Psalm 80.

Lamentations 2:11 and associated passages discuss tears when the Babylonian captivity and it's horrors of stervation and destruction by fire of Jerusalem occur which is much like the theme here.

In terms of being as a vine (v. 8) we see such depictions of Israel in John 15:8 as well as Ezekiel and apparently Psalm 88 as well. Verses 10 to 12 also describe great branches such as a cedar (v. 10) which is also descriptive of other nations such as Lebanon which is compared to a cedar in no less than 100 verses in scripture. Trees also describe Egypt ( Ezekiel 31:18) as well as Assyria as ( Isaiah 10:24) which was "planted" in Lebanon.

Once again as in the previous Psalm; we see evidence of a prophetic mention of the city being burned (verse 16) signifying the Babylonian captivity. Verse 17 seems to indicate Christ as a possible man at the "man of thy right hand" made strong. Quickening the people in verse 18 could signify the Resurrection; or restoration at the end of the Tribulation. The idea of God awakening reminds us of Isaiah 54:7-9 where God briefly turns away; again possibly signifying Jacob's trouble.

Dear Annamae, It's hard, I know, but we must not go by the way we feel. Philippians 4:6-7. Just because we feel that God is far from us doesn't mean He is. He has promised to never leave us. Psalm 118:6. The devil will cause you to feel the way you do to disrupt your relationship with God. Here are a few weapons to use against him.

Yes, Mishael, we definitely should continue to pray for God to do His miraculous work of salvation in those we know who have strayed from faith in Jesus, and those who have heard the Gospel, yet still refuse to access the grace offered in the Gospel, which brings us to salvation. We also can continue to pray for those who have never heard the Gospel presented to them (either rightly or not at all), asking that God will send out those who will evangelize these people. We all are called to hold out the Word of Truth to those who are lost. Yet, there will be those who will be called specifically to evangelize in areas of our world where the Gospel has been silenced (Communist and Islamic countries in particular) or has not been brought to the people (such as in remote tribes and peoples in more isolated areas of our planet). This is the time of the Great Harvest (the last 2000 years). The gospel is the power of God for salvation today as it has been since its beginning in Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

I like Jonh 6;37 which says:- Everyone who The Father gives me will come to me, and he that comes to me, in no way shall I put him aside.

However when you say "America" I have learned many people outside of USA, more often of the "America" Continents, will reference themselves as American, especially when immigrating into USA, likewise other Continental countries call them American, USA often called The States; I've learned in recent years. Being this is a globally active website I try to clarify USA. If you're speaking only of USA, I would like to comment to that. I feel it unfair to group all U.S. into that assessment. However many Psalms 62:10, treasonous, tyrannical leaders within industry, Ezekiel 46:18, banking, loans, education, political, etc Isaiah 5:7-8,, definitely fit into that. Quite possibly we, most of us, fall into the category of the oppressed more than the oppressors = that GOD will deliver, protect & bring justice: 2Peter 2, Psalms 37, Psalms 12:5, Ecclesiastes 5:8, Isaiah 54:15-17,

Perhaps it's the word "man" that the emphasise is. Romans 8:14, Galatians 4:6, Hebrews 12:7, John 1:12, Philippians 2:15, 1John 3:1,2 , 1John 4:15, How sad it is when a living father says "see his face no more" or turns his face.

Paul here in this chapter vs.4-5 reminds us what our warfare & weapons are all about, especially if/when sin is in the/our camp, thru out the Bible (KJV) revival & victory is won/guaranteed when we put WORSHIPPERS IN FRONT/AHEAD OF EVERYTHING ELSE (did we forget again?), beginning with a return to the Word Of God! Remember Jericho? The Day Of Pentecost, Hezekiah's revival etc?

The scripture in Isaiah 58:1 says show *'My People' their transgressions & *'The House Of Jacob' their sins! A clear distinction of the two ("why call me LORD, LORD ....). Can you imagine what would/could happen if we put Judah (Praise/spiritual weapons) in front/before PEACEFUL patriotic truckers assemblies world wide, especially in CANADA & AMERICA? Hello Beverly. Psalm 149 is of unknown authorship & is essentially a call to praise God. It was probably used as a hymn by Israel, in not only offering praise (vv1-4), but also a victory song of triumph over their enemies (vv5-9). However, these latter verses prophetically look forward when all nations will be subjugated when their Messiah, Jesus Christ returns, setting up the (millennial) kingdom. For this, you can refer to Isaiah 54:11-17 and Micah 5:4-15. However, Christ did return to be their Sacrifice for sins, but they rejected Him as Messiah & there will be a day coming when they will mourn, seeing the One Whom they killed ( Revelation 1:7).

Here is one of several scriptures in the old testament that refers to ISRAEL.

Isaiah 54:5. For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

This is not the Church or any Individual, It's just a way of Godis is verbally showing his faithfulness and commitment towards Israel.

It is the theme of the relationship between God and Israel throughout the bible.

They keep going after other gods and he punishes them for spiritual fornication.

However he's not a husband to them today, Isaiah 54. is prophetic. " Read the whole chapter ".

Here is where they stand today.

Jeremiah 3:8. And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

I do love the point Brother Chris made with 1 Corinthians 7:34. There's no improving on that for a widower.

I would also like to add what's comforting for Israel and the Church.

Psalms 146:9. The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
