Colossians 1:27 ..... which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory.
You are baptised (not by physical water; but with living water) INTO CHRIST!
The baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire Matthew 3:11
Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
I can only assume from your post that you have received Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Savior. If that is the case, then you have been baptized with God's Spirit. The baptism you are speaking of is water baptism. That does not save you. Being baptized by the Holy Spirit happens the moment you receive Christ. That is His ministry.
In Mark 1:8, John says I indeed have baptized you with water: but He (Jesus) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit.
This is one of the great verses in the bible. John is saying all I do is baptize with water. That is it. That is a tool. I have a message, but I don't baptize with the Holy Spirit, He does, the Messiah does!
Let me share with you this important information about the Lord's ministry:
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the Lord's ministry. That is what He does. It is not an afterthought. And it's not somewhere down the road. When you are touched by, and saved by the Spirit of God, you are baptized in the Holy Spirit.
That is a Jewish term. So we have to understand it from a Jewish standpoint.
Paul himself said in first Corinthians Chapter 12 Verse 13, "For by one spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have been all made to drink into one Spirit"
When you are baptized by the Holy Spirit, you are brought into the body of Christ. You are saved! When a person gets baptized in the Spirit, it represents the fact that the coming of God's Spirit into their spirit has cleansed them. You are clean. In your spirit, you are perfectly clean, because that's where Jesus dwells!
Water baptism can take place later on down the line. It does not impact your salvation at all. If you've received Christ, He has already baptized you with the baptism that has saved you!
As far as bible study, you can do that at home until places of worship and fellowship open back up.
1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received of him abideth in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Revelation 12:14 And to the woman (symbolic of the church, which is us) were given two wings of a great eagle (symbolic of the kingdom of heaven), that she might fly in the wilderness (the desert where you are taught by the Holy Spirit, which is Christ), into her place, nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (symbolic of the day of the Lord which began at John the Baptist crying as a voice in the desert and has continued now for 2000 years.

Daniel 12:7
Daniel 12:11-12
BE BOLD, fear not it's Christ words, it's his WORKS.
Jesus's ministry was powerful because he told truth saying, Repent and believe the Gospel! As I was reading this Chapter I saw the power of the mere words of our God. Simon Andrew James and John only ned to hear follow me and they went. ll he need to do was speak to the demons and they went out. There was so much power just in the words that Jesus said. All things obeyed the Lord showing his power and might. I learned through this there is power in the words we say. IT can bring forth life and life more abundantly. There is much Power in the things we say seeing now those who are born again have been given the authority of Christ. Beautiful description of how JEsus started and moved his ministry by the Power of the tongue. ALL THINGS OBEY THE LORD
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Isaiah 40:3-5 - The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

{ Daniel 9:24} < The context
And he [the Messiah] shall confirm the covenant with many for ONE WEEK: and IN THE MIDST OF THE WEEK (the seventieth) he [Christ] SHALL CAUSE THE SACRIFICE AND THE OBLATION TO CEASE, and for the overspreading of abominations (the continued temple sacrifices, after Christ one perfect sacrifice.) he shall makeitdesolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. ("Behold your house has been left unto you desolate.")
{ Daniel 9:27}
Only our Creator can have a covenant with his creation.
7 weeks + 62 weeks + one week = 70 weeks, to anoint the most Holy, and to seal up the vision and the prophecy.
The dead in Christ rise first to meet Jesus in the clouds; where they are given their resurrection bodies: spirit, soul and an incorruptible body that never feels pain.
The living people in Christ are next to meet Jesus in the clouds. They are born again and filled with the Spirit, so they are given their resurrection bodies then. In the blink of an eye, we'll be in heaven.
We've all been invited to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb; the Bridegroom. God will wipe away all of our tears.
This earth is going to be burned up. It's not global warming: it's a world getting ready for its transformation too. Let us rejoice in new faces, familiar faces and joy unspeakable. Peace be with you,
Mishael
In the New Testament, we find the story of Lazarus and the rich man who both died and went to Hades ( Luke 16:19-31). The KJV translates the Greek word "hades" as hell but most other translations use the Greek word. HADES had two separated parts: Those who died in faith believing in God's promise waited for the resurrection in Abraham's Bosom. Those who died spiritually separated from God wait in torment for the resurrection unto death, eternal separation from God. The rich man was on the torment side and Lazarus was in ABRAHAMS BOSOM which was called "PARADISE" by the LORD Jesus Christ himself when He addressed the thief who found faith the day Jesus was crucified ( Luke 23:42-43)
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment" ( 2 Peter 2:4). The word translated "HELL" here is not the Greek word "HADES" but is the Greek word "TARTARUS"meaning ABYSS or the lowest regions. This could very well be the "gulf" that was fixed between the PLACE OF TORMENT and Abraham's Bosom ( Luke 16:26)
Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fulfill all things" ( Ephesians 4:8-10). Leading captivity captive seems to refer to Jesus taking all those that waited in Paradise to heaven to be with Him. The descending into the "lower parts"refers to Jesus declaring victory over death.
Comment by Alexander Macalister
In verse 3 we read that four people bore him up on a bed (stretcher) to bring him to Jesus (through the roof as the entrance to the house was blocked with people). In accordance with this display of great faith (by the sick man & those who carried him), Jesus was able to heal him.
Their are people like Herodias who have this same power even today, who while in the background can do things that most kings would never consider, even behead, those like John the Baptist! The problem of course ,was even though Herodias had relieved herself of Guilt, after eliminating John, that would actually be the beginning of what God had planned for them all along, the downfall of Herod and all his cronies!
When the gov't, takes an innocent man and beheads him, word gets out fast! People will turn against those that have no desire for the truth. Wise people cannot be controlled. Wise people ,live in the light ,not in darkness. Control of the masses is easy when you take the word of God away! This would be Herod's eventual end. The truth may seem untouchable at times, but eventually you will not be able to deny it. The spirit of truth will not be denied. We would be blessed as a nation if there were more John the Baptist. This pandemic could be the end of many churches, could mean religion's disappearing. With the evolution of technology, be assured that they will endeavor to silence the words of Jesus Christ! The church does not use the kjv ,because it is the truth!
So, in this respect of what the Hebrews writer has given, Abraham is seen as not greater than Melchisedec. And this was shown by the fact that Abraham gave Melchisedec a tenth of the spoils of war, when in fact such an act would be reserved to giving them to the priests. Yet, there was no official priesthood then, as Levi (from whom the priesthood came) was not born, but in the olden days, the kings also sometimes served as priests. In this instance, Melchisedec was a king in Canaan & even though not having any heritage to a godly line, was still a man of God, we understand, whom God had blessed & endowed to specially serve his people. Abraham's coming to him after the war, prompted Melchisedec to give Abraham & his troop food & in return Abraham paid tithes to him. Genesis 14:18. So in this respect, Abraham, though the Father of many nations, was lesser in status to Melchisedec, who pointed to a greater King & Priest.
And because there was no record of Melchisedec's family heritage, nor of his birth & death, the Hebrews writer uses him to show that Jesus comes as his type, rather than from the Levitical priesthood. Even though Melchisedec was a man who still had a history, the knowledge we have of him, shows Jesus as his type: not from a line of priests; no descendants in his office as Priest; no commencement or close of his office as Priest. What is said of Jesus: He "hath an unchangeable priesthood" ( Hebrews 7:24), & because of this & His Perfection & Holiness, Jesus is able "to save (all people) to the uttermost that come to God by Him" (verse 25). That is, this Priest Jesus also became the Offering for mankind.
