Wesley's Notes for Genesis 13:18

13:18 Then Abram removed his tent - God bid him walk through the land, that is, Do not think of fixing in it, but expect to be always unsettled, and walking through it to a better Canaan; in compliance with God's will herein, he removed his tent, conforming himself to the condition of a pilgrim. And he built there an altar - in token of his thankfulness to God for the kind visit he had made him.

When God told Abraham in Genesis 12 1 3 to leave for a place an unknown place later identified as Canaan , he was not told to take anybody outside his nuclear family along. No wonder there was strife with Lot 's his nephew herdsmen later. This lesson to me shows we must try our possible best to follow God 's specific instructions and not just rely on our feelings and emotions. Where we are not sure or clear, it is better to take the matter back to God to get the full details. Presumption could lead to undue stress, strife and problems. However, God uses our experiences to teach us deep truths about Himself and all around us. May God help us to follow the specific divine revelations He has given us for our lives in Jesus Name.

Walking by faith is the Only gateway to peace, joy, rest and the solid Christian life. Walking by faith means we are working by the revealed word of God and not by just mere feelings. If we walk with God in spirit and in truth, He has the Capacity to make us overtake our peers and even our seniors on scales of greatness. God is looking for ways to showcase His power and Strength in the lives of His Children
