47And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, then hauing two eyes, to be cast into helfire: 48Where their worme dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 49For euery one shall be salted with fire, and euery sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 50Salt is good: but if the salt haue lost his saltnesse, wherewith will you season it? Haue salt in your selues, and haue peace one with another.

Wesley's Notes for Mark 9:49
9:49 Every one - Who does not cut off the offending member, and consequently is cast into hell, shall be, as it were, salted with fire, preserved, not consumed thereby whereas every acceptable sacrifice shall be salted with another kind of salt, even that of Divine grace, which purifies the soul, (though frequently with pain) and preserves it from corruption.
People's Bible Notes for Mark 9:49
Mr 9:49 For. Our Lord is alluding to the pervading idea of Mr 9:45-48. These sacrifices of hand, foot, eye, must be made; "for"-- every one shall be salted with fire. Fire is used in the Scripture to denote suffering, persecution, trial, distress of any kind. Salt is used to denote permanence, preservation from corruption. "Every one", good and bad, "must suffer".
