Hi Pam. As you know, those Jews that were carried away into Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar remained there until the Persian army, under Cyrus, conquered Babylon. Cyrus was very lenient with the Jews & he gave them permission to return to their homeland. However, only a few did, and others did so over time, under Persian rule. People, like Mordecai & his cousin Hadassah (Esther), were born in captivity & only knew this Babylonian/Persian culture & the Jewish practises that were brought over by their forefathers. So, under Xerxes (Ahasuerus), the story of Mordecai & Esther is given to us. Having mentioned all that, I would think that the Jews living in Persia, who didn't want to return for various reasons (old age, loss of lifestyle/privileges, etc.), continued to perform many of the Jewish practises, as far as they were remembered. Many things would have been forgotten, abandoned, or even inter-mixed with heathen practises, but Israel still maintained their Jewish ancestry and their position before God & sought to follow His regulations.

So, when we read of Esther's call to the Jews of Shushan the palace & her handmaidens to fast ( Esther 4:15-17), I would think that both fasting & prayer were intended (if her helpers were Jews of course). The idea of fasting for the Jew at that time, was linked to deep sense of need & dependence and/or an utter helplessness in the face of calamity (present or anticipated). Also times of mourning, repentance, or a deep spiritual need could prompt fasting & prayer. Of King David we read that he prayed & fasted over his sick child ( 2 Samuel 12:16) coupled with weeping (vv 21,22). And Daniel in Daniel 9:1-19, went a similar way before the Lord with prayer, petition, fasting, in sackcloth & ashes, over the coming destruction of Jerusalem.

Fasting then was a particularly important act of one's seriousness & being cast before the Lord for help. Throughout the fast, this attitude of laying up the matters before God would have occurred.

When we sleep, someone else are awake somewhere else. In this way there will always be someone who praises the Lord for He allows us to rest even between work, struggle and crying. Between work, eat and other necessary things. Jesus fully understands what we can struggle with here on Earth. So in the name of Jesus Christ we get boldness to come to God the Father. And now we can ask the Holy Spirit. For the antichrist was already active in 1 John 2:18-23. Stay close to Gods word, Amen. Take care Jesus loves u i to.

Dear Ruben, I have a word for you today. 1 John 3 chapter. And we pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that He saves you into His kingdom. God the Father who created everything. And knows all our needs. And where He accepts us as we are. We pray in Jesus' name that He gives you strength and words to stand against the devil in Jesus Christ's name, Amen.

He does not first give out His gifts and then take the gifts back. He will always be the same. We are the ones who change. There can be many reasons for that. And if we confess our sins, He will be faithful, He does not change His word. So stand firm, empowered by the truth about life. And if we confess our sins, He will be faithful, He does not change His word. So stand firm, empowered by the truth about life. Clad in the breastplate of justice. Always go in peace. For you walk in the name of Jesus Christ. And fill yourself with the Word every hour if necessary. in the breastplate of justice. Take the help of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray at all times with all prayer and invocation for the saints. Pray also for me says Paul in Ephesians 6:13-19 Amen.

    Hi Anonymous,

"Of myself I can do nothing" is to gain power(a paradox). Our function here should be deciding against what we want, in recognition that we don't know. So, say to the Holy Spirit: "Decide for me"; and it is done, for His decisions are reflections of what God knows about you, and in this Light error of any kind becomes impossible.

Father, Your Will be done. Thank you for your eternal love and patience. Your Kingdom is perfectly united and perfectly protected, and nothing will prevail against It. In the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen"

    Hi Anonymous,

Since I discovered this site, I've read a few comments similar to yours, having hate and disappointment towards God. The hopelessness and depression seems to be all that fills one's world. I, along with others, understand, even though the form of our difficulties vary. After many years exposure and intended dedication to Christianity, I arrived at the point of believing the strong possibility God did not exist, which brought on more depression. I hated nearly everything; particularly myself.

Please be assured, no one can get the power of God and use it to destroy someone; simply because God is Love, and this Love only heals. You are confusing God with fear and hate, which never heals, thus we mistakenly tend to look for an outside source to find and experience love, where it will never be found. This outside source hates us and does not believe that love, NOT fear is really called upon by sin and always answers. It is suspicious at best, and vicious at worst. And you , my friend, are experiencing its viciousness. This need not be.

You said, "I do not have any way outside of the power of God, ....." But, ALL power is of God; what is NOT of God (outside) has no power to do anything. God is within your mind and heart. In your desperation, based on my experiences, you are probably not in the position to make any decisions by yourself. Actually, none of us are.

When you pray, try not to imagine preconceived ways in which the Holy Spirit may answer, because all knowledge lies behind every decision the Holy Spirit makes for us. Truly ask HIM and He will answer. The responsibility is His, and He alone is fit to assume it.To do so is His function. To refer the question to Him is ours. Would you want to be responsible for decisions about which we understand so little? Be glad we have a Teacher Who cannot make a mistake! His answers are always right. Would you say that of yours?

    to be continued...

If you would please pray For my return to The LORD and that The LORD heal's my backsliding and my body of any and all ailments. In addition, if you would please pray that The LORD delivers me from any and all strongholds and bonadge of the enemy that I am under. Also, if you would pray that The LORD delivers and protects me from my enemies and that the attacks being perpetrated against me would cease. Please pray that any schemes that The Devil and my enemies are trying to instigate against me are exposed and fail. Please pray that The LORD provides for all of my spiritual and material needs and that The LORD restores me unto Himself like He did with The Apostle Peter; that He turns away my captivity like He did for Job, and blesses me like He did for Job. Please pray that The LORD guides me into all Truth and that He gives me the Grace and mercy to persevere and fight the good fight of Faith. Thank you and God bless you.

When it says that Esther told her servant maids and others to fast, did they also pray? What was the custom of the Persian Jews about fasting and prayer?

    Hello Anonymous

A man has to do everything they can do to get freed from such situations. Of course it is God who will eventually give a solution but this does not mean that you must stay passive and do nothing, surely something you can do. If those abusers are in your workplace you can inform your employer and ask for protection. If there is no help, then change job. If they are not in your workplace go and inform the police, the social security services or anybody who does that job in your place. If they are family members and you can not stand that any more again threaten them by saying that you go to the police and actually do that if needed. There are many legal ways to act, there is not any need to act on your own illegally, you will get yourself in a big big trouble if you do something illegal. Ask for help from friends, family members, the state anywhere you can get help from. They can give you good advice and support. God often ,apart from acting miracously, gives us a way to break through bad situations.

You say that they use the power of God to abuse you, who? In a church? Why don't you then go away? Are you sure you don't imagine all that, maybe they are only in your mind? You need to talk to somebody.

    Hello EthanDuff

Do you mean preaching in the church? If God selectes you for preaching in the church then He will open a door for you(don't try to break through), He will recommend you somehow, and you will have results in your ministry which means that people will accept you. If you mean evangelizing in the streets then firstly you must see if it suits you and again there must be results in your ministry, a ministry without results is not from God. Maybe not immediate results, but definitely results.

    James,

We are not given that information in scripture but we do know that Zacharias prayed for a son based on what the angel said in Luke 1:13, and that his prayer was heard and answered.

Good Afternoon and Happy New Year to everyone,

I still need prayer for Physical Healing, Spiritual Healing, Mental Healing and Financial Healing. I'm recovering well but dealing with worry & depression because of the Very Large Medical Debt from my surgeries last year, office visits & other medical procedures. I'm still not able to eat solid foods yet. But I know God will make a way for me and bless me with a Financial Blessing large enough to pay off all these medical debts. Thank you in advance for praying for me and with me. Have a blessed day

Please pray for a woman who loves Jesus and knows He's real but is going through a dark time because she got herself into a relationship and had a couple children with an angry violent abusive man who openly disproves Jesus and doesn't believe. Please pray that if he has no intentions of seeking help for his anger that he would move on or she would trust the Lord and know that God makes everything work together for the good of those who love God and sometimes we really need to step out in faith but sometimes we need help stepping out on faith. Maybe a little push from God. She's a very good hearted giving person and I know she loves Jesus and needs to come into a solid relationship with Jesus. The kids need help and protection. Please help me pray and praise.

    Good Afternoon GiGi,

Happy New Year to you. I'm doing alright. The swelling has went down on the left side of my face under my left eye. I'm still dealing with double vision in my left eye. I still have a little soreness in my mouth area upper jaw, right foot-ankle-lower leg and hip. I go back Thursday, January the 5th, to see the doctor. It's been 6 months since I had all those surgeries and I pray that I do not have any more for a long time. It was very hard on me for my age. I ask that you keep me lifted up in prayer. Have a blessed day

    Luke 11

1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, TEACH US TO PRAY, as John also taught his disciples. 2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3Give us day by day our daily bread. 4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

I find it helpful to pray the Word. You know, take the words from the actual Word of God and pray them over my life and situation. I take the words and make them my own. They are Gods promises. All of them. Also, I try to be a DOER of the Word. So when I have an enemy I ask myself what God says to do. Three things come to mind without even studying and searching for my answers. One is above deliver me from evil Lord. Two is to love my enemies. Three is the Lord says vengeance is mine I shall repay which means I don't pray for their hurt or repay their evil I give it to God and I let him do it. I love my enemies however I can if it's just by praying for them or if possible blessing them somehow. And I pray for their salvation because God is always merciful first it is his will that none should perish. Maybe that is why you're in this trial you never know maybe God wants you to pray for them maybe you will be the one that heaps coals of fire on their head By being kind and loving them and because of it they will end up being saved some day even though you suffer now. Hebrews 13:15

12Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. 14For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. 15By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks

Let me bare my soul to you. If I go down to the deepest farthest pit of Hell.yet will I praise Him. It is I that has failed Him and am unworthy.

If There be any good thing in me it is only because of the blood of Jesus that washes me clean and makes me righteous before Him. If there be any good thing in me It's because of Him. Our Wonderful Merciful Savior.

I love You Jesus! I thank You and praise You! Not for anything You have done specifically, but for everything You have done AND just for who You are.

You are WORTHY of all the HONOR and PRAISE! All that I can pour out upon You Heavenly Father from the very depths of my soul.

I will pray for you dear Anonymous. I'm so sorry that you are in the position that you find yourself in!! I know that Joseph from the bible, had many years of waiting on the Lord and not knowing what was going to happen to him. Especially, his 10 years in prison after being falsely accused. I too, have had waiting periods and remember well, the pain in my heart - waiting on God to release me from a situation I was in. It was so hard! So, when I saw your prayer request, my heart went out to you!

I pray freedom over your life. I pray peace within your soul regardless of your circumstance! I pray you receive a touch from God that speaks right into your soul; giving you hope and even joy, that surpasses human understanding. I pray you find the answers for which you seek. I pray hope into your mind, heart, body, and spirit; and that the hope of your salvation in Christ, may give you a true understanding of this life and a promise of what is to come. May the Lord bless you my friend!

I have a dark Jezebel in my life. She seeks to destroy all my ties within my family and taint mine and my husband's names as we became Christians. She has tried her best to cut me off from all I love with horrible lies. Every interaction I have with my mother, she cancels, interferes, and negates. However, God is so good and Is ALive and on the throne as the Most High. Help me, friends in Christ! I want to love her as Christ loved the church while we were yet in our sins. I want to pray for her salvation. Please pray with me - whomever reads this. Her name is Margaret and she is in dire need of prayers and for Christ to break the bond she has with Satan and deliver her soul. And I need prayers to love her with a pure heart, unconditionally, and not be constantly hurt by her vicious attitude, energy and attacks. May the Lord bless her, her husband (a true Ahab), and her 4 lovely children. May the Lord help me to grow through this. We need prayers from the body of Christ. Thank you! May the Lord bless you as well!

Kevin Mack I am going to pray for your soul. You're clearly not here for the word of God. Your time would be better spent on another social media platform. Perhaps Twitter. Politics and Christ do not mix. Instead of bashing people; you need to pray for them. Jesus tells us to be holy for He is holy. Nothing on this earth happens without God's permission.
