Confessing to the Church is not only not necessary, but a blasphemy. Seeking forgiveness and absolution of sins from the Church rather than God.
There is only one mediation between God and man; the atonement made by the man Jesus Christ.
-- 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV For there is one God, and ONE MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD AND MEN, THE MAN CHRIST JESUS;
People remain in false religious beliefs as they are fearful of standing alone, of losing family and friends not willing to give all to gain Christ Jesus. They feel safe and secure being in bondage to the laws of the "Church". Christianity is an individual religion, standing alone, hopefully within the brotherhood of others standing alone, steadfast in the faith.
-- 1 Corinthians 16:13 KJV Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
-- 2 Timothy 2:1 KJV Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
It takes great moral strength to remain meek, patient, kind, charitable, in every situation maintaining your trust in the Lord. You only have to contend with one.
-- Hebrews 10:31 KJV It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
-- 1 John 1:9 KJV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. Does this verse mean a woman should not, in any case, have authority over the man?
Calvinism relies on telling a few clever lies to convince their followers of their distorted teaching. The Bible itself refutes their ideology in the following examples:
Did Jesus die for all, yes or no?
1 John 2:2 says YES
John 3:16 says YES
1 Timothy 2:4-6 says YES
2 Corinthians 5:14 says YES
Romans 10:13 says YES
1 John 4:14 says YES
But Calvinists say NO
Scripture saying Jesus did NOT die for all:
[none]
The Word of God says Jesus died for "all" and the "whole world" and "everyone" in those verses above. All means all, and the whole world means the whole world, and everyone means everyone. But cult teachings will try to twist this and say all does NOT mean all, and the whole world does NOT mean the whole world, and everyone does NOT mean everyone. It's like the serpent in the Garden of Eden who said you shall NOT surely die. It's obvious who is on what side by how they either affirm or denounce the scripture.
Those who disobey and intentionally deceive others from the truth put themselves in grave danger of God's wrath.
The 2nd big lie told by some is that people don't have freewill to do anything whatsoever. Some contradict themselves by saying they still sin but isn't their fault, while others say they don't sin at all and are perfect like Jesus, an obvious lie that 1 John 1:8 makes clear. Verses like Joshua 24:15 that say for you to choose (Calvinists deny this means you're not choosing) or for you to open the door (Calvinists deny this means you're opening the door) Revelation 3:20 , John 7:17.
The biggest lie I hear many say about others- they claim others are trying to EARN their own salvation. That lie is straight from Satan. They know its a lie but will spread it anyway. They know that 99% of Christians believe in grace and believe it is a gift, not earned. But just because they believe God gave them a gift of choice like Joshua 24:15 says, they suddenly claim their motives are to "earn" heaven. So dishonest. Beware of wolves!
And we could also include Romans 9:17,18, concerning Pharaoh. As Moses was shown mercy by God for the revelation of Himself, so God had also raised up Pharaoh, hardening his heart against the children of Israel so as to declare to all God's Power. Again, we cannot use any of these examples to demonstrate that certain individuals are elected to salvation based on God's indiscriminate choosing, but these examples show that God alone, for His Own reasons, selected Israel to be His Elect, for Moses to see God's Glory, and for Pharaoh to be used of God to demonstrate that He alone was God and that none else, even the god-like Pharaoh, could ever be compared to Him.
May I give you a three verses, asking for your understanding? John 3:16, 1 Timothy 2:4 and 2 Peter 3:9. About whom are Jesus, Paul and Peter speaking in these verses? GBU.
Peace be with you. How are you feeling? Are you getting better?
I've been keeping you in constant prayer - truly.
And believe me when I say: it has also been something that's deeply blessed me, even though I'm praying for someone I haven't met in person yet.
The Bible encourages us to pray for everyone - not only for friends, family, or people we know.
It speaks about praying for all men ( 1 Timothy 2:1), for those who suffer ( Hebrews 13:3), for those who persecute us ( Matthew 5:44), and also for the whole church - even if we've never seen each person ( Ephesians 6:18).
So, even without knowing you personally, I keep praying.
There is a purpose in this.
When something changes, don't forget to share.
Knowing that helps me feel that this time of intercession is not in vain - not at all.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; ( 1 Timothy 2:5)
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. ( Hebrews 7:25)
During the days of Jesus' earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence. 8Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered. 9And having been made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him 10and was designated by God as high priest in the order of Melchizedek. ( Heb. 5:7-10)
In Luke 22:43 we see that an angel from heaven strengthened Christ in Gethsemene; this was so that He wouldn't die before the cross as He was sweating great drops of blood with water at the time due to stress.
It is more than sobering to consider these things; as a man Christ had to "learn" as it were obedience and therefore God exalted Him. This is in regard to ruling and reigning on the earth but certainly it can't be emphasized enough that because of His atonement we can now be seated in heavenly places and Satan is already defeated. We see His sufferings and it is hard to handle the sorrow that it brings knowing that we put Him there and He had to experience separation from God and our sins for He who never knew sin. Therefore; there surely is no excuse for any arrogance on our part or lack of dependence on the Lord as He purchased us from the slave market where we were doomed to hell and we are now adopted sons of God ( Eph. 1:5).
Let us consider several ways He intercedes in regard to prayer. I have already considered our sinful nature and fleshly desires that may confuse our minds when approaching the Lord in prayer. There are also limitations we have as to intellectual unnderstanding of situations around us; and finally we don't know what is best for others of His ways.
In 1 Timothy 2:1-8, Paul is giving instruction concerning prayer. In Verse 1, it says I encourage therefore, and it lists four things: supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
When he says for all men, he goes on to say in Verse 2, "For kings, and for all who are in authority." Please keep in mind that when Paul is writing this, Nero was in charge. Paul says pray for the kings and pray for everybody that's in authority.
Verse 2 tells us that the reason why we should pray for everybody is so that we can live in peace. How do we as believers today make the connection? Well, instead of bad-mouthing government, instead of protesting, we are to pray for them.
Verse 3 tells us that this is the type of thing that God wants us to be doing in prayer. All the evil people, and all the bad leaders, we are to pray for them, not be against them.
The reason why this is the right thing to do and why it is acceptable to God is given to us in Verses 4 through 6.
It is God's desire for everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Even the people that we don't like, and all the people that we don't agree with, we are to pray for them.
According to Jesus in John Chapter 7, the Holy Spirit has been given to convict the world of judgment and of sin, and of the righteousness which will come. So, we can and should pray for the evil ones of the world and pray that God's Spirit will convict them of their need of Christ.
That doesn't assure that they're going to be saved. But our number one concern for all people should be not to badmouth them because of the kind of people that they are, or because they are evil, but to pray for them.
Why? Because God wants to see all people come to know Christ and to the knowledge of the truth. God wants everybody to come to that knowledge.
1 Timothy 2:12 - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
Two things: I do not allow a woman to teach. There's one. It doesn't say anything about men. Nor, to usurp authority over the man, which is why they shouldn't teach. The term usurp authority over the man, usurp authority is the word authenticate. It means that the woman is not to take the authenticity of man, what the male was created to do.
In the church, God has raised up the men to do the praying and the doctrinal teaching. We find out in Titus that the women are to take the younger women and teach them how to keep their home and love their husband and raise their children. A woman is not to teach, nor to take the authenticity of man, don't take over for him, but to be in silence. That's just what he said. They are to learn in silence.
1 Timothy 3:1 - This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
Paul starts out by saying this is a true saying, and the word true is the word faithful. This is a faithful saying. Paul uses that phrase several times in his letters. The reason he does is because they had no New Testament in those times. Whenever they talked about the scriptures, it was always the Old Testament, or the Tanak, the Hebrew scripture.
Here is something I would like to share before going through this chapter. In Verses 1 through 7, we have the instruction concerning overseers. The King James text uses the word bishop. And the word is EPISKOPOS, where we get our word Episcopalian from. EPI is over, and SKOPOS is to scope (to see). So, he's an EPI-over SKOPOS-seer. He's an overseer.
In Acts Chapter 20, the overseer is also interchangeable with elder and with pastor. The overseer is the head officer in the church. And that's what he is responsible for. He is responsible for the overseeing of the church, to make sure it functions in the order that God has it in.
Well, he's talking to women to become sober in your thinking. Think the way God thinks. See it the way God sees it. If not, then your mind is being influenced by some kind of "mental alcohol" that comes from the world.
Then he says not with broided, or braided hair. Now here's where the legalists get into this. Sometimes you'll see groups that are different from other religious groups because they follow this. This has to do with that in those times, the women would braid their hair and then wrap it up into what used to be called a "beehive," and then they would weave jewelry in and out of it. And then they would go to church. Now, do you think you would notice them?
But you see, that's the whole point here. With braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly garments. But be presentable in that which becomes women who profess godliness that they belong to God, through good works. The word good is spiritual good. In essence, what he's saying is don't be a distraction. Don't try to "gussy" yourself up to look your absolute best so that people would notice you.
On the other hand, don't try to dress as lousy as you can so that people notice you. People are going to notice you and be distracted from the purpose of being there, which is to learn of the Lord and worship Him and have fellowship together.
1 Timothy 2:9 - In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
There's a lot packed into this verse so I think I'll skip it. No, just kidding! I'll try my best to break this one down and share with you, my understanding.
In like manner also, meaning as the men were to raise holy hands, so women are to be holy in like manner. That women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety;
To adorn means to dress, and in the Greek text, it's the word for cosmetics. To put on an appearance would be a good general description of what he's saying here. In modest apparel. That is something that's orderly, acceptably, decent. In modest apparel, with shamefacedness. That's an old English word representing the Greek word that has to do with orderly or Godly fear.
Something we don't have in our culture today is shamefacedness, people who are ashamed of the clothes that they wear out in public. It's the old "Everybody does it, who cares?" And you would think that they would be self-conscious, but they're not. This has to do with a fear of God, let alone an embarrassment with people. Modest apparel with Godly fear, and sobriety, and this has nothing to do with alcohol. It's the Greek word for mental sobriety.
The arguments that we get back against such a teaching as this comes from our culture. People whose minds have been drunk with some kind of philosophy that says "Oh, you holier than thou people," talking about the way people dress.
1 Timothy 2:8 - I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Therefore I will, and that's the word BOULOMAI. I council (determine), that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and without doubting. The emphasis of the text is men. Specifically, Paul uses the word that means male, a man, not people but a man. In the public assembly of the church, men are to do the praying.
Secondly, they are to pray lifting up holy hands. Some of you may have seen people praising or praying with their hands up. This is one of the texts that they use. Well, it's actually a Hebraism that has to do with when you pray, make sure that your hands are clean. You either do good things or bad things with your hands. In other words, don't have dirty hands when you pray.
You have a clean conscience and open conscience to God, because it explains what it means, with holy hands, that are without wrath and without doubting. Anger is wrath, and doubting against God. So, you must be holy. And it must be men in the public assembly of the church.
1 Timothy 1:16 - Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
The word longsuffering, MAKROTHUMIA, means slow in human reaction. If it's from God, it means slow in reaction of judgment. Paul is presenting himself as saying the only reason that God saved me is because I was the worst of sinners, and by having mercy on me, God could show just how long He goes with people before He brings judgment, and how much mercy He has on people that call out for mercy, and how much His grace is poured out with faith and love which belongs to Christ.
1 Timothy 1:19 - Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
Here, Paul shares what is called a Modal Participle. It describes for us what it means to fight the good warfare. Holding faith, and a good conscience; Continually hold onto faith in Christ, and a good conscience before God. That's all you have to worry about. You don't have to worry about how people are going to treat you. You stand up for the Lord and you stand up for the truth.
Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith they have made shipwreck: Some people's confession of faith in Christianity, they've made a shipwreck out of it.
1 Timothy 2:7 - Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, I am not lying;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and in verity. That's the word truth. So, he says this is the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles, no matter who they are, that Christ died for your sins. If you'll turn to him, you'll come to know the truth.
God will take away some of our gifts and replace it with the word of truth.
1 Corinthians 13:8
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shallcease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
We now have the word of truth .
1 Corinthians 13:10
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall bedoneaway.
Apostle Paul wants us to pray in the Holy Spirit.
Praying always with allprayerand supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
We should always gift thanks to the Father in Heaven before we ask .
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing byprayerand supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
We should pray to do no evil.
2 Corinthians 13:7
Now Iprayto God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
We should pray for knowledge.
Philippians 1:9
And this Ipray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
We should pray always everyday.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Praywithout ceasing.
God want us to pray for everything in life.
1 Timothy 2:8
I will therefore that menprayevery where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Apostle Paul writes about the gathering in the clouds with Jesus Christ and the saved dead saints will rise first in Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the deadinChristshall rise first:
Always give thanks in Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Inevery thing give thanks: for this is the will of GodinChristJesus concerning you.
Apostle Paul is a preacher, a teacher and a Apostle in Christ.
1 Timothy 2:7
Where unto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truthinChrist, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentilesinfaith and verity.
Deacons are in Christ.
1 Timothy 3:13
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldnessinthe faith which isinChristJesus.
No body knew before the world began, that Apostle Paul was going to be given a revelation in Christ about the gospel of grace .
2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given usinChristJesus before the world began,
Apostle Paul is giving Timothy instructions for men to become pastors in the church. Apostle Paul never mentioned a woman to becoming a pastor. Bishop means pastor.
1 Timothy 3:1-7
1 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
When it comes to becoming a Bishop in the body of the church, it best to have a wive and husband with kids.
Ephesians 5:22-25
22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
The husband needs to love the wife, like Christ loves the body of the church.
Apostle Paul is my Apostle, my Preacher and my Teacher in Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
1 Timothy 2:7
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles infaithand verity.
Please read Romans through Philemon for doctrine and pray continually everyday for God to speak to you.
I'm assuming by what you have written in this thread that you are a single woman, or perhaps you are asking who a woman with no husband is supposed to ask (in response to 1 Corinthians 14:35). In this case, if a woman with no husband has questions during the service, why can't they ask the pastor afterwards? That's who they should be asking.
If you don't mind my asking, are you a pastor? And if I may ask a few more questions, in 1 Corinthians 14:34, women are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. Can you tell me what law this is referring to? Can you please share your understanding of 1 Timothy 2:11-12? What qualities must a pastor possess? Lastly, as far a church function, God has given us His order. Can you tell me what that order is?
Finally, I would like to say that all believers are equal, both men and women, but they have different functions and responsibilities. Does God use women to preach the gospel? Yes, but they are not to be placed in a position of authority over the men in the church. Regardless of what we think about this topic, the bible is clear that women are not allowed to be pastors!
I am sorry that you are unable to find 1 Timothy 2:11,12 - I don't think my repeating that Scripture any more will help you, except to drag this out unnecessarily. When you find it, you can maybe share what you read there.
And I don't understand what you mean by writing, "I don't have a husband so who am I supposed to ask?" Ask what? If you had a question about what is written in the Bible or even having to make a decision over a matter in your life, as a single person, as with any person (married or single), we need to first seek the Lord's Face & learn from His Word for help. Approaching your Elder or Pastor would also be the best informed people to advise you, since they would be aware of your status & needs. And it is a very good thing that you are sharing Christ with others - there's no contradiction from the Word on that, but when in a Church meeting, the Apostle Paul made the matter very clear.
You mentioned 1 Timothy chap 3 (of elders & deacons), or even Titus chap 1 (of elders), but forgot to mention the one we quoted ( 1 Timothy 2:11,12): "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer (permit) not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."
Here we have a clear directive that a woman within the Church gathering must not teach nor exercise authority (or 'to be in dominion': Greek) over the brothers in the Church. There can be no dispute over these clear words. And to Acts chap 10 (that Gentiles can also be a part of the Church, with the vision/message given to Peter of unclean animals); yes, all are accepted equally (Jew, Gentile, Man or Woman), but only certain are permitted to function in Christ's Church in their order & by appointment by Church elders. This is what God's Word declares and stands firm & any other ideas or preferences to the contrary matter very little. GBU.
Just to clarify, Evangelist1. The reference to Joel 2:28 & what the Apostle Peter referenced to in his preaching in Acts 2:18, was Israel-specific. I'm not at all suggesting that the spirit of Prophecy, & other gifts, have not been designated to Christ's Church as well, but those references were (& are) for Israel only (as in "your sons" & "your daughters"). When you read Joel 2:28-32, the message is clearly directed to Israel's future repentance & deliverance before that great & awful Day of the Lord arrives. That is still in the future for them & the world.
So, how does that translate to Pentecost Day & the Church in the NT & present? It is certain that the Holy Spirit has given 'gifts' to the Lord's people, and prophetical utterances are one of them (as we see in Acts 11:28; Acts 13:1; Acts 21:9,10,11; and by John the Revelator). In whatever way & location, today in the Church, there has been given an order to be followed. And we see this in 1 Corinthians 11:3 and 1 Timothy 2:11-13. As much as the world might want & demand total equality amongst the sexes, which is not wrong at all for we are all created equal; yet in His Church, Christ has ordained a specific order in leadership & Church operation. And we can't call upon OT examples of women leaders or judges as justification for sisters leading & teaching within the Church; simply because the nation of unsaved Israel does not equate to the saved Body of Christ. We must always be mindful of not letting the teachings of the world & personal inclinations impose on what Christ requires of His people. GBU.
The thrust of what Paul is getting across in 1 Timothy 2:4 is that we should never forsake praying for someone because they belong to a certain class, group, or culture. No "tribe" is too far from God that He cannot save them, so pray with all diligence for God to move His sovereign hand and save."
And finally, I include this excerpt from John Piper:
If "all people" refers to every person without exception, then universalism is our conclusion only if God's desire to save is absolute. But the Lord desires one thing more than the salvation of all - His glory ( Isa. 48:11). In one sense, God can truly want all who have ever lived to be saved; however, this desire always defers to His will to glorify Himself, the will in view when the Bible says His will is always done. The Lord is glorified when sin is punished in hell, and so God's supreme desire is met even when people are not redeemed.
At this point, I will take this up in a day or two to give time for readers to consider this question for themselves. Then I will continue with how I understand this topic.
The subtext of the entire book of Romans is the division that is occurring in the church between Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians. It takes a vision from heaven with God coercing Peter to be okay with entering into a Gentile household and sharing the gospel with Cornelius in Acts 10 (see also Acts 6; Gal 3:28; Eph 2:11-22).
For centuries and centuries, Jewish people were told that their people, children of Abraham, were God's chosen people. And if anyone wanted to enter into a saving relationship with Yahweh, they had to first become Jewish. Further, there was a deep animosity that ran between Jews and Gentiles in the first century. It would have been similar to the way a Southerner would have viewed a Northerner shortly after the Civil War. There was deep distrust and anger, not to mention a wide cultural distance between the two groups.
Now, after the death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah, Jesus, it didn't matter whether you were Jewish, Greek, Scythian, or slave ( Col 3:11). All that mattered was your relationship with Jesus, and Jesus was open and available to any and all cultures, ethnicities, and tribes.
Therefore, when Paul is explaining that God desires "all people" to be saved he is not referring to all people without exception (every individual), but to all people without distinction (every kind) to be saved. Don't think that you shouldn't pray for those emperors or governors ( 1 Tim 2:2) just because they are Roman or Greek-pray for all people; God desires people from every tribe, tongue, and nation to be gathered around His throne ( Rev 5:9-10).
In Conclusion
I personally find the "all persons without distinction" argument to be more satisfactory than the "two wills of God" interpretation in 1 Timothy 2:4. I do affirm classic doctrine of the two wills of God, I just don't think that is the main point Paul is trying to make here in 1 Timothy.
3.Arminianism. This is a Christian perspective that understands that God knows the future and is in control, yet for God to have an authentic relationship with us He cannot impinge upon our choices-our "free-will" must be preserved. So, God desires all people to be saved, yet not everyone is saved because not all choose to be saved. (The name "Arminianism" comes from Jacob Arminius, a Dutch theologian who rebelled against the standard teaching of the church back in the late 16th century.)
4.Augustinian/Reformed. This is a Christian perspective that would understand that an individual's salvation is entirely dependent on the Lord. Our decisions and choices are real and we are held accountable for them, yet apart from the Lord's intervening work, none of us would choose God, thus it is God's prior choice of us that determines our response.
The reason that "all" are not saved is because God has not determined that "all" will be saved. (The name "Reformed" comes from the Protestant Reformation which occurred in the early 16th century, especially the tradition that followed John Calvin's teaching. "Augustinian" comes from the 5th century church father, Augustine of Hippo, who expounded this classic position clearly in his writings.)
A Reformed Understanding of 1 Timothy 2:4
Between the two Christian options given to us, it would seem like the Reformed tradition has the biggest problem with making sense of this verse. In fact, 1 Timothy 2:4 is a traditional proof-text that Arminians will typically run to when trying to discredit Reformed theology. So, how can those of the Reformed tradition make sense of this verse? If the Reformed believe that not all are saved because God has not elected all to be saved (see Rom 9:14-23), then how does 1 Timothy 2:4 make any sense at all? Doesn't the passage plainly say that God "desires all people to be saved"?
Even though it was God's will for Jesus to suffer and die, accountability still fell on those responsible for His death, as highlighted in ( Mark 14:21).
God's dispositional will reflects His attitude and what pleases or displeases Him. For instance, ( 1 Timothy 2:4) reveals God's desire for all to be saved and know the truth. This illustrates God's disposition towards the lost, emphasizing His desire for their salvation. Despite God's universal desire for salvation, not everyone chooses to accept it.
There is a distinction between God's dispositional will and His sovereign will.
In essence, the will of God comprises three elements: 1) God's sovereign will is manifested in His unchangeable decrees. He decreed that there be light, and there was light. , ( Genesis 1:3)-an illustration of His efficacious decree.
He permitted Satan to afflict Job And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. , ( Job 1:12)-an instance of His permissive decree. 2) God's revealed will is found in His precepts, provided to us so that we may live in holiness. We have the capacity (but not the right) to violate these commands. 3) God's dispositional will is His attitude. Sometimes, God ordains something that does not bring Him pleasure, such as the death of the wicked as seen in Ezekiel 33:11."

I'm finally settled in for the night and thanks again for responding!
I viewed your thoughts and I have a few things I would like you to consider.
I portioned them out and would like to address them separately.
1) You stated; We know they were made very good as part of everything made in the sixth day. I would believe that having been made very good they had a covering at least by the hand of God himself by His image.
Having been placed in the garden to dress and keep it was also good and they had all that they needed.
My thoughts;
"When God says that it was good he's not talking about Adam's spiritual condition! God mentioned the same thing about the light, the seas, the grass and the herb, the cattle, the creeping things, the two great lights to rule over the day and night, and on and on until he finished his creation.
As for setting him in the garden of Eden. Well that didn't work out.
2) Continuing your quote;
"And yet nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature rather than being obedient to the Word of the Father himself.
My thoughts;
You said nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature.
However, In Genesis 2:25
Adam was naked BEFORE he listened to the voice of his wife.
Also Adam wasn't deceived by Satan according to 1 Timothy 2:14.
Adam made the decision to disobey God!
The decision process comes before the act.
He wasn't created perfect and the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil opened his eyes to that.
There's only one perfect being to walk here on earth and that's God himself manifested in the flesh!
Hello Tdianne. As Jaz shared, purgatory is a teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, where the belief is, "All who die in God's grace, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven" (according to the RC Catechism). So, they believe there is a place of purification & refining 'just short of Heaven' for those Christians who have died still with sin stains & in need of cleansing to enter Heaven.
This belief primarily comes from the Apocryphal Book 2 Maccabees 12:38-45, where Judas Maccabeus, a Jew, went to bury those of his men fallen in battle. But he found idolatrous items under those men which he believed was the reason for their death. So prayer was made for them that their sin would be forgiven and also took up an offering (of money) to be sent to Jerusalem as a sin offering. Judas believed that by doing these things, these fallen sinful men of his company might have a better chance of eternal life. We have no way of confirming this account as it is never referred to in the Bible we have, but since this book (and others) are in the canon of RC Scriptures, they accept it.
This account then gives them the directive that prayer for the dead & making penance for their souls is necessary. But what is not taken into account, is that what Maccabeus did was not what was prescribed by the LORD & should be discarded. So, it is important that we stick very closely with the Bible we have & not resort to spurious material - and especially the apocryphal writings written by often unknown writers in those 400 silent years where no prophecy was given from the LORD.
Hebrews 9:27 clearly tells us that after death comes judgement & nothing in-between. That Christ fully paid the price for our sins & stands as our Mediator in Heaven if we sin & seek Him for forgiveness ( 1 Timothy 2:5) - we can do nothing now to help those who have died.
Thank you, there is a lot in the first books of Genesis looking at the first 3 chapters. We look for the understanding and what does it mean that Adam was not deceived but it was Eve who was deceived by the serpent, 1 Timothy 2:14 and 2 Corinthians 11:3. We cannot begin to comprehend the plan of God. To Him, things that are not, are already done, the gifts and grace He gives are predestined to all who will accept the gifts He offered before the world was.
We live in a time when our life is so short we sometimes struggle to even imagine what eternity will be like. But our faith and our hope are in Jesus by Him we are brothers and sisters and the children of God and one day we will be with Him on a new earth that our imaginations cannot even picture.
There is only one mediation between God and man; the atonement made by the man Jesus Christ.
-- 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV For there is one God, and ONE MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD AND MEN, THE MAN CHRIST JESUS;
(Part 1):
In 1 Timothy 2:1-8, Paul is giving instruction concerning prayer. In Verse 1, it says I encourage therefore, and it lists four things: supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
When he says for all men, he goes on to say in Verse 2, "For kings, and for all who are in authority." Please keep in mind that when Paul is writing this, Nero was in charge.
Please see Part 2...
1 Timothy 2:9 Contiued:
1 Timothy 2:9 - In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
There's a lot packed into this verse so I think I'll skip it. No, just kidding! I'll try my best to break this one down and share with you, my understanding.
In like manner also, meaning as the men were to raise holy hands, so women are to be holy in like manner. That women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety;
Does God heal today ? ?
God will take away some of our gifts and replace it with the word of truth.

1 Timothy 3:1-7
1 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
The husband needs to love the wife, like Christ loves the body of the church.
Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Let the gospel of grace change your life.
(Part 2):
GBU.
GBU.
Pt. 10
Pt. 9

See Pt. 7
Pt. 4

My thoughts;
2) Continuing your quote;
"And yet nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature rather than being obedient to the Word of the Father himself.
My thoughts;
God bless.
God bless,
