Here Christ is explaining the he has come to teach the pure truth or 'new wine'. In order to preserve this 'new wine' the Jews had to let go of the 'old wineskins' or traditional teachings of Judaism. Judaism is a manmade religion created while the Jews were in captivity in Babylon 500 years before the coming of Christ. When Christ arrived he exposed their religion as false in Matthew 23. It was false because it led the people away from the Word of God. Christ's teachings or 'new wine' led the people back to the Word, but this created a dilemma for the people. They could not preserve Christ's teachings while clinging to Judaism or the 'old wineskins'.
The lesson here is we have to abandon the false teachings of these man-made religions, pray for Holy Spirit to guide our minds to the spiritual truths of the Word. Yes, we might need some guidance for understanding, but ultimately we must rely on Holy Spirit to elevate our minds to the spiritual level of Christ's teachings. I pray this is helpful to you. Shalom.
Hello, beware of fake news and false teaching that satan spreads around to deceive Christians looking for an alternate identity of privilege. The fact is we all have our identity in Christ and anything outside of that is often an attempt to pursue the flesh- status, identity, value, found not in Christ, but an imitation substitute. I don't know if this describes you or not, but we're seeing more and more people be baited into a deception. Keep your armor on and stand guard to protect against satan and his lies.
Romans 1:16-17 is often used as the key verses to summarize the book of Romans. Paul declares boldly why he is not ashamed of the gospel about Jesus that he preaches around the world. This message is nothing less than the power of God for everyone who believes, both Jews and Gentiles. It is about being declared righteous by God because of our faith in Him. Paul put the same idea this way in Philippians 3:8-9: "that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith." This is God's gospel: God's "good news" for humanity. Paul quotes Habakkuk 2:4 to show this is not a new idea: "The righteous shall live by his faith."
Habakkuk is talking to God and waiting for an answer. God answers Habakkuk and instructs him to write the answer down and make it clear for others. The answer (vision) will make sense to God's people when the time is right, according to god's plan.
If my understanding is missing some important parts, please share. I would greatly appreciate the help. This passage helps me overcome my fear of confusion when reading the Bible.
I think all you men are doing a great job of getting people to think about end time events! Also to pass it on to family and friends.
Jesus said for us to WATCH. Be looking for Him. Be ready. Be born again now. Lovingly witness to everyone you want " inside the Ark with you". Jesus IS the Ark. Every time someone came by & asked Noah what he was doing, he preached Salvation to them.
Only difference is that next time will be by Fire. We are supposed to preach these realities, that you know already.
The earth is readying. It's warming up. In Job you see that God has storehouses of hail stones. Every year we experience floods, huge forest fires, drought, wicked storms. If you watch the govt earthquake center, you will see places being rocked every day with size increased tremors. Especially in areas that are being fracked.
I'm praying that everyone is aware of these realities. There are people that think they can just "ride it out". Why not instead be ready to go with Jesus? Now.
1 Corinthians 12:31, 13:2, 14:1, 3, 5. I don't think it's useful to get bogged down in tongues again. Paul is saying that to PROPHESY (speak forth the Word of God) is more useful. The Holy Spirit watches over His Word.
You have a whole room in here with people dropping by to hear something from God. They have problems, they're frightened, they suspect that "this Bible stuff" may have some truth to it. These are Jesus's sheep and lambs! If you're not a shepherd, then you're a sheep. I remind myself often what Ezekiel was told in chapters 2 & 3. We are accountable for what we say or write. It's serious business. If you get unction to warn others...it is probably God. Habakkuk 2:2-3
I love the book of Genesis. You have to read it very slowly. Things in chapter 1 will be picked up again in 2 or 3, with additional information. Satan was a snake. Eve knew not to eat the fruit, but she wanted to have the knowledge. She was tempted with food.
"Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith." We should not think about ourselves above what is written in the Scriptures, as if we are any way better than others. With all restraint being taken away, so that the ungodly can do all that they have imagined; only a firm foundation of faith can enable us to endure the world's moral disintegration.
"Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith." Speaking to the kind of days we are appointed to pass through, to bring about the end of sin and the completion of the age; that which God shows us as the proof of those who are of Him, and those who are not; we should not be deceived into forgetting what is our true condition in God's sight.
And the Lord answer me and reminded me of his words meditating Gods words everyday can cleanse our mind heart and soul I will praise you Jesus forever and worship you alone amen
In verse 1 we see the importance of having a watchful attitude. We are living in very critical times and we must be alert to the Biblical meaning of world events.
"And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it." "But what saith it? THE WORD OF GOD IS NIGH THEE, IN THY MOUTH AND IN THINE HEART!" All they who are of the truth WILL HEAR the Lord's voice in His Word; and will not have itching ears for other gospels or other Christs. He gives understanding to the simple, and wisdom to do it!
Vs. 7-8; M. Henry comm.; "Babylon th'ot themselves secure ..... and Cyrus must be worn out ..... but by an unexpected stratagem, in draining of the Euphrates, he got possession of the city". I had never read before how Cyrus did this. I wonder if it was to 'cross' the dry bed or to deprive the city of water? I only read a small excerpt, not the whole thing.
V. 4; Rom.1:17 - I've read Hab. before, but just now saw this. When the ch. first began (Acts ch. 2) there was no N.T.; just the O.T., but the O.T. prophesied of Jesus - all of it. It wasn't until around 15 yrs, after the ch. began that the N.T. began being written. Everything that was taught was from the O.T. Everything Jesus taught was from the O.T.
In the book habakkuk chapter two verse 2 question if I wanted to write the letter in verse to my prayer closet is the bathroom what I write a letter stick it in the bathroom or write a letter and put it in my Bible or write a letter and put it up?
God gave me this scriptures this am. It's my waiting season but I know that the vision shall come to pass. I just have to stay focused and connected to God
God is always faithful to his promise,we should learn to be patient and he will show up at his appointed time.I have been believing God for a child,I know he will answer me in due season.
Waiting, is not an easy task but while waiting one must be faithfull on to him.The moment you turn away from him he will show up.remember adam and eve story the moment they eat the apple God was there to visit them. Please wait.
Pastor Celestine Ossaite on Habakkuk 2:3 - 11 years ago
God reveal what we will become through our dreams so that we will focus on it,but the time is not now but many years to come.just like Joseph in the Bible who saw a very big dream but suffered many years even in prison before the dream come to pass.
This verse speaks volumes to what i am going through right now. Not sure how many here have recieved actual and true visions from God. But sometimes the appointed time is alot longer than any man woman would ever hope for even thier worst enemy. To all those who have whatever it was it will come to pass. Been three years plus for me now but i know when our lord speaks he follows through.
