  • Jerry Leonard's on Luke 13 - 11 years ago
Jerry Leonard, This is how I see the parable in Luke Ch.13 v. 6. a certain man represents Christ, the fig tree represents the nation of Israel and the vineyards represents the people the Jews. Verse 7 the dresser represents the Holy Spirit, the three years represents Christ 's 3 year ministry, the fruit represents the believers that believe Christ was the Messiah the Son of the Living God. Verse 8 the HE represents the Holy Spirit saying to Christ let it alone this year till I dig about it and dung it. This represents the Holy Spirit filling and giving Peter and other Apostles the power of the Holy Spirit in the calling for the Kingdom of Christ in the first part of the book of Acts. Verse 9 if it bears fruit represents the nation of Israel becoming a believing nation in Christ and if it did it would have been and if not after that cut it down. Well we know the rest of the story The Lord cut the nation of Israel down. But if the nation would have accepted the call of the Holy Spirit Christ would have come back then. For proof read Acts Chapter 3 Verses 19 thru 21. It amazes me Luke wrote this parable in chapter 13 and also Luke wrote the book of Acts,

Verse 27 reminds us that if we are taking God 's work for granted seriously Jesus will deny us from the Father that HE knows us not...so lets take the work of God serious

I love vse 13, because I know that each of us as humans have often felt bound over with burdens, and also at times, felt that perhaps we cannot straighten ourselves up. But faith in God and in His touch can syraighten us up real quick and remove the burdens from us even when we feel that it is virtually impossible to do so in our own humanity. God is soooo good!
  • Nkosinathi Ngulube on Luke 13:21 - 11 years ago
Simply means, study, meditate and fill you storeroom with the word of God. When thou hast filled, there is no way that the anointing may stay encumbered on the inside.
  • Nkosinathi Ngulube on Luke 13:16 - 11 years ago
Her faith, which led her to the Lord, rendered her a daughter of Abraham

It is a pity we 've come to regard demon possession as sicknesses that require physicians.Have we come far apart from the faith that turns impossibility to all possible manner? As much as sickness is bad, physicians are good to cure but only God heals.Let us therefore be completely loosened by our faith in His power.
  • Nkosinathi Ngulube on Luke 13:8 - 11 years ago
'Tis good to intercede for others before we pass immediate judgement. Intercession is a substance of both patience, faith and true love.
  • Larry Reagan on Luke 13 - 11 years ago
verses 1 9 is talking about getting right with God being fruitful and staying right with God,because if we are not fruitful we will be cast into the fire with the ungodly and the sinners.
  • Cynthia on Luke 13:13 - 12 years ago

REPENTANCE FOR THE PREPARATION OF MESHIAH
  • Samuel Chipanila on Luke 13 - 12 years ago
Comment about verse 25. This verse encourages us to be seriously with God. God has given us all the time to repent our sins because when the time comes, he will shut the door and will not let us in.
  • Hi_lord on Luke 13:13 - 12 years ago
this is proof that god made god man lady for man & man for wife .Straight could mean her discipline but it's most likely meaning her being obedient under gods will /divine word.
  • Mgbeadichie Chinedu on Luke 13:24 - 12 years ago
Strive connotes 'struggle'. You must do all you can or struggle by God's grace to ensure that no form of sin remains with you. But those that take it for pleasure-serving God with sin and still have the mind of entering heaven at the end will be disappointed.
  • Robert on Luke 13 - 12 years ago
    A chapter on repentance.
  • Timothy on Luke 13 - 12 years ago
There are some wonderful revelations again in this chapter. But, the verse i am commenting on is verse 16.Jesus said, the devil bound the woman with an infirmity for 18 years.I wonder why the devil would just specialise in wickedness. Why did the devil did this to this woman?.Was this woman aware that satan was the one behind the scene? The audience that were complaining, were they aware of the source of this woman problem.Christians need to learn how to pilot their challenges with prayers. Satan stages battles against any one in order to put all under a perpectual dominion.

Brent 1 Cor. 15:39-40 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
St. Luke 13:30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
St. Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

Lord gives us a chance every day to do good
because He wants to save us
He loves us more than any thing else in the world
  • Sigmund Ivarsson on Luke 13:24 - 12 years ago
Those who try to enter some other way are those who try to come in on account of their own righteousness. It is a terrible trap. The more we obey the law the more we are proud of ourselves. It is human nature. We keep away from temptation and then we think we deserve our place but actually when we find out that all are allowed in we get offended by God's mercy. What happens is that we are offended by God. It is a matter of fact we think how can he let "them" in.This is not a God we can accept and we walk away just as the gates open and the ones who feel like they do not deserve it accept the invitation and enter rejoicing.
  • Farzana on Luke 13:30 - 12 years ago
jesus always gives us right place
he never let us down n never let to fall down.
  • Sigmund Ivarsson on Luke 13:24 - 12 years ago
If the gate is so narrow of course many cannot enter at the same time. Not only that but it is also very low so that you must bow down very low to enter. Watch you heads sort of warning. If your head is up high full of pride you will get knocked out but if you bow you also cannot hide any weapons. These things that the Camel cannot bring in nor a person are worldly goods and the traditions of men. You say but these are our tradition and God says drop them. You say they are sacred, God says they are unclean. All of them to the trash heap to be burned. You say I am burning your honor and I say how perceptive of you. Do you still want to come in?
  • Brian Jama on Luke 13 - 12 years ago
On verse 7. I feel afraid on this many years God visited and found no fruits. Jesus pleading for us saying give another year, which is the final year. Jesus is coming soon.

"There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole, there is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin sick soul" Remember that Jesus is always there working for our healing.Embrace the healing that you experience every day, and know that there will come a time that Jesus says to you, "though art loosed from thine infirmity."
  • Rob Queripel on Luke 13:16 - 12 years ago
It seems to me that the Pharisees of that time had "painted themselves into a corner". Their non-biblical laws regarding "untie-ing" and "leading" are not supported in Exodus. In fact surely the watering of the "ox and ***" ( Lk 13) is allowed for in Ex 23:12 where under sabbath law the "ox and ***" are allowed rest. Silly hypocrites!

Answer to Art Hays, God has always been the same yesterday today and tomorrow. Man, not God changed the word. Satan is so happy that some will accept his work of art in the new so called bible books that they think, (Oh its so easy to understand)
In Revelations 22: 18:19 of the KJV bible will tell you all you need to know about changing its grammar. May God bless you.
  • Sherman on Luke 13:27 - 13 years ago
    So true
  • Mas on Luke 13 - 13 years ago
    @Art Hays,
Please always bear in mind that King James Version 1611 is 17th century English.
So much of its grammar has changed, and cannot be used today and still be correct.
    God bless you.

Can the condition of the “if” (1st, 2nd, 3rd class condition) be determined in a sentence?
