All praise to our great God and King!

This chapter tells of a new famine in the area where Isaac was living, between Beer-Sheba and Gerar in the Negev. appears and speaks to Isaac. It is not known if He has done so before or if this is the first time. Abraham has died, but it is very likely that he had shared with Isaac the great promises and covenant that God had made with him and his descendants. Isaac knew the promises would continue through himself.

The famine is at least 100 years after the last one when Abraham went to Egypt for relief from the famine. Isaac goes to see King Abimelech, (probably not the one Abraham went to see). The name, Abimelech may have been used as a title. It means, "My father is king." This may be a descendant of the Abimelech Abraham visited 75+ years before. It is interesting that the verse says that Abimelech was the king of the Philistines. Some archeological evidence suggest that that the Philistines came from the area of the Aegean Sea around 1300 B.C. This event happened centuries before 1300 B.C. In Abraham's encounter with King Abimelech , the text said the area was inhabited by Hittites. So, it was probably the same in Isaac's encounter. It seems that along the way, God appears to Isaac, telling him not to go down to Egypt, like his father did in the last famine, but, instead, to dwell in this land. God promises to be with Isaac and to bless him because Isaac and his descendants are to have all these lands. God promises to perform the same oath that He swore to Abraham and the same promise. This is due to Abraham's obedience to God, keeping His charge, His commandments, my statures, and God's laws. We have not an account of when God proscibed these mentioned, but evidently, God had instructed Abraham about how he shall live before God and worship Him, but the overarching obedience of Abraham was that he lived by faith in God. I wonder if these are the commandments given to Noah after the flood, along with circumcision.

I am sure there are many more ideas out there concerning helps to Scripture memorization. One thing I forgot to add that I know is also effective is for a person to practice writing the verse out by hand. I suggest writing it out each day for a week and then try to write it from memory, checking it with what was written before and making any changes and/or additions until it is complete, the next day repeat this process until you can write it correctly from memory.

If the verse is lengthy or a person is memorizing a paragraph or section, I suggest learning it piece by piece, dividing it up into logical phrase breaks, and follow the writing tasks above. When a section is learned, then begin writing the the previously learned section and add a new phrase. Writing is a very good brain activity because it is kinesthetic, more so than typing. As a person writes, they naturally recheck the word or several words to be sure they are correct. I suggest using a spiral notebook for this so that the journey of writing a verse from memory can be reviewed, and the person can discover any words that they seem to be get stuck on consistently.

Sometimes I feel we're on a 'need to know' basis: GOD reveals many things as we need to know. Sometimes I've wondered about something & right away GOD's given me the answers. Other times it was years. Sometimes I've read scripture then another time reading, something powerful is revealed that I hadn't noticed beforehand or the fact my circumstances have changed giving me deeper understanding. I will also pray you have deeper understanding. Philippians 1:6,

I would like to point out however the correlation between Psalm 22, Isaiah 53, & the Gospels Matthew Mark Luke & John are insightful to me understanding it to be prophetic. Isaiah 52:7-14,

Hi Stanley. 'Dukes' as in Genesis 36:15ff, is from a the Latin word 'dux', which means 'a leader or a chieftan'. In Hebrew, as we have it here in Genesis is the word, 'alluwph', signifying 'a tribal prince'. So, even though 'dux' (or, duke) is used as a leader or a military head, we see it also used in schools, as in 'dux of the class', or the leading student because of his/her educational prowess.

I know we don't know the day or hour , we also know that parts of the world will be living as normal , marrying and giving in marriage , as it was in the days of Noah . The return of Christ and the end of humans using and abusing each other , oppressing and treading on each other is my biggest desire and comfort . To know that these kingdoms of men will be stopped in their tracks for ever , to know that no one will be hungry or thirsty or afraid or lonely or feel unloved or be ignorant of God's love and Jesus's love for them , for us . These are the precious truths that keep me going as I continue to live in this cold , dark miserable world . This is hard to wrap our minds around, Christ has a body that can exist IN MAN, or stand in the presents of man.

It's even harder to wrap our minds around the fact that we ALSO are going to have this SAME BODY.

This is what the thousand year reign with Christ is all about. The thousand years are not LITERALLY ONE THOUSAND YEARS, but one day (DAY OF THE LORD which has been happening now for two thousand years) is as a thousand years and a thousand years as on day ( 2 Peter 3:8).

Matthew 20:1-16 Christ went out at the first of the day (of the Lord) to call workers to his vineyard.

This would apply to all those that were apostles and received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

When they departed their terrestrial bodies they were given celestial bodies and they are still working in God's vineyard ( Revelation 10:11)( John 1:51)( Genesis 28:12).

If God's people do not repent of them sins then there will be those who by refusal of repentance fall away and they that is when the man of sin, the son of perdition, the real anti-Christ will present himself on the world's stage. The Third Temple is very close to being built one day. It may happen in the next billion, or thousands, maybe a hundred years or less, I do not know for sure when that event will take place, but we are on the precipice of Jesus Christ soon return.

Hi sasha Some clarification we who believe whether we are asleep i.e. dead or alive what is our Hope is the gathering together as stated in thessalonians when he returns to pick us up and we receive a body like His totally incorruptible glorious body that is our hope because you cannot believe for Him to return sooner that's in Gods Hands That's why it's the hope of the return and this will transpire before the tribulation. We will not be involved in the wrath to come which is Gods judgement on all unbelief. Prayerfully this helps.

There are 3 scriptures in the Bible naming China, Mid East and Northern Africa as plague origins. This means we have to deal with this. Plagues, Pestilence and Pandemics. The WHO has regularly tested new meds on African people. You can find those stories on google like I did.

I think cleanliness is the biggest defense. Do not buy any meat from China. We may have to buy meat from local butchers. Not Walmart. No sushi unless it's a local grower. Wash everything in water with a splash of bleach. It's not dangerous. They put it in tap water. Wash raw fruit, potatoes and other stuff. That has to be helpful? I do it.

Hi John, what an excellent question. I'm very interested to watch the answers. I believe one of the intents of this pandemic and the shot is to set people against each other. Jesus paid the full price for our salvation and for unity. I think of third John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. I believe the precious Spirit of God in you will give you the exact words each time ( Luke 21:14 & 15) and your knowledge and kindness will ad weight to the conversation. I was in a conversation lately and both of us us agreed that we will NOT comply with the shot, when a bystander jumped in accusing and ugly. The Spirit had me hold my tongue completely. I was reminded how the high priest used mob mentality to have our LORD crucified. Also the media and those that push it are doing a good job of inciting fear. 2Tim1:7. Our challenge is to stay sweet and trusting ( We have a great Savior who loves us and can handle everything) and give others space ( even to be wrong :)). Proverbs 15:1. God's blessing on this day. Hi Jessie Hill Something I keep in mind the spirit in us is perfect we do not sin walking by the spirit but the flesh is weak and the mind is in the category of the flesh, therefore the battle is in the mind putting on the mind of christ to control the flesh to walk by the spirit. Committing sin is not just having a thought it is the carrying out in action of the thought. Now if you dwell or constantly think of negative stuff its just a matter of time before an individual carries out what there dwelling on because eventually they will believe it in there heart. Proverbs Guard thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. Whether its positive or negative anything an individual dwells on or thinks about enough they will eventually become or do. Guard your mind Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23-32, Philippians 4:8, Colossians 3:1-14 2 Corinthians 10:5. Prayerfully this helps.

Hi Chris My explanation was incomplete my apology, Pauls ministry was to the gentiles in Acts 20:22 it says he went bound in the spirit not caring whether he lived or died basically bound is determined but was it his determination not Gods Will because God will not tell you to go somewhere to be killed, so in context I see God intervening through other believers to keep Paul out of the soup. Keep something in mind. the jews zealous for the law wanted paul dead after his conversion and at times followed where he went to talk converted followers out of there belief.
