Great question. Since God is invisible Colossians 1:15 whatever people saw was a physical representation of Him or just his glory Exodus 33:19, but perhaps lacking in his true essence, because to truly see Him, people would die: Exodus 33:20.
So many people say they want to see God's glory but don't know they'll die if they do. You are in the Clift of The Rock n it's covered by God's hands because it is not time for you to know and receive that blessing yet. Just be happy that you are being protected, guarded and when it is God's will, he will remove his hand and you'll be able to see what God has left BEHIND for you to enjoy n share.
In verse 11, ...but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. We have a High Priest interceding for us... In Zechariah, Joshua the high priest was clothed in filthy rags then clean clothes were given to him and Zechariah referred to the BRANCH. Also later when Joshua was given a crown... I believe these 3 instances foreshadow the Name above every Name!!!
Verse 13~Moses prayed to know Jehovah God's ways. He had witnessed many miracles and had the chance to know some of God's ways but he wanted to keep learning.
And it shall come to pass that my Glory passeth by I will put thee in the Clift of the Rock and I will cover thee by my hand while my Glory will pass by. Thank you Jesus you are my Rock and my Salvation I will praise you Lord forever for you are worthy Hosanna in the Highest I love you Jesus forever my Jehovah my Peace Shalom amen
Well... 1 GOD LOVES his children-'Not a little, Nor A lot- God 'IS' "Love", therefore... God promises us Saftey- 'Not TIME' eg-Don't Lay awake or Lack of sleep waiting, Your Turn will come when God Decides, Not the Clock- Keep learning Gods Words, God will come- Very Very Important during your wait, is to keep your Body Mind Healthy
"And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite...for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiff-necked people: lest I consume thee in the way." The LORD will fulfill His promises to His people for the sake of our ancestors who were true and faithful; but He will nevertheless hide Himself from those who continually provoke Him with sins and know Him not.
I love mostly where Moses said if God's presence doesn't go with him, he would not go.... As Christians, we should be constantly in search of the presence of God. We should strive to remain in His presence, that is when we ca be far away from sins and immorality. Also, once we commit sin, we should also know that His presence doesn't behold iniquity! I pray that we abide in Him till eternity
I most enjoy where Moses ask God to shew his glory unto him, we all should want the glory of the lord.It is health to my navel and marrow to my bones, I want the glory of the lord to be seen in mylife, in my walking, in my talking , in my sleeping and in my waking. Bless God for his marvelous Glory.
@Lu2677 then how do you explain Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. God does not lie this is what he spoke to Moses.
I absolutely love this scriptural experience. It gives me hope and its confirmation that I too, along with anyone of us could experience this as Moses did, and see the Glory of our God
Verse 19 is exceedingly instructive. "..and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy." We pray that God should look onto us with His mercy and grace.
I love this chapter and I believe that it refers to when Moses and Elias is talking with Jesus on mount transfiguration.God said that Moses couldn't see him and live but there was a rock.that rock is Christ.
V.23 - The Lord brought it back to me; I did know the meaning, but had forgotten. The 'face' of God is - the future. If Moses or we could see into the future - all the wars, famine, genocide, floods, famines, etc., - the enormity of it would kill us. His back parts we can see because they have already happened. Seeing the glory of the Lord is what He has done and will do. cont.
Everything God does - has a point. He didn't do v. 22 just to pass by Moses. In v. 23 God's 'back parts' was what He had done - before Moses, in the wa-a-ay distant past - that He wanted Moses to write down - starting the O.T. There was more of a point to vs. 22 than just 'passing by', but I don't know what it was; somebody ..... ?
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at God's right hand. Look! I can see heaven thrown open, he said, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God. Acts 7:55, 56
