No matter how much we know, it should humble us to realize that there is no limit to what can be learned about Jehovah, his works, and his ways.

Wait Does God want us to sit around and "wait " for Him, or is the root word more like what we expect from a restaurant "waiter ". Should we not be "waiting " on the Lord by serving Him!

I feel that the whole book of Isaiah speak to the people who have thought that GOD has forgotten them. the people who think that GOD NEVER forgives and just stay angry with them. through the book of Isaiah he reach out and say he forgives let 's get salvation correct. he tells us how to fast, he tells us the description of the deliverer JESUS . PRAISE GOD '
  • Rev. Autrey on Isaiah 40:3 - 12 years ago
Verse 3 Listen! I hear the voice of someome shouting, 'Make a highway for the Lord through the wilderness. Make a straight, smooth road through the desert for our God. ... Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together ... ' " This is a prophecy about God coming as Jesus to save his people from their sins. We know it is because it was made during Old Testament times, before pople had a chance to say that Jesus is not the God spoken of here. We must understand that because all sin is against God, this makes God himself the offended one. And according to all known legal codes, the offended one is the only person legally authorized to remove the offense. What I am saying is, according to God 's own law, God is the only one authorized to come and set ut free from the offenses we committed against him. We know this is true because the passage continues "Messenger of good news, shout to Zion from the mountaintops! Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in all his awesome power. " Jesus is called the Sovereigh Lord, here, because he is the way God did come to us. That is, just as he said to Paul on the Damascus road, "I am Jesus. the one you are persecuting. " Then to make this absolutely clear, the passage concludes, "He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry them close to his arms, holding them close to his heart. ... " Who else but Jesus is the good shepherd who leads us to the green pastures of heaven? May the Lord be with you!

I'm currently separated from my wife. The church, Christian friends and myself are praying for restoration in my marriage. I have been reading my Bible more and studying Christian marriage books. I want my wife home right now, I in my flesh have no patience! This verse has reminded me that it's not my timing but God's. I know that God has work to do on me and my wife so that our marriage will be strong. Please pray for us.

This is indeed all we need when everything in the world is going at an alarming space, everything at times gets to be incomprehensible ,He is God who is faithful and honorable to renew our strength ,to make us walk and faint not,he is the standard of our victory. To lead us by ways we know not and give us inner strength to soldier on.

I will like to focus on Father YAHWEH's love for Israel as well as for us who have been taken into the Family of YAHWEH through the salvation in His Son YAHSHUA who is called Jesus. it is His love for Israel He punished them and it is with the same Love He pardoned them and deliver them. We must understand that it is because the Eternal Father loves us He has to refine us even with punishment, but He has power to forgive us and revive us and empower us to live righteous life.

But they that wait"...not upon any one else BUT the Lord, their strength shall be renewed...My God! this is a sure case no debate weariness is not their potion only those who wait upon the LORD...BLESSED..
  • Greg on Isaiah 40:31 - 12 years ago
I like the Hebrew translation of "wait." We bind ourselves up; we wrap and twist ourselves into - and become as one, just as the vine does with the Branch - the direction of expectant attitude that He does all things well. The stressing of our minds in the direction of strength and deliverance; of hope and of constant help assures me that in his time, he will turn and hear my cry!
  • BSP on Isaiah 40 - 12 years ago
This verse shows that the Bible is scientifically accurate. The Bible clearly showed the earth is spherical when it talked about the "circle of the earth." If man would take the time to read God's word, this would have saved them from their false theory that the earth is flat and not round.
  • Dan Z on Isaiah 40:2 - 12 years ago
Jerusalem was thrown into the penalty box for her sins twice, two times (double). The first time was the first destruction of the temple and the city by the Babylonians (586 BCE). The Jews, the rightful hosts, were taken captive for 70 years and Jerusalem allowed to lie desolate. They returned during the rule of Cyrus the Persian.

The 2nd time was the 2nd destruction of the city and the temple by the Romans in 70 CE. The holy place was "trampled under foot" by the Gentiles ( Daniel 8:13, Luke 21:24) until 1967, when the Jewish people regained control of the old city and temple mount. This was exactly 2300 years after the fulfillment of the first event (Battle of Granicus) in Daniel's vision in Daniel 8 (vs. 6 and 7).

This chapter is a reminder that God is the only one in control...I also have to remind myself this when fear, and wearyness try to rise up against me,in different situations. It's just best to Trust in the Lord 100%, You can never fail with him, and He will never fail to amaze you... Be Blessed
  • Vitto Sumi on Isaiah 40:31 - 12 years ago

  • Phil on Isaiah 40 - 12 years ago
all they had to do was read that the earth was roundbut yet they wanted to do it scientifically rather than just depend on God
