I think we have to let the HolyGhost work in the church today and get back to what's pleasing to God,The Spiritual Gits are needed to edify The Body of Christ but need to be used in order!

Some strange comments here; namely, Billy's re "woman was the first to sin so god made man over woman." Hmmmm it's so unfortunate that "christian" guys always want to start at the place of sin. First: God made woman from man's side to show equality, not from the bottom of his foot, nor from the top of his head. When there was no sin, there was no prediction by God that woman was to be ruled by men, that was just the consequence of sin, not how God created male and female at the first. At the first, there was total equality. Then, when Eve did eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Adam should have stepped in, taken the blame, then taken the punishment for his bride's mistake. That's what the Lord Jesus did for His bride--us, the church. (Strange that people have not figured that one out.) Note that when Adam sinned against God the first thing he does is BLAME, BLAME, BLAME . He blames the woman, then blames God for making her! Sin makes "men" cowardly, unmanly, and pretty much unable to think logically without extreme concerted effort. Understand that the life of the flesh is in the blood; that the chromosome in the male sperm makes blood form in the ovum; that because of one man's sin, all have sinful blood coursing through their veins. And that's why Jesus was born without use of the male sperm. Yet He was THE MAN (Indeed, that is what Pontious Pilot said: "Behold the man!")

If you going to teach, and follow the word, then you should not add or take away from it, however, some women would be lost if they ask their husband's,because many men do not have the knowledge. for if it was'nt for women, church attendance would be very bad. God is all, and all is God's George Lane.

Man is the head of woman, christ is the head of the church, and God is the head of christ. Jesus
Disciples were all men no women. Women was the first to sin that is why God made men over women
I beleive that women are to be silent in the congeration they can do ever thing that man does
except teach in the congeration of the church.

In V. 21, Paul directs us to Isa. 28:11-13 on the tongues subject, where the Lord says,"This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing, yet they would not hear". They seemed to prefer "Precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little, that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken". Let's be willing to function in his kingdom by his rules.

    V. 21 directs us to Isaiah 28:11-13 about the gift of tongues. "With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak to this people and yet, for all that, they will not hear me, saith the Lord. Notice the two wills. Our human pride prefers an intellectual "Line upon line, precept upon precept" religion rather than the supernatural interruptions from God. In Isaiah 28.12:13, God tells us that the results of our human organization will be, "falling backwards, being broken, snared and taken. Let's pursue the spiritual principles that God gives through Jesus and beware our religious opinions.

While being cautious and skeptical, I have witnessed in close Christian friends and become convinced that God's Spirit manifests himself today where believers are open to him. I feel that the "unlearned and unbelievers" in this verse, applies to the area of spiritual gifts, rather than to the gospel in general. The following verse indicates that they do attend Christian meetings, but are new to Holy Spirit manifestations. When I heard a message in tongues, through a close friend, at a prayer breakfast, it was certainly a sign to supernatural activity. The prayerful atmosphere was not favorable for enemy involvment. A beautiful interpretation followed by another friend who was given only three words at a time. Please study the passage following v.22 for a discription. Maybe we need to seek God beyond our intelect; He is alive and more than just a belief system.

i truly think that when it was stated that women keep quiet in the church it was to keep down confusion it was not that women could not preach or teach the word of god. god does not discriminate with whom he pours out spiritual gifts....god does not give gifts to woment to sit on them he empowers us with gifts to be used for the purpose in which he gave them to be....

It is interesting that Paul feels women should not be allowed to speak. Women played an important role in Christ's ministry. In fact, if women were to remain silent and only follow the head, how is it that Christ chose women to appear to first after he had risen. They could not have told the other disciples He had risen. I think God would have all preach, praise and witness of His greatness.

I believe it is proof that a woman is not allowed by God to preach or teach men
  • Delores carbaugh on 1 Corinthians 14 - 15 years ago
I believe that woman should only teach children and be in a womans ministry. God's word says that if a women at home should ask her husband. The man is the head of the church and the household.

Christians often believe certain parts of the Bible don't apply today, that they were written only for particular people, a particular culture or a particular time period. Whether women should speak in the church is one that has divided churches- some do it, some don't. There are many other verses in the Bible that one needs to question the applicability of, for instance: circumcision, sacrifices, eating of pork and 'unclean' animals, wearing clothes with mixed thread ( Deuteronomy 22:11), or unusual verses like Deuteronomy 22:29. Paul is the only author in the Bible that speaks of women to be silent in the church and is the same person who says men are better off never getting married. Yet, we know that the very reason God created women was so that we're not lonely, and that he wants us to be married in order to reproduce and populate the earth. So, is Paul a less-credible author in the Bible? We will probably never have the answers in this life.

Why is 1 Cor.14:34 not followed as it should be according to the Bible?
