I very much like a series on YouTube of Oral Roberts teaching the Book of Revelation. He reads along, makes comment and it flows.

I lived in Tulsa and heard the vicious gossip. He had a vision to build a college where students were always exposed to the Word of God.

The Scriptures have much toSay about 'theDay ofThe LORD,' but precisely whatisTheDay ofThe LORD?

Generally speaking, of course, it refers to the time when the day of man, or "the timesof the Gentiles," will be brought to an end, and "The LORD AloneShallBeExalted"

(Isaiah2:11,17; Isa 2:11; Isa 2:17; Isa 2:11, 17). But will it include more than the actual Return andReign of CHRIST?

Thus the Apostle Paul, after writing about the Rapture of the Body in 1 Thessalonians 4, continues in Chapter 5 with The Word "But," to show the disrelation of God's prophesied 'times and seasons' and 'The Day of The LORD,' From That Blessed Day {Of CHRIST 2 Th 2:2, et al}, for which every believer should be "looking, waiting, And watching!"...

1Thes. 5:2; 2Pet. 3:10; thief in the night = The personal and timing designations of this expression implies secrecy and un-expectancy. CHRIST's Coming will take the world by surprise. Even CHRIST suggested the world, and often GOD's own people, will have little or no expectancy of HIS Coming (Lu. 18:8). Review CHRIST's parable of the Goodman and the Thief (Lu. 12:39-40).

At least six times, Scriptures compare CHRIST's Second Coming as "a thief in the night" ( Mt. 24:43; Lu. 12:39; 1Thes. 5:2; 2Pet. 3:10; Rev. 3:3; 16:15). The world will view CHRIST's Coming as a "thief" because thieves:

+ work secretly ( Mt. 24:43),

+ steal that which is not his ( Mt. 6:19),

+ most often work during the cover of night's darkness ( Mt. 27:64),

+ stealthily surprise their victims ( Jn. 12:6), and

+ are prone to resort to violence if/when discovered ( Jn. 10:10).

The world will apply these same characteristics to CHRIST's Second Coming (the "Day of The LORD"). When CHRIST returns, HE will do so:

+ unannounced and suddenly,

+ taking the lives and possessions of the world from them which they consider their own,

+ during the world's most ignorant period of spiritual darkness,

+ coming as a complete and immediate surprise to the unprepared,

+ with great, indescribable, and unopposed violence.

Comparing CHRIST's Second Coming to the "thief" also appropriately justifies CHRIST's treatment of the world during that Day. Those who arrested CHRIST did so as they that "come out as against a thief with swords and staves" ( Mt. 26:55; Mk. 14:48; Lu. 22:52). They also crucified CHRIST between two thieves, placing CHRIST as the most notorious of the thieves ( Mt. 27:38; Mk. 15:27).

If the world treats CHRIST as a thief, CHRIST will rob the world using the same characteristics as a thief.

(continued) 1Thes. 5:2; 2Pet. 3:10 = Obviously, the expression "in the night" does not confine the "Day of The LORD" to literal darkness of the night season, for half of the earth's globe is always experiencing daylight. The expression, "in the night", describes the general character of the secrecy and un-expectancy in which thieves work.

Interestingly and thief-like, CHRIST linked the "night" season with many of HIS events:

+ JESUS CHRIST came the first time in birth "by night" unannounced to all except the shepherds (Lu. 2:8-11);

+ "HIS Star" guided the wise men to "the house (not to HIS manger!) where the Young CHILD was" ( Mt. 2:2, 9-10);

+ HIS parents spirited HIM into Egypt "by night" after Joseph's "dream" ( Mt. 2:14);

+ CHRIST often reserved the "night" for prayer (Lu. 6:12).

+ The Jews arrested CHRIST during the darkness of night;

+ "Darkness" overshadowed the crucifixions of CHRIST and the two thieves ( Mt. 27:45; Mk. 15:33; Lu. 23:44); and

+ CHRIST arose from HIS tomb during the darkness of night.

It would be interesting to hear thoughts of readers, who believe GOD reveals all mysteries, to HIS bride, before the catching away of 1Thes.4-15-16.

How and when the Seven Seals will be opened, by Whom, as it surely shall be done before satan takes complete control of this planet?

We know we are now in satan's Eden, the confusion, contention, chaos amongst all denominations is evidence of that, so what has GOD, Who already has defeated Lucifer, on the cross, got in store for Christians?

There are the wise and the foolish virgins; what is going to separate them?

Why are all denominations coming together, under one head, the Vatican, contrary to all logic?

I'm with you, Richard. I have been a Christian all my life, and have never spoken with 'tongues', but we do know that satan also can speak with ongues and duplicate every gift of the Spirit, except discerning the thoughts of the heart, which is Heb.4:11, butwe also know Paul stated that the 'gifts' will fade away, so, why concentrate on that rather than a continuing revelation of Christ, Who is here, now, Col.1:27, in each of His children.

Yes, some may have a gift of tongues, others a gift of healing, but we need ensure we are expressing Christ, through our daily walk, being living examples of the standard our Lord Jesus demonstrated for us!

As this has come up here before and I have been labeled a "heretic" by another. Tonight going through my Bible a verse came up that I would just like to post which would answer a question of "give me one verse where someone received the Holy Ghost and did not speak in other tongues or languages".

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Not that I need this verse to prove to any other person I have received the Spirit of Christ. Just that I feel bad for others who may be shunned and denounced if they do not speak in "tongues". Told by others they have not received the Holy Ghost unless they do. Which is false. Speaking in another language or "tongue" is just one of many gifts from God.

"The Day of The Lord" is not the Rapture.

The Rapture is first for the Church (not to be confused with Catholic). Christ will announce His arrival with a mighty trump. I'm thinking it's going to be loud, and people will see it and watch, but maybe only we see Him and hear. He will come with the clouds and we will go up to meet him. He calls us up. Believers who are alive will be taken to Heaven. He is the Bridegroom and the Church is the Bride so when you see this reference that's our turn. We have the Wedding Feast prepared and it is joyous and we are ready to get out of this horrible place. I am going to be watching from safety, because the horrors that are coming are hard to accept. I'm trying not to be excited for Everyone should be figuring it out because we are speeding up! Does anyone feel it?

The Day of The Lord is when He comes like a thief in the night. Everyone is evil and feeling content and there is peace, peace and then sudden destruction.

Sunday, by the gracing of the Holy Spirit, let us see if the Spirit can clarify the words in Psalms 8:3-6. First let us clarify whose words are spoken by the psalmist. II Samuel 23:1-2 Now these be the last words of David, David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, (vs) 2 The spirit of the Lord (God) spake by me (David), and his (Gods) word was in my (Davids) tongue. God is speaking the words in the psalms not David. Psalms 8:3-6 When I (Jesus) consider thy (Gods) heavens (literal and symbolic of us), the work of thy (Gods) fingers, the moon (literal and symbolic of Jesus) and the stars (literal and symbolic of angels), which thou (God) hast ordained; (vs) 4 What is man (us) that thou (God) are mindful of him (us)? and the son of man (Jesus) that thou (God) visitest him (Jesus)? For thou (God) hast made him (Jesus in the flesh) a little lower than the angles (messengers of Spirit), and (God) has crowned him (Jesus) with glory and honour. Thou (God) madest him (Jesus) to have dominion over the works of thy (Gods) hands; and thou (God) hast put all things under his (Jesus) feet. Jesus has dominion over all things not us. May the Spirit grace you with his words.

It is God's will for us to be thankful because He knows that it is good for us to have an attitude of thankfulness towards Him. When we have a thankful attitude and an attitude of appreciation for Him and what He does for us, it does not leave much room for ingratitude in our lives.In reading Psalm 8:3-6, we can see ourselves in perspective to God's creation:When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man, that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet. God has given us-humanity-dominion over the things that He has created. And beyond that, out of all humanity, we have been given a tremendous responsibility to develop righteous character and have the potential of living eternally in His Kingdom. This thought alone should help us to be thankful each day.

I believe the sudden destruction will be caused by the "rapture"(harpazo) that Paul writes about.

Greetings Dwight - I see your point. If indeed Calvin did teach that some men could not be saved. I do not really know what Calvin taught. I know he was involved with the Geneva Bible.

What does the Bible say about certain people and their salvation? Let us turn to the scriptures.

Esau rejected the things of God, this is a long study, and as such God rejected him. Can you imagine God said he hated Esau?

Esau married two Hittite women who were of the Canaanite tribes which the Lord had forbidden Israel to do.
