1The beginning of the Gospel of Iesus Christ, the Sonne of God, 2As it is written in the Prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 3The voice of one crying in the wildernesse, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 4Iohn did baptize in the wildernesse, and preach the baptisme of repentance, for the remission of sinnes. 5And there went out vnto him all the land of Iudea, and they of Ierusalem, and were all baptized of him in the riuer of Iordane, cōfessing their sinnes.
